I was banded on Monday, and I am swollen. I started burping in recovery and still burping. I figure it is gas. I just started passing gas out the other side. And I was rejoicing...LOL I have not had a bowel movement yet. Actually, I am afraid to because of the pressure on my abdomen. I graduated from the recliner to the bed last night. I handling my clear liquid diet like a champ. I just got an appetite today. But, I can't get down alot right now. I swear there must be fluid in my band. But anywho...Im doing alot better today. Because the past few days were miserable!

My surgery is tomorrow( today- it's 1:12am) as well. I can not sleep at all! Nervous is not exactly the word to describe how I am feeling at the moment. I laid down at 10:20p and could not sleep at all. So I got up and moved to the sofa in media room and will probably stay here until 5:15 am before I start getting ready to leave for hospital. Good luck to everyone having surgery later today! I will see you on the other side. :-)

Well during my preop, The took my official weight, took some blood, scheduled me for my EGD (this past Wednesday), gave me my preop diet(which was 11 days prior to surgery) and had me fill out all this paperwork for the EGD and lapband surgery. I was at this appointment for maybe an hour at most.

Hi Everyone! I went in to the surgical center today to get my EGD this morning. I guess this is the prelude to what is to come on Monday. I finally got to meet my surgeon as well. They found a small hiatal hernia, but nothing that would stop my surgery according to Dr. Duncan. My BP was high which led me to go to my PCP and he put me on blood pressure medication to get it down before Monday. I pray this doesn't stop my surgery. I have come to far to let this keep me from my destiny!!!

Hi Fellow Lapbanders! I will be joining you on Jan 9,2012 ( YAY!!!) Anywho, can you please tell me what Vitamins I will need aside from a Multivitamin? Also, assume that this multivitamin should be in liquid form, correct? Please advise, my doctor hasn't spoken to me about this topic during my preop visit.

Hi Hotlanta Bandsters! I will be banded on 1/9/2012. I wanted to know if anyone else used Dr. Titus Duncan for their surgery? If so, can you share your experience with him? Thanks a bunch!

Hi Amee Rae! My lapband surgery is 1/9 also. Are you getting nervous? I was thinking today will be the last Monday pre lapband because this time next week, I will be banded! Totally ready for this. You will have to keep in contact. See you soon on the other side, Kemisha

So have you seen this procedure done on others? What should we expect? I am seriously nervous. I know my fiance is tire of hearing about this surgery, but I can't help it. Any information you know off hand, please share.

Well, I went to church last night and today. I had to cook the traditional meal for my fiance, which was collard greens and black-eyed peas, and I baked chicken breasts. Needless to say, I ate half a chicken breast, and the two vegetables. I treated my self with the peas, because my pre op diet said NO beans. Well cheating is costing me because I have some serious gas now. Anywho, i will be back on track with my 2 protein shakes and lean/green meal tomorrow. My EDG is Wednesday and I am a little nervous. I was just telling my fiance that this time next weekend, I will probably be in knots for my surgery next Monday morning (9th)!!!!

Pre- Lap Band Surgery Shopping List
Mish1908 replied to sandybraman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also getting band on Jan 9th. I just went shopping myself for surgery. I bought gatorade, V8, sugar free Jello, 100% unsweetened apple juice, broths, sugar free popsicles, sugar-free pudding. Good Luck! -
I too started my diet this past Wednesday and I drink Ensure High Protein Shake. So far, so good. But, I was told to drink a shake for breakfast and lunch, then for dinner eat lean chicken, fish or turkey - NOT FRIED and leafy green vegetables (no potatoes, beans or corn as vegetable). Also, no rice, pasta, flour and sugar.

Friday Lap Band Surgery - And Realized Today How I Need To Change
Mish1908 replied to sandybraman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I definitely agree with you about changing the way you think. I am having this same issue. I was talking to my fiance about this today during my preop visit. My surgery is Jan 9th and I am scared to death. I have just realized that I will not be able to eat mostly anything that I have been eating any longer. Its very scary. I was also thinking about how am I going to feel when I become physically smaller. I am 36 yrs old and have found myself just now being self confident about my weight. Now it seems I will have to get secure with being "skinny". I definitely see how this is an emotional journey. Good luck on Friday. -
I am getting banded on Jan 9, 2012. I will be attending my pre-op appt on 12/27/10 and EGD on 1/4/2012. Has anyone used Dr. Titus Duncan in Atlanta? I am trying to understand why I will not get my first fill until 2/24/2012. Does that seem like a long time for anyone? In researching others lapband experience, it seems that you would get your first fill 4 weeks after surgery and not 6 weeks. Anywho, I am very exciting my next chapter of my life. I have been overweight ALL my life. I am ready to see how the other side lives. I am also motivated by my upcoming marriage June 16, 2012. I wonder how much weight I will have lost by then. Good luck to everyone! This does not seem to be an easy experience. But I am so ready for the challenge. The end justifies the means!
