  1. So sorry to hear about this. I do hope you get well fast. I, too, have to agree that I want to hit everyone that says I took the easy way. Or.. even when they ask "Do you regret the surgery." It is too late to regret anything, I just want to get through it. This is very tough on me and it sounds like your issues are very serious. I am glad you dont have a leak. You are in my thoughts and I hope you are going to recover quickly. Just remember to sip, sip, sip.

    I Hate Eating....

Yep... I said it I hate eating. Who would believe those words came out of my mouth. What a complete life style change to adapt to. Everyday is a chore eating. It starts out good, the first bite goes down smooth after chewing chewing chewing. Then the second bite causes burping and more burping, etc. By the third bite... holy crap. I feel tightness in my chest and the pain starts. I get up and walk and burp which takes the pain away after 10 mins. Then the process starts all over again with the same outcome and I do chew chew chew and space the bites. Oh, I forgot to mention that the food I may have eaten yesterday will definitely cause me to vomit today. My calorie count and protein is way off which is causing me a slow loss. I am frustrated, very frustrated. Who wants to drink nine glasses of milk a day to meet my fluid and protein count everyday. But it seems that it is working better than eating.
  5. I am also interested in learning anyone's secrets since this is frustrating me.

The Kind Of Eggs You Eat

    Weight Loss After Vsg

It frustrates me to hear these weight losses. Dont take me wrong when I say that, I am happy for everyone. Since my surgery Jan 20 I have lost 20 pds... that is it. But I look at the whole picture. On Dec 4 I weighed 308, today I weigh 268, if I go by that number I have lost 40 pds. I do exercise three times a week for 30 mins, my calorie intake is minimal. However, I can honestly say without this surgery I wouldn't have lost that much. Good luck

    Catheter!

It is up to the doctor and you should inquire about this. I have heard others say their doctors automatically use them for the surgery. My doctor didn't, we were just required to use the restroom prior to surgery. But realistically there was nothing there since you are not allowed to eat or drink after midnight. My surgery wasn't until after 10 am. However, I did require one after surgery. After several hours of fluids I was required to urinate which didn't happen after sitting on the toilet 45 mins. The nurse explained some people's bodies shut down and need a little boosting.

    Anyone Have Surgery At/about 200?

I am 6 weeks post op. The last two weeks I have lost a total of 5 pounds. I didnt have the three/four week stall but it has been a slow weight loss. They talk about protein, protein, protein but if you constantly vomit and can only eat soups with carbs maybe this is stalling my weight loss. I feel your frustration because I feel the same.

    Wine And Whine Wednesday!

My weight loss has tremendously slow down and I am not sure why. I am only 5.5 weeks out. Everyone says eat more... it is hard getting the food down I barely eat now without vomitng. I ride my bike three times a week for thirty minutes.
  14. Did he say what your exercise should be like?
  15. We are suppose to be watching our carb and fat intake. So I am eating a cup and half a food everyday, I am not concern about the fat. However, my carbs concern me. If you can only stomach baby food( vegs), mash potatoes, milk etc. they all have carbs, even my vitamins. So this does go against what we have learned. However, if you cant stomach solid foods you have to eat something. My doctor said nine glasses of milk would work everyday if it didnt cause me to vomit. What are you guys doing differently than what the doctor prescribed and are you losing? I am having hard time losing because of my calorie intake which is a struggle every day.
  16. Sounds like my story. One day I ate fish the next the smelled made me vomit. I am having the same difficulties. Great job on your weight loss though.
  17. This happens to me when I am dehydrated. I try to meet my fluid intake every day.

    Major Bump In The Road

Good luck.. I can understand the frustration. I was denied and had to appeal my case due to my psych testing. After I went through the necessary loopholes I got approved. Keep your faith.

    Nausea With Vitamins

I had the same issues with nausea and vomiting. The chewables, liquid and capsules all made me ill. My solution approved by my doctor was fiber gummies, Flintstone Chewables with iron, B12 dissolvable under the tongue, calcium chews. The only tablets I take are my acid and depression medicine. My vitamins I take twice daily, morning and evening. In the morning and evening I drink two cups of milk which takes me approx two hours to drink. During this time I space out my vitamins. My concern is making sure I get my vitamins everyday and this works very well for me.
  21. I need to try that Unjury Protein. A lot of times I cant meet my protein requirements. However, I hate my protein drinks. I drink a lot of milk, maybe adding the unflavored would help me. Thks for the tip. I also do share the same concern about my hair falling out. I don't think I would look good in wigs (LOL).
  22. -liquids speed up the passage of food through the stomach and ruin the beneficial effect of slow emptying of food from your new stomach pouch. If you have a drink immediately before your meal you may also find that your stomach is still full and you can't eat your meal. So avoid fluids half an hour before your meals, and for one hour afterwards. -Drinking before you eat also lubricates the stomach, drinking while you eat flushes food through that you instead want to sit in your stomach to provide that "full" feeling. Basically, it slows our weight loss according to my doctor.

I've Eaten Out Twice This Weekend...

My family and I went out twice this week, once to Red Lobster and once to Taco Bell. The mash potatoes at Red Lobster were tasty and slide down fine, well the few teaspoons my sleeve could handle. Refried Beans at Taco Bell was another story. One bite and I was ready to vomit, the second bite I knew my choice was a bad one.
  24. I dont think your dehydrated but after excercising I do find it helpful to drink a protein shake and a cup of Powerade Zero. This has helped me when I do ride my bike and was experiencing dizziness. You are doing great with your excerising routine, definitely call your doctor.

    Anyone Have Headaches Post Op?

My headaches are caused by being dehydrated. The doctor said to stop focusing on eating and worry about my fluids. I get a lot of my protein from drinking milk which counts towards my fluid intake. It is challenging every day to drink but it has helped my headaches.
