New, Young And On My Way

Hi I'm also new in here I'm 24 so we are close in age lol at first I had a hard time telling people, especially my friends because they don't understand. I only have one close friend that understands. I gained all my weight due to PCOS. My in laws support me since my mother in law and most of my husband's side of the family has had either lap band or gastric bypass done so they understand what I am going through. I think it's very important to tell people especially the ones that are close to u because u need the support. It isn't an easy road going for lap band and at times it may be very difficult. I'm only on month two of seeing my nutritionist and I just started it in November
  2. Oh lol one of my first moves towards lap band was to go to an information seminar. There were people in the seminar that are going for gastric. I also have to watch 4 seminars online and fill out a questionaire for each one. I can't do that until I pay $250 dollars tho because that's the fee. They look at it as people will pay the money if they are serious about going for surgery lol the fee takes care of seeing the nutritionist and all your fills for the rest of ur life or for as long as u still have the band in u. I don't know how the place where u are going does it tho buy that's how mine does it

Hey From Vermont :) I'm New

Thanks I've come to terms with my losses. I'll definitely support u I believe that everyone needs supporters. Only one of my closest friends understands why Im having surgery and the others are trying to talk me out of it when I've already made up my mind to have it done and I've already started the process. How far along into your journey are u?

    Get pregnant with lap band?

This is also the reason why I'm having it. I'm 5'6" and 277 pounds currently. I do have a 4 year old daughter and my husband and I have been trying to conceive for a little over 2 years now and I have a miscarriage in June and another in August and all my doctors advised me to lose weight and my mother in law had lap band done almost two years ago and she told me to go for it and my doctors also recommended it. Good luck and I heard that lap band is the best way to go
  5. Hi Im also new and I have a 6 month requirement before surgery. Ive almost completed month 2 with my nutritionist. My surgeon says that my surgery should be in the spring/summer time. I've already lost 7 pounds. I've cut out all soda from my diet. Im allowed 1,500 calories a day. Is there a reason y they are waiting 8-9 months instead of 6 months before they do ur surgery? I'm just curious. I live in Vermont and having my surgery done in New Hampshire so I'm always curious about how other places over the US do theirs
  6. I also have a 6 months requirement and at first I was sad but I'm sooo happy that I have to do it. I've cut out all soda from my diet and I've lost 7 pounds in a month which my nutritionist thinks is awesome especially since I haven't been able to exercise much lately. I'm almost done with month 2 and I have 4 more months to go. Hang in there and you'll be happy that it is required. I have a friend that decided to have lap band then two months later had it done and it never worked because she ate and drank whatever and they actually had to remove it because she stretched out her pouch over the band and her surgeon said she wasn't ready and refuses to do surgery on her again. She wished her insurance required it. You'll feel sooo much better that you had to do it good luck
