  1. I have had the absolute hardest time drinking enough Water slowly. I think I'm starting to get dehydrated. What are ya'll doing to get in all of your water after surgery? I was banded 5 days ago. The dr said to drink 2 oz of water every 15 minutes while you are awake. I get behind, because I get busy and do things and then I try to catch up by taking larger sips and I give myself a stomachache. I have had some popsicles - and i've tried just sipping non stop out of a water bottle. I don't have a problem with the taste of water. In fact I used to drink tons of water before surgery. Any suggestions are welcome - I know the answer is - do what the dr told you. haha I'm trying!!
  2. Thank you so much for all of the answers. I'm going to find one of those camel bottles. After i posted this I found an ap that alerts me when i need to drink something and I can tap it to track my water. I think it's called Hydrate!

    Try To Figure It Out

You'll go to an informational session first. Other people will be there, the Surgeon or staff will present the different WLS options, and if they are good (in my opinion) will explain every possible danger as well as the great things that can come of the surgery. After that appointment they will contact the insurance company and get you information on exactly what you will pay out of pocket and they will also let you know what the insurance requires you to do. (You can also contact the insurance company and find out the same stuff) If you are interested in pursuing further, you'll have an appointment with the dr to go over your health. From that point the Doctor will order up a bunch of visits. A Psyche Eval, a Chest xray, blood work, a barium swallow to get pictures of your stomach and esophogus, and any other appointments that are needed based on your health. 2 weeks prior to surgery you'll have a pre-op appointment where you'll get information, your doctor will ask you to go on some sort of pre op diet. I see some people who say they have to go on a liquid diet. We were only told to lose a little weight before the surgery, so we went on the atkins diet for the week. If you don't like the doctor and you want a band you have to get over that, because after banding you'll have to go to appointments for fills. I haven't had a fill yet, but my surgeon is adamant with us about coming in once a month for the first 12 months for the best success. I hope this helps and I hope you find all the answers you need to make your decision!

Post Lap Band Surgery 6 Days

Thinspiration - I was banded on 12/19 and trust me I had a lot of the same feelings today. Just know that next year at this time you'll be a lot closer to your goal weight and you will be able to enjoy some of those delicious foods just in more controlled portions. Just know you are not alone. I'm such a food addict. I know the hardest part about this whole thing is getting my mind right. sending you virtual hugs, don't hesitate to send me a message if you ever want to vent!

    Soon To Have Lap Band

My husband and I were banded on Monday. We started the atkins diet 1 week before surgery just to lose a little weight (our dr said anything you can to lose a little weight helps with the surgery) Since that week my husband has lost 21 pounds and I have lost 19. for the next week I would suspect we'll lose another big chunk, and then it will probably slow down to 2 lbs a week. Dr. Says to take it easy for 21 days while we heal. You know they say that in your 20's your skin can snap back with little to no sagging. I'm 30 yrs old right now so I'm hoping my skin will still stay somewhat tight. I say go for it. But do your research. Understand what you are going to do to your body, understand what complications can come out of it. Go to the best doctor you can find and ask a ton of questions! if you're interested I started a blog to talk about everything lap band ... Here's the link, I hope it helps! http://happilyafterlapband.blogspot.com/
  11. My goodness, please be careful. you can seriously damage your pouch by eating too much or drinking while eating. I'm so upset that your doctor didn't explain this to you at all. please read this post and study up on the dangers of a dialated esophagus http://www.lapbandtalk.com/topic/140115-dilated-esophagus-the-dangers-of-not-following-your-drs-plan/ before you have a very serious complication
  12. Hey! Good Luck with your surgery! I'm 3 days post op and I'm trying to document everything on my blog. I hope this helps! http://happilyafterlapband.blogspot.com/2011/12/what-to-do-to-prepare-for-lap-band.html
  13. So glad to meet some more newbies! My husband and I were banded this past monday. Our doctor has us on full liquids (anything that can strain through a mesh strainer) 50+ grams of Protein a day for me and 70+ for my husband. I'm keeping a blog through the experience and I'm trying to leave a lot of good tips as we go through the experience. Hope you find it helpful!! http://happilyafterlapband.blogspot.com/
  14. My husband and I were both banded on Monday December 19th @ Duke Raleigh Hospital: Here is a link to our blog and surgery day story! http://happilyafterlapband.blogspot.com/2011/12/banded.html
  15. Hi! My husband and I were banded on Monday the 19th - 3 days ago. When they do the surgery they blow up your stomach with co2 and I actually found that the gas pain after the surgery was more significant that the pain from the incisions. Our nurses said that we can use GasX to help move that along but we still have to walk it out. I've taken 4 or 5 GasX pills in the past three days and I've been walking a lot. That's the only way to get it moving out of your system.
