  1. Now I don't have to worry about my husband's insurance because he no longer works for the company so they are billing my previous insurance which I'm back on
  2. The hospital does deal with BCBS and my deductible is $100 and max out of pocket doesn't have a certain number. I guess it's unlimited. They do cover the surgery (my insurance) but I have 3 places near me that do it and the hospital that I chose is ranked high compared to the others
  3. Yeah that's what I'm thinking but then I have to worry about my fills
  4. Yeah that's why I'm going to go along with what I need to then when it comes to the cost I'm going to find out how come they charge $26,000 TOTAL for gastric bypass but yet lap band is supposed to be cheaper and they are having me pay $11,000 out of pocket after my insurance pays their 80%.
  5. Well the thing is is it's at a hospital. I have WellMark BCBS if Iowa but its PPO and I live in Vermont and I'm having the surgery in New Hampshire. I had state health insurance when I started this whole process. The reason why I have the insurance that I have now is because my husband is an over the road truck driver and the head quarters for the company he works for is out of Iowa. I'm guessing that she's wrong because I've never heard of that. Worst comes to worst I'll pay out of pocket. $11,000 is a rediculous amount to pay out of pocket when I have insurance
  6. I think they are in my network but I'm not positive and I've already paid the $250 fee...I figure that if I do have to pay $11,000 out of pocket that I can set up payment plans but it still doesn't make sense to me so I'm waiting to see what happens. I'll be finding out WHY it costs that much
  7. yeah see that's what I thought...it doesn't make sense at all but that's what she said. I just don't understand it.
  8. She's with the surgeon's office and it doesn't make sense to me either...it's sooo messed up so guess what...it looks like I'll be doing a payment arrangement. Gastric Bypass is only $26,000 total and my parents joked that I should just go for that lol I want lap band tho
  9. Okay so the woman did call me back today and she said that the $11,000 IS AFTER my insurance pays their 80% but what I don't understand is one of my friend's sister is going for gastric bypass and her surgery is $26,000 TOTAL WTF it doesn't make sense to me at all
  10. Oh well my deductible is $100 and I dont have a maximum out of pocket
  11. Well I'd be saving to pay my part but my question is due they bill they insurance before or after? She said she would bill my insurance and after they pay their 80% that I'd have to pay the rest of the bill unless I have another insurance also. I'm praying they bill afterwards because then I'd set up a payment plan.
  12. Well my $250 program fee covers 100% complete access to remedyehr.com or something like that for a website plus being able to contact their nutritionists through their personal phone lines. I'm not 100% positive with everything. I live in Vermont and my insurance is Wellmark BCBS of Iowa but its a PPO insurance and I'm going to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover NH. They've never worked with this insurance before but they take BCBS and they cover 80% of it but dont hospitals do the surgery then bill the insurance? Because the woman I talked to said that she would bill the insurance then I'd get the remaining balance on my bill. I always thought that they can't bill the insurance company until after surgery just incase they have to do something extra or am I wrong? Do they bill before or after surgery?
  13. Well where I'm going I heard that everything has to be paid upfront but I thought that was just if u self paid but idk lol I guess I'll figure this whole process out sooner or later
  14. Thanks I hope I dont have to pay too much because I already just paid $250 for the program fee
  15. Oh okay cool then that doesn't sound so bad lol I was freaking out about $11,000 and I only have to pay 20%
  16. My deductible is $100 a year but out of pocket doesn't have a maximum there. I'm just hoping I don't have to pay more then $3,000 for the remaining balance but I should find out Monday by the woman. I just want to figure it out before I even get a surgery date lol

    Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield

Well I was told that they do cover it but only 80% so now I'm trying to figure out how to pay for the rest of it
  18. Okay so my husband is an over the road truck driver and I'm covered under his insurance now. I had state of Vermont health insurance but now I have WellMark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Iowa I'm guessing because that's where it says that they are out of. Does anyone live in a different state then where their insurance is out of and did it cover the lap band surgery? I started this whole process while I had state health insurance. When I called they said that they do cover bariatric surgery but I'm guessing that they don't understand that I live in Vermont and I'm having it done in New Hampshire. Now on my insurance card it doesn't say a state or anything all it says is Blue Cross Blue Shield Alliance Select and on the bottom it says PPO. I'm just so confused and I'm impatiently waiting for the woman that deals with the insurance at the hospital to call me back to let me know if there's any other requirements and what's going on about it. I talked to her 1 1/2 hours ago but I'm still not sure what's going on and I get impatient very easily lol. Anyone else have to deal with something like this?

    Why are YOU Fat?

I gained all my weight at age 12 when my PCOS kicked in. My hormones changed and I just started gaining weight even though I wasn't changing my eating habits. After I went from 110 pounds to 289 in 1 1/2 years (extremely fast due to PCOS) I started telling myself that since I was fat then I should just start eating like a fat person. I ended up getting depressed and I became a secretive eater. At school I would go into the bathroom to eat because I would constantly hear people mooing at me. I dealt with all of this until I went to college straight out of high school. Instead of gaining the Freshman 15 I lost the Freshman 15 plus 20 extra pounds. I ended up meeting my husband (he likes heavy girls) and I ended up getting pregnant at age 19 and I had my daughter at age 20. I went from 275 down to 240 while pregnant due to gall stones, kidney stones and hyperparathyroidism. I ended up gaining the weight back plus some. November 2010 I weighed in at 315 pounds and that's when I started going to Curves to start losing weight. I did end up getting down to 272 pounds but I ended up gaining it back because I got stressed out. October 2011 I decided that I needed to get my butt in gear and start losing weight to help my PCOS. My husband and I ended up having 2 miscarriages last year. I'm hoping to have surgery either next month or in June. I gained my weight due to my PCOS but I kept it on due to my eating. I'm an emotional eater, secretive eater and I eat because I love food all together.
  20. My family is my biggest support group. My mother-in-law had lap band surgery done 3 years ago I was upfront with my family about me deciding to go for lap band surgery. My parents were happy because they have known for the last 6 years since I was 19 that I thought about it almost every day. My in-laws were also happy. One of my brother's was happy about it because he knows my struggles and the other one is happy but also mad. He's 350 pounds and he knows the struggle of trying to lose weight. He kept saying "oh you can end up gaining it back" and blah blah blah lol He's seen a lot of people that went through GASTRIC BYPASS gain their weight back but he only knows two people that have gone with lap band and that's my mother-in-law and her friend. They haven't hit their goal weight but they are still losing which is all that matters. I heard a rumor that my brother is jealous that I'm finally doing what I want to lose weight. I'm 25 and he's 33. A few of my friends were very supportive from the beginning then I have one that keeps telling me that if I put my mind to it that I can lose it on my own which if it was that easy then I would have lost my weight years ago lol. I have another one that was mad because she wishes she could go through with it but she cares more about what her family thinks then what she herself thinks. She's also mad because my husband and I have been trying to have another baby for the last 3 years and I had 2 miscarriages last year. She's now pregnant and throws it in my face but I'm trying to get my life back and be healthier for my daughter and step-daughter and so that I don't have to go on fertility drugs to get pregnant. You will always have people that will support you and others that will be mad or upset. What you need to think about is yourself. You need to get healthier and if lap band surgery is really what you want then don't let other peoples' opinions effect you decision

    Question For The Ladies

    Not Doing Good

Things in life will always get in the way and if you end up going back to old habits, one great thing to remember is you an always get back on course And you will always have the band to help you unless you were to get it removed. Good Luck and I know you can do it
  23. I felt the same way back in November when I started my 6 months but 4/21 is my last visit with my nutritionist like someone told me on here, the 6 months go by faster then what u think it will lol even my nutritionist can't believe that this is my last visit in 9 months I've lost 48 pounds but in the 6 months seeing the nutritionist I've only lost 17 of the 48 pounds lol. U can definitely do it and just focus on the changes u need to make which is what I did. Plus doing the food journal every day helped also good luck

    Not Doing Good

I'm not banded yet but I just finished my 6 month diet supervision. Last month my husband became an over the road truck driver and I gained back 12 pounds of the 48 pounds I lost within 6 months and I was sooo mad but it WAS my fault because I was more worried about if he had everything he needed and taking care of our daughter PLUS still maintaining my grades in nursing school. Well within 2 weeks after realizing what I did to myself I re-lost those 12 pounds plus 5 more pounds on top of it. I just went back to my old habits. My doctor always told me that whether I'm banded or not that any weight gain is my fault. No one forced food into my mouth or forced me to eat something bad. Just restart everything and work with ur doctor to lose the weight again u can do it especially if you've already done it once good luck
  25. Jess55 - that makes me feel sooo much better lol I was so nervous. Which it I've already done the stuff then I figure that I shouldn't have to do it again ESPECIALLY since someone else paid for it and my new insurance wouldn't have to pay for all the testing again. I'm pushing to have surgery before July 1st so that way I don't have to deal with worrying about my new insurance
