  1. Good one! Got it on my surgery bag list!
  2. Thats me exactly! My BMI is 34.9, with co-morbidity issues (sleep apnea, high cholesterol, fatty liver). I know how to eat right and I don't mind exercising, its just that if I don't STARVE myself, I can't lose weight. I had my consult yesterday and my surgery is scheduled for 12/31 and I'm excited. This is just a tool, like eating right and exercising, to help me reach and maintain my goal without doing it over and over (which is the definition of insanity, you know: doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result!) I just want to feel NORMAL, not like I'm continually on a diet I've got your back, chica!
  3. WOO HOO! Had my initial/first consultation this morning and since I'm self-pay and already had most of the tests (sleep study, blood work last week, etc), my surgery is NEXT THURSDAY!!!!!!! So excited - everyone at True Results-Richardson is awesome. Spent approximately 2 hours there, first with the intake person, then with the PA, had an EKG and lung test, then met with the surgery coordinator. I was really surprised when they said I could have it done so soon, but really glad I don't have to wait. Nothing special before surgery; I have to get some blood work done tomorrow morning and my husband has to give me a shot of Lovenox (a type of heperin) twice a day because I take blood thinners for a mechanical heart valve. Can't eat or drink anything after midnight before my surgery (which is typical) and that's it. So I'm going to spend a few days getting things together for post-surgery: Clear liquids the first week, puddings, mashed potatoes, cream of wheat, etc. the second, and solid foods the third week before I go back for my first post-op appointment. I wish I could hug all of you - I am so excited!

Hey From Vermont :) I'm New

Hi, Krystyne! I'm new, too - Jeongbu met over the weekend, so it looks like we're all going to go through this together from the beginning. I'm having my initial consultation tomorrow morning; my insurance won't cover the surgery, so I'm self-pay - I hope that means I'll get to schedule my surgery sooner, since I won't have to jump through any insurance hoops. I'm so sorry about your miscarriages, but I admire your attitude - I think we're all going to do GREAT! Look at the support we have already!
  5. My appointment is at 9:30 tomorrow morning and I'm so excited! Will be leaving here around 6:00-6:15 because of the Dallas rush hour traffic and should be back early afternoon. Wish me luck!
  6. Well, hopefully this will be the first of many appointments in Richardson and we'll be able to get together after one of them!
  7. Good idea, Dianne - I have a counted cross-stitch sampler that I've been working on for 3 years - that will be a good project! So glad we're all going through this together!
  8. Isn't it funny when you realize you've just had enough? I'm ready to get this show on the road - I'd have the surgery tomorrow, if I could. I am so looking forward to having this tool - I've dieted all of my life and I'm TIRED of it. I know how to eat right and I've bought a Tread Climber, so 2012 is going to be my year too! Toast to you, chica!
  9. Thank you so much! Since I'm going to be driving from Tyler, I was a little nervous, but I'm reading great things about True Results on the forum and you've just reinforced my belief that they're the right people to go to. I'll let you know how it went on Wednesday after my appointment.
  10. I'm so glad to find someone that's been to True Results in Richardson! I have my initial consultation on Wednesday (12/21) because I don't have a good feeling about the doctor here in Tyler - can you tell me about your experience with True Results? I'm going to be self-paying.....
  11. Minor setback today, ladies - BC/BS won't cover my surgery, so I'm going to be paying for it. I have an appointment scheduled for 1/10 with a doctor here locally because my internist recommended him, but I haven't heard or read anything positive about him, so I'm going to Dallas on Wednesday (about 90 miles away) for a consultation. At least since I'm paying for it myself, I don't have to jump through the insurance hoops and I'll (hopefully) get to have the surgery sooner.

Dr. Hugh Babineau in Tyler, TX?

I have an appointment scheduled with Dr Babineau in January, but after reading these posts (and talking to some people), I just don't have a good feeling about Dr Babineau. Have an appointment on Wednesday in Richardson at True Results.
  13. Good for you! I found out today that my insurance won't cover my surgery, so it's going to be self-pay. I had initially scheduled an appointment with a doctor locally, but after reading some of the forums here, I have an appointment on Wednesday in Richardson (Dallas). I'm so excited!

Anyone use Care Credit for financing?

I used Care Credit for my eye surgery and am planning on using it for my Lap Band surgery. I haven't had any problems - had a 2-yr 0% interest plan, so I paid it off. I don't know what the terms are going to be for the Lap Band surgery yet, but since I'm determined to do this, it pretty much doesn't make any difference at this point.
  15. Me too! I have my initial consultation on 1/10/12! Good luck to all of us!
  16. Hi, Cyndie! You can tell us all about your experience - I'm excited for you! I know what you mean about food, but look at this as a tool to manage how you eat, rather than have food manage you. And think about all of the cool clothes you can ask for next Christmas!
  17. Not yet - sometime this week. They're supposed to call me tomorrow and let me know when. Where do you live?

    Almost A Week Already???

You'll have that air pressure under your collar bones for a few days. When they do the procedure, they pump air into you and it rises. When I had my gallbladder out, that was the worst - doctor said to walk as much as possible, take tylenol for the pain and eventually it will work its way out of your system
  19. Oh, good! We can go through this together! Have you seen your doctor yet?

Dr. Hugh Babineau in Tyler, TX?

I was referred to Dr Babineau as well - does anyone have any recent experiences they can share?
  21. Stuffing myself like a Christmas goose, Loretta! How long did it take for BC/BS to approve you?
  22. What were BC/BS requirements? I'm a little nervous that I won't be approved because my BMI is only 34 - but I have sleep apnea, fatty liver disease, and high cholesterol.
