232.0 lbs progress! -
I REALLY advise u to consider the persons personality. Negative people respond negatively and are very ignorant with no desire to get informed. I learned even b4 surgery i lose better without a captive audience. Weird but id much rather post my progress here & in other weight loss forums where i get support regardless. If they find it i will explain bcuz if they r on the site they want info, right?

Unable To Fill Because Can't Access Port!
Marsela replied to neece1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yes! My dr finally realized my port points downward because its above my navel & i guess because i have a "innie" it kinda makes it pull downward. My dr & i made up a poem so he remembers how to put the needle in up & then down. Poem says u havta go up so u can come down, down, down :lol -
I agree with the others, you're doing great! Right about now i would love to have a 14 lb loss. Any loss is a good loss lol. I think its good that you were able to find out how much fluid is in your band. I asked but my dr said he didnt know bcuz he just starts with 1 or 2 cc and takes out some until im comfotable. Im a little bummed because i wanna know darn it!!

Weight watchers and the Band I cannot believe this!!!!
Marsela replied to BubblyBandit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree with most if what restless monkey said. I too was on WW for yrs and yo yoing was a prob. I asked my dr about this dual method &i he says the band is sposed to get u out of the diet trap! He says i wont b eating the WW portions with my band and doin both keeps u on the mental rollercoaster the band teaches against. -

Hello, just thought i would let u know u r not alone. Going thru the same thing but i must tell you the first thing my dr and nutritionist addressed was weighing too much. They actually dont want me to weigh except for my monthly visit to the office. The point is your wt fluctuates for various reasons thruout the day. U may b able to finda article online from a couple yrs ago called "why the scale lies". Excellent. I read it when i need a wakeup. Pages r old &i wrinkled, lol.

Finally Under 200Lbs
Marsela replied to s0utherndivadoll's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
This is such a blessing!!!"" Trying sooo hard to get there! Just wondering, can anyone tell me if they're wait fluctuates drastically frm day to day even when you eat properly? For instance yesterday i weighed 219 this morning 223!! I ate perfectly yesterday and even wrote dwn everythg. I try to only have 35ggas carbs /day. -
Dont thk ppl read your post well. I got why u unfilled your band. Sounds like a slippage tho. Why dont you try à new dr. I promise things have chgd drastically since u got yous in. He was probably just learning. As for expense chk your insurance bcuz i have humana and not sure how long they've had this rule but i only pay a copay for fills if i "dont" get one. My offc visits free if i get a fill! U never know yours maybe the same. Hate for u to remove it, gain more wt then want another one &i cant get it. Also not to gross u out but i feel that way when i need a laxative since i got my band. My pain is on my right side. Good luck.

Im not a dr but wrk in icu 26 yrs even tho i have more personal experience with this. Happens to me evrytime i get dehydrated!! If we start slacking on water thru the day dehydration is around the corner. I try to sip all day before meals. This must b your water intake not counting otjer liguids. I almost passed out once and now when i fall asleep evrywhere i get to drug store for low sugar electolytes immediately. My dr recommends sf propel. I keep it onhand most times. He also says u can go to baby isle for pedialyte and just chk the label for carbs bcuz u need the nutrients not sugar! Thats why no gatoraide or poweraide. Hope this helps.

I Think I Have Hit Bandster Hell...
Marsela replied to Amanda61082's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there, i got my band over 2 yrs ago &i im still having those times when i go in and out of the green zone. Im working thru one now. My dr also tells me its those times when i start treating this like a diet not a lifestyle chg. Hes right tho, i was even becoming a slave to the scale again. He did give me a small fill which helps when this happens to get me bk on trk. Hope this helps. I know what thats you're going thru! I've been in tears @u times. Feel free to msg me for support anytime. If you can help with my ticker question that would help me stop pulling hair out lol. I pray it gets better for u soon. -
Does your doctor recommend high protein/low carb?
Marsela replied to Fanny Adams's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My dr explains that the misconcepion for yrs has been fat causes heart disease and diabetes &high bp. Instead pts need to know that its the white flour and sugars that cause type ll diabetes which leads to all the other killers. Therefore he teaches in his ofc and on youtube that protein first, vegies nxt and low gi carbs should be the only way band pts as well as all ppl should eat for health. Also carbs increase your desire for more carbs! This i found is true! Evrytime i start trying to eat just a little higher carb things the desire to eat more carbs is insatiable. Everyones different but i lose much better doing it his way. -
Im 2 yrs postop. Had hernia repair with lap band. Pain in left shoulder started after surgery and still continues. Anyone else have this prohlem?
