I'm just going to leave this right here.

I have two awesome sons who I admire and.love deeply. I am genuinely friends with my EX I have amazing friends who love me flaws and all! My 2 lil dogs keep me so happy! I ride horses like a madwoman - love it! I can talk to anyone, anywhere about anything. ..comes in handy! I have a great career! I am half my former size...maintaining for years now. A dream come true! I am madly in love with a wonderful man; his primary flaw is an addiction to FOX news and Trump-o-mania, but hey, nobody's perfect. My number one brag ; I live a happy life now and people who know me have told me it inspires them to strive for the same! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using the BariatricPal App

    Epic Weekend!

@@eliminnowp I rode when I was obese, but it was slow and careful... for both me and my horse. Now, I get on just about any horse and ride like a demon. Life is good!
  4. I met someone out dancing...we are going to dinner later this week. I never get asked out, it's a Seattle thing, so this is a good thing to experience!
  5. I was high BMI, had the sleeve. i had an irrational fear of the gastric bypass at the time. My band to sleeve was Dec 2011, I lost over 150# and am maintaining reasonably well. My perspective now is that they are BOTH good procedures, the RNY has way more data/history and for that reason alone is a good, rational choice. I think you have to pick what you believe in. 80% of this battle is a mental one, and believing in it is a great start! Good luck - just do it!

The warning signs were all there...i was so stupid

I know the feeling, but here is what I think about this topic. I think you are a better person because you REALLY tried, you were "all in". you picked wrong, but your attitude is right. I had this conversation with my adult son who ended a 5 year relationship about a year or so after he should of. He told me that I had done the same thing, but we were RIGHT for sticking it out as long as we did.... I think you have nothing to be ashamed of/sorry for.

    Post Your Silly Rant

Ok, best I can tell glaikit bairn means "silly baby" - is that right?
  8. Our stats are somewhat similiar. I started my pre surgery diet at 308 (lifetime high more in the 350 range) and I got down to about 190 or so in about 8 months. i stalled out and had to really really work it to get to my goal weight of 158. I went low carb and did high intensity exercise... it was a big push to lose those last 35-40# but it is possible! I am rooting for you to make it to your goal too!!!

Thank you for saving her. Life is so wonderful, I wish everyone could feel that way.

Why do some folks try to ruin this forum?

@@jintycb I have no idea what you are sayin'... but I think I agree! @@kmorri Don't apologize for posting this, and I appreciate your recent observations. My main point isn't that we are perfect because we have more "years" but rather - can't we give each other the benefit of the doubt? Like the person who reemed me for posting about dating on the singles forum. Ya, I get that you can't tell what forum you are in from your phone, but rather than lecturing, how about assuming that I am NOT an idiot until proven otherwise? I totally get how emotional this whole "life changing" business is, and I do genuinely try to cut people some slack, let stuff roll off, I just ask for a little of that in return toward us "vets". There is a reason you see few people more than a year or two out - get sick of being lambasted. I am just trying to make it to my 5 years (band to sleeve revision) in December of this year. The reason I hang out here is that a few people on this very forum influenced me to have the surgery that saved my life, helped me lose half my body weight, which led to the wonderful life i have now. I hope that I can have that impact on just one person. Also, I still need support too!

Why do some folks try to ruin this forum?

@ thank you for your comments - and I had the same perspective when I started out, I WANTED to hear from people who had succeeded, failed and everything in between. I was inspired and informed. Lets be clear - I have no interest in talking about other people behind their backs. I don't read most of the posts and really am not all that interested in that sort of thing. I am just tired of being constantly chastised as a "vet" and I don't actually understand WHY since I try to be supportive and share my perspectives. Not saying I am perfect, because I am not, but my intention is never to belittle or make people feel bad .... yet it seems that is the interpetation over and over again. A few months ago I was chastised by someone who is new to the forums for posting a topic about dating musings in either the singles or venus and mars forums (don't recall). Among other things I was told it wasn't helpful to talk about non WLS related things. Well, IT IS TO ME. The way a lot of this reads, the only people who need support are newbies. I can imagine that 5 years later they might think differently. Maintaining massive weight loss and building a new lifestyle isn't exactly easy and I have relied on this forum for many years now for ongoing support in living the life I want and deserve.

How was your 5:2 day today?

@@Georgia adorable photos! I just got back from an amazing horsey mountain weekend. We saw UP CLOSE - a bear and a bunch of mule deer. That deer was so close, we could see her beautiful eyelashes. We also saw an elk, across a meadow. Of course lots of birds, butterflies, flowers etc... but the most amazing thing is we saved a golden retriever dog from maurading deer. Seriously. they must of been does with fawns they were hiding but they had that dog pinned down and whenever he tried to escape, the deer went after him. We had to shield him with our horses and escort him home! i am riding a spooky arab borrowed horse and was thankful he stayed steady through that peculiar adventure!

What made you get a tat?

In principle, i have wanted a tat for decades. I still don't have one because i have yet to find something that I want permanently stamped on my body. some tats are very cool, but alot of them aren't that great - it is hard to find a wonderful artist. Anyway, at this point, I am staying tat free!
  14. I am sorry you are going through this. i didn't have the same experience, but I felt sort of... out of touch, surreal. Everything tasted weird, everything seemed "off". By the time i was 12 weels out I felt I was returning to feeling human again. I hope this passes quickly for you; hang in there and keep seeking support.

I missed it... why were people offended by your list? I mean, really now... it's just some self reflection with some silliness.

Why do some folks try to ruin this forum?

I have a simple solution. Create a PRIVATE vets forum where people who have a few years experience can post without having to worry about a simple sentence being misconstrued. Sometimes vets are snarky, but most of the time it is just that people are so quick to be offended, so quick to feel "yelled at" when that isn't the intention. I don't read the forums as much as I used to; but most of the nastiest insults and name calling I have read have been written by the "victims". I get it that WLS an emotional topic, a huge life changing experience, lots of ups and downs and I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, too bad that isn't reprocipicated.

How was your 5:2 day today?

I have not had nearly the horror stories as yours! Honestly Denise I would give up! I am very happy and busy these days but not doing too great with getting back to 145-150# range! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using the BariatricPal App
  18. Love it! My beau is 6'1" and about 180#. We share meals ALL the time and I am embarrassed to admit, I think I eat more than he does! I have not told about my WLS but after 5 years, it just isn't how I define myself...There are alot of things that don't seem too important to the current situation. What the buggers won't do to avoid having to "deal" with the empty. Sadly does not improve with the 20s.... Hehehe!!!! You mean you haven't found a recipe that calls for a thimbleful of milk, a splash of orange juice or a microscopic dab of Peanut Butter either? Good it seems I'm not alone! Ahhhhhh kids. Maybe husbands too. . . . . Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Post Your Silly Rant

I am driving a truck and fully loaded horse trailer down the highway. I am doing the speed limit (or maybe 5 over) minding my own business in the right lane. Invariably, someone passes me, cuts over in front and slams on the brakes. I think they can't see around the rig so they want to get around me but want to drive slower, but MAYBE they just have a death wish. The reason I leave a gap in front of me is because the big truck and trailer can't stop as fast as your Prius... Getting in front of me and hitting your brakes defeates the whole purpose of the safe stopping distance. Its very annoying and dangerous and happens frequently.

    Weight gain after plastics?

It is quite likely retained water/swelling. Eat high protein, stay hydrated.

    Worst Experience so far?

Kidney stone; not sure it is related to WLS..but it happened when I was over 4 years out. The pain was off the hook. Sent from my KFJWI using the BariatricPal App
  23. Here is another perspective. ...I had sleeve in Dec 2011...took me 14 months to lose 150#. For the first time in my life I am maintaining a normal size for over 3 years now!!! The whole thing with WLS isn't how fast you lose it, it's how long you keep it lost! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using the BariatricPal App

    The over 40 crowd

Had WLS in late 40s, now early 50s. I think I am more...conscious..of enjoying the good life NOW then I would have been when younger.

    Spouses... jealousy

That is so tough! I would ask him, without sarcasm "what would it take for you to love and trust me like you used to? " if he asked to see my phone (text, FB, email etc) I would show him. Then when he sees that you are not texting with your boyfriend I'd ask the really tough question. .."are you willing to go to marriage counseling so we can work out whatever the real problem is?"
