Thanks...I thought about the amount of trips I would have to make. The hospital is almost 3 hours away from my house so honestly it wouldn't be the best choice to have the lap band. I am going to go with the sleeve.
-
Yeah I didn't like the thought of them messing with my intestines either. But at the time I didn't know much about the sleeve and I honestly wish they had told me more about it because then I would have gone through with it BUT then I wouldn't have my son SO it's a good/bad thing lol. Thank you so much for your imput. I have called the hospital that I trust and I'm registered for the first seminar that I have to attend. I'm nervous and everything but that's normal. Did you already have the sleeve done?
-
oh thank you so much for your imput. Since I posted this I have been doing a lot of research online. I actually called and registered for my first appointment at the hospital I trust. My mother in law and her friend did great with lap band BUT have had problems but just keep saying it's other things causing their problems. My husband has an uncle that had the lap band and it worked then he had it unfilled and over ate and weighs more. He now wants the lap band OUT and have gastric bypass or the sleeve done. My husband also has 2 aunt's (one of them is married to his uncle that has the lap band) and they did awesome losing weight. My best friend is going for the sleeve. I'm terrified of having the staple line break open but that can be fixed. I'm going to go to the seminar and listen and learn. Thank you so much for your input it means a lot to me

hhhmmmm do I want to go for Lap Band or go for the Gastric Sleeve? so hard to decide
-
I don't like the idea of anything foreign staying inside me, and you have to go back and forth for adjustments with the band. I am going for the sleeve but like Jane13 says it has to be your choice.
-
I have decided that I'm going for the sleeve. I've been doing a lot of research today and getting many opinions. I've already set up an appointment with the hospital that I'll be going to

Can you tell me how she almost died? I know a lot people that have the lap band that have done fine. I have massive anxiety when it comes to any surgery. My friend is going for the sleeve but I don't know much about it.

Hi everyone. I've been a member since 2011. I had originally wanted lap band but my surgeon switched me to gastric bypass BUT 3 days before surgery I canceled my surgery. I then lost my grandma then 3 months to the day of her passing I found out I was pregnant with my son. I ballooned back up to 330 lbs. I'm currently 290lbs and I've been stuck at this weight for 5 months. No matter what I do doesn't work SO I'm switching to a different hospital that does lap band. I'm scared because I've seen a lot of horror stories about young mothers dying from it. Please ease my mind. I NEED to do this!!! I need to be around for my children. This is my family.

Nervous but ready to get back on track postpartum.
Krystyneh replied to Mrs.Henry026's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Did you have any complications with being banded and being pregnant? I'm looking to get banded by the end of the year and getting pregnant 2 years from now with my 3rd. I personally don't know anyone that got pregnant after being banded -

Exactly 2 weeks from today is my surgery I'm excited and nervous and anxious lol so today I start my pre-op diet. So for the next 2 weeks this is what my food for the whole day will look like: Breakfast: chobani Greek yogurt and 24 oz water Snack: protein shake Lunch: 3/4 cup fat free cottage cheese, 1/2 cup watermelon and 24oz water Snack: 2 sugar free Popsicles Dinner: 3oz tilapia, 1 cup broccoli (cooked) and 24oz water All of that is within my calorie, carb, protein and fluid guidelines lol to me it doesn't sound like a lot of food but after surgery I won't be eating much so my body has to get used to it some how lol do can anyone tell me how you deal with food cravings during this time and how to NOT give into ur food cravings?
-
Started my pre-op diet Friday and since then I've lost 9 pounds I can't believe it lol I was 255 pounds on Friday and as of today I weigh 246 pounds I have 8 days left of the diet which means tomorrow I'll be exactly half way WOOHOO so I have 9 days until surgery

Scared Of Missing Food
Krystyneh replied to kpaige77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband's 2 aunts had gastric bypass about 4-5 years ago and look great. They don't deny themselves anything. They will take a bite of whatever they want just to satisfy the craving. I'm scared about missing food but I know I'll be okay -
Tattoos And Gastric Bypass
Krystyneh replied to destineex33's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a tramp stamp and they told me it should be fine after surgery. I know the ones that look bad afterwards are in the stomach, arm and boobs -
Oh gosh I couldn't imagine just having that. Thankfully I'm allowed to have food (only 600-800 calories a day) but I do have the protein shake and jello sometimes...how long is that for

Thanks
