Sleeve Verses Rny - Friend Pleading That I Shouldn't Get Sleeve
vsg30815 replied to HOLLAND's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well, I can tell you why I didn't think RNY wasn't for me!!! 1.) malabsorption (multiple Vitamins daily) 2.) rerouting of intestines (increased risk of leakages) 3.) rapid weight loss (loose skin) 4.) dumping (can't eat any sugars) Those are just a few for me. I still wanted to have a normal life and eat in moderation and the sleeve has done that for me. I personally haven't had any complications but I've seen some on BOTH sides. I choose what was best for ME!! I take 2 vitamins daily ~ Calcium and Multivitamin. My labs have been SUPERB!!! I suffered from PCOS, PRE-DIABETES, snoring, shortness of breath ~ all of which are non existent 6 months post op today!!! I was even told ill never conceive ~ after years of seeing a fertility specialist and no success ~ I'm now 13 weeks pregnant! Me and my baby are both healthy right now!!! I still exercise, I've ran a 5K (NEVER could have seen this 6 months ago) I sleep and feel better about myself! My advice, do your research for whats best for YOU!!!! You've heard both sides now....YouTube has a wealth of successful stories for both RNY and the sleeve. My channel is jmcbribe. Also I have a YouTube friend name Millaplus3 that had RNY and she looks BEAUTIFUL!!!! Ask questions!!!! Then make your decision!! Best wishes to you! I started out at 283. I'm 186 today. (6 months...even though I lost slower than an RNY patient, I liked the fact it gave me a chance to tone my skin) But 90+ lbs in 6 months!!!! Who can do that without any surgery???? vsg30815 replied to KristinaRN's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Congrats to you!!! I'm 6 months post op and 13 weeks pregnant! I too have/had PCOS and was told I would never conceive....well....it was definitely the weight holding me back. Baby is healthy, I am fine!! I haven't been sick or had any cravings. I have lost more weight and the docs don't want that. HW was 283, today I'm 186 (almost at goal) We are very happy! Best wishes to everyone!!! Sent from my iPad using VST -

Vsg And Pregnancy-Losing Weight After Baby
vsg30815 replied to NaomiesMommy's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
She is a real cutie!!! Congrats and my sincere condolences on the twins. I'm currently 13 weeks pregnant, it was a shocker to me too after being told ill never conceive and having PCOS as well. I'm 6 months post op VSG. 283lbs was my highest and I'm currently 186. I'm still losing at this point and my docs are really discouraging it at this point. I'm not trying to lose, but I still walk and do step aerobics for exercise. She's a healthy active baby but need the weight my docs say so that she can grow. I'm concerned as well about the weight gain but really need to gain for her benefit. I definitely can eat more but don't have any cravings. I finished a sandwhich the other day but was too stuffed to add any veggies or fruits. Best wishes to you all!!! Ill be following the post! I plan to breast feed as well to help with weightloss. I am 8 weeks pregnant and 5 months post op VSG. Was told I would NEVER conceive and have PCOS. I am elated and terrified!! I am seeing a high risk Obgyn who has assured me everything looks great! I've heard the baby's heartbeat and already seen an ultrasound. What a gift!! I feel no different right now, no morning sickness or cravings. Just a little more sleepy and BREAST THAT I CAN NOT TOUCH from being sooooooo sore. Does the soreness go away anytime soon???? Highest weight was 283 I'm currently 191 ~ was hoping to get to goal of 175 ~ it'll happen. I still do step aerobics. Just finished a 5 week bootcamp ~ found out in middle of camp I was pregnant ~ just did modified exercises for the rest of class. I feel the exercise keeps me going and energized for the most part. I'm a different person from 5 months ago ~ I love to exercise now! Best wishes to you all!! I hope to update monthly on progress and gains. Pic is 283 / 191

Well I'm back to report some great news!!! After being told that I would NEVER conceive, I am now 5 1/2 weeks pregnant with my 1st child!! I am 5 months post op VSG (May 1, 2012). We were not trying and I definitely wouldn't encourage pregnancy this early after surgery but we are ELATED!!!! I am seeing a high risk obgyn to monitor my pregnancy, so far so good!! No morning sickness or weird cravings, just really sore breast!!! I can barely touch them they hurt so bad. So ladies, don't give up hope!!!! Pregnancy is DEFINITELY possible after WLS!!!! Just use protection or other forms of contraception while going through your WL journey!!! Will keep you posted!!!! Sent from my iPad using VST

Did Surgery Make Your Period Come Earlier And Stronger?
vsg30815 replied to DanityChai's topic in The Gals' Room
Had surgery May 1st, 2012 and have been regular so far. PCOS symptoms seem to SLOWLY be fading away with the exception of the hair issue. Even the "buffalo hump" is disappearing! Attaching my before and current photo! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY SLEEVE and this journey! Sent from my iPad using VST -

Scared Newbie On Board
vsg30815 replied to Thyckness718's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Depends on insurance! I had to wait six months but completed a lot of labs and test in the first 2 months and concentrated on my supervised diet! I am vlogging my journey as well as many others on YouTube! My username is: jmcbribe and I'm one month post op! Don't regret a thing!! 23lbs down since surgery and 54lbs overall!
