Hi I just wanted to chime in. I had my surgery Jan 10 2012, I have had slow but continuous weight loss. I did not seem to be one of the people that lost a lot of weight quickly. However, that being said I have continued to lose steady and when ot come off it is gone. I do not see any gain. I will hold steady and then bam drop a pound or two. I even had to stop reading the stories here for awhile because I thought I was not doing well compared to others. So now I just look at ME and me alone. I have lost a lot of weight and I continue so I am happy. Things are so much more fun now, like traveling and going clothes shopping, so I am very happy and I know I am losing slowly but I am losing more than I could ever have done without the sleeve. Hope you are encouraged to be the best you that you can be and don't think you are going to lose the same amounts as others in the same time frame. But be assured every pound you do lose is a pound gone that is gone for ever! You will get where you want to be just hang in there and be glad for the small things. Blessings, Patti

It does appear to be different for everyone. I am 7 months out and 60 pounds gone, It has been wonderful. I am fine with being on the slower end of losing. Just so happy I am losing and feeling so great. Good Luck to you on your VSG journey.

I slowed down around week 3/4 also. My Dr Office said it is not a "stall". We kept doing the normal with protein, liquids, vitamins etc and then looked at each month and I am losing about 7-8 pounds a month and as long as this keeps up they said I am doing good. I feel like when I go 2 weeks and stay the same something is wrong, however then all of a sudden I will drop 2 or 3 pounds then stay at that weight for awhile. It is a weird feeling though because I of course want it to pour off me. But you know when I look back in my journal and see that I am down 48 1/2 pounds and it is gone. I do not bounce up on the scale at all. I noticed once I lose it, it is gone. Very cool thing with all my past yo yo diet stuff. I am loving every moment of this journey. Do I still feel like I am the only one this isn't working right for? Yes but I am feeling so much better with every pound gone. Hang in there and keep up what the doctor and nutritionist tel you. It will keep coming off. Good Luck

Just Got Home From Surgery And I Am A Crying Mess! Up 5Lbs!
plyman replied to DanityChai's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ditto from me for the other replies. I too gained 5 pounds after surgery. I was advised I would and it was normal. I did lose the 5 and many more very quickly for the first month. You will be amazed. I too thought I would be the only one this ddn't work for. I still find myself thinking that sometimes, but in my heart I know that is wrong because I am losing weight and I am feeling better than I have in years. You will too, try to find the positive attitude you need to get you through and you will be updating your weight loss before you know it. Good Luck, and drink lots of water, slowly. -

Congratulations It so so much fun to meet our own little mini goals. Cheers to you on your first goal and it is exciting that the next one can now be reached also. Good Luck. I was sleeved 2/10/12 and also have been losing slow. Although compared to my past it is fast and when I go down on the scale it does not come back like it used to before VSG. I am happy to be going down and not so worried about the time it takes. I am just so glad to be losing and feeling great.

Weight Loss Slowed Down
plyman replied to Dee from Sydney Aus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery January 10,2012 and have slowed down a lot, but I am still losing so I cannot be too concerned. The fact last I am not going up or getting too focused on the speed of losing. This is a big change for me. I also know that slow is not a bad thing, it is easier on the body when you lose a lot of weight slowly. I am very sure this was the right decison for me. I also know that the people on this site are very helpfu. If you search for topics about slow weight loss you will find some great ideas to help. I needed the reminder to track exactly what I am eating. I already knew it was not a lot, but I needed to be reminded about protein first and there are many discussions about that. Good luck to you and I hope you find just the encouragement you need to stay happy, healthy and know you are losing exactly what you are suppose to. -
Congratulations! I am right behind you, had surgery on 1/10/12 and today is 2 weeks post op. I am down 14 pounds. i am in total agreement about the ups and downs. The ups are definately more than the downs so I am very happy at this point. Keep up the good work, we are getting healthier every day. Patti

How Is This Even Possible
plyman replied to Catracks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree Catracks, I was sleeved on Jan 10 and I am feeling great! I am so amazed that as I come to the end of the clear liquid diet, I am feeling so good and the weight is already coming off pretty quickly. No regrets here, just a bright future ahead. I am so grateful for all the help from the people on this site. Thank you all! Patti -
I am in the same place, one week post op on clear liquid and really getting bored with it. I am not really hungry but the taste is what I am missing. I have to make it one more week then full liquid which sounds like an exciting week (who woulld think). The thing that keeps me going is thinking how my stomach is inside right now. It is stapled closed and needs to heal before heavy things get in there. I sure don't want anything to happen to the healing part so at least I know the liquids go right through and will not cause any damage. I sure am testing all my patience though. Good luck to you and find your way through one more week.

I am a week post op and doing great so hang in there and do what the Doctor tells you. Hugs and prayers

Jp Drain After Sleeve Surgery
plyman replied to Cathy Adkins Harvey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on Tuesday the 10th and have a drain also. It is slowing down quite a bit now.I am getting about 25cc everyday. But the color and everything looks fine. I too had a stringy block kind of thing. I think eventually it just fell down into the bottle.Make sure you are collapsing the bottle part before plugging the pour spout. It is the suction that makes it work. My surgeon said there could be little bits of tissue and fat that will come out. Hang in there, I am happy I will get rid of it on Monday. Good Luck -
Now I Know Why People Are Sent Home With Drains
plyman replied to Catracks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ahh now I understand better too. thank you so much for the information. I too have a drain which will be removed on Monday :woot: I was wondering if it hurts to have it removed. Is there anyone that had one that can let me know? I am so grateful for all of you out there. It is so nice to have so much helpful information. Patti -
Just got home from the hospital and so far no pain. well maybe a little gas pain in lower abdomen but that is is today. I already made by follow up visit with the surgeon for Monday to have the drain removed. From what I have read on this web site it gets better everyday. I will be excited when I can say I am 2-3 weeks post op. Always thinking ahead. Patti

Sleeved On Tuesday 1/10/12
plyman replied to plyman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you Vance, hearing from someone just two weeks out keeps me encouraged. I have not had a lot of pain and as long as I sip small and slow I can keep down the clear liquid diet so far. I was wondering why I feel a little tender in my lower abdomen but only when I get up or down from sitting or laying and when I walk around it seems to stretch out and be better. Did you experience anything like that early on and did it go away? I am waiting for a call back from the nurse in the surgeons office to ask her about it. It hurts just a little but not bad. Patti -
Well my surgery was moved to Jan 10 2012 and I am now home and resting tonight. It is all done and I am feeling pretty good. No pain to speak of. We will see what tomorrow brings

I am so excited, I have my surgery date for VSG! It is January 17th. And so it begins..........
