    February Sleevers

I did all of my pre-registration yesterday and they re-confirmed that my time to arrive is 5:15 w/ surgery around 7:15 am. I'm only 30 min from the hospital and I can't imagine the doctor's office calling to change my time. I feel lucky that I'm going in at that hour since no one is ahead of me. Officially 1 day, 9 hours to go!!! WhooHoo!!!
  3. Way to be optimistic about it You will be in the hospital soon!

How long did you take off work?

I'm planning on taking 3 weeks. Depending on how the 2 wk post op goes, I could go back earlier. I'm working up until the day before surgery. I have a full-time desk job and a part time desk job that I'm a bit concerned about. Not sure if I will have the energy to do both, but we will see.
  5. I'll ask today when I meet w/ the hospital, but just curious, did anyone take a sleeping pill the night before their surgery? I'm already feeling a bit anxious and I'm an insomniac as is, I can't imagine how much rest I'll get Thursday night! I know obviously I'll get some on Friday when they put me to sleep, but still, I don't want to go in groggy and I have to arrive at the hospital at 5:15 AM. What did you guys do to stay calm the night before?

    Ambien the night before?

That's not depressing. I thought of leaving a note to my husband just in case...Still haven't made up my mind on that one. But yes, you just want to have things in order before you go to the hospital.

    February Sleevers

My hospital pre-registration is today! Anything I should know before heading in at 1pm today? I'm just hoping nothing has changed w/ my date & time. The bariatric office said sometimes they have to change it and you will find out when you register at the hospital. I think that's the thing that I'm most nervous about right now. That it's been pushed back for some reason. Then again, I'm supposed to arrive at 5:15 am. What are the odds it gets rescheduled?

    1 more week!

I'm a couple of days out and I'm still waiting for something to come up and bite me on the butt! We'll see today, I have my pre-op registration meeting w/ the hospital at 1pm today.

    SLEEVED IN FOUR DAYS!

    Hospital just called!

Congrats to you! And I hear ya, never went so long w/o actually chewing in my life Keep us posted and enjoy your day
  11. Have you been to any of their support groups? If so, what do you think of them?
  12. I've been on my pre-op diet for over 2 weeks now and have 3 more days to go including today. What has been amazing about this is that I haven't had to focus on the food. It's not a question of "what am I gonna make for dinner?" or romanticizing my next meal, because it's another freakin shake! So, I feel like I have a glimpse of what life would be like post-op when food isn't the focus of my time and attention and just finding other things I enjoy to fill that space. I only had a couple of days where I was really hungry. I have to drink water and find other things to do to occupy my mind until the feeling passes becasue food isn't an option now and it won't be after surgery.
  13. I told them I'm having surgery and try to schedule them as late as possible in the day. That way, I can flex my time and not have to say anything about where I'm going.
  14. No second thoughts right now. I'm too excitited to get this surgery done and looking forward to the rest of my life. i look at this surgery as a gateway to being thinner, healthier and fully enjoying/engaging w/ life once again. W/ that perspective, I can't think about feeling scared, nervous or anxious.
  15. You will be fine. Let me know what your date is!
  16. Dr Enochs from Bariatric Specialists of NC. I'll be in Rex, what about you?
  17. Hey guys! Thanks for starting this topic I'll be on here next week posting from the hospital in Raleigh, NC. Can't wait to share my hospital experience.
  18. I've been feeling like this lately too! This weekend is my last pre-op weekend too and I spent the day cleaning the house & my car. And I've got all of my vitamins, shakes, meds, etc here at home. I've literally turned this place into a little post-op fortress so I can stay home and recouperate in peace. And I can't believe no one has called to cancel or change the date yet. I'm expecting something to happen that will pull the plug on it all...But right now, it just seems surreal to have gotten this far and it's just a matter of days before I'm on the loser's bench
  19. Ok guys, I've been sticking w/ my pre-op diet and have been sucessful this far. However, right now, I'm doing nothing but liquids and I'm not getting a lot of calories right now. I'm doing 3 shakes a day and I'm only taking in 330 cals! To me, that seems drastically low and I don't want to put my body in starvation mode. So, what are some good ways to get calories in and stick w/ the pre-op regimin. I'm curious how many calories did you get in right before surgery?
  20. One lously little week to go and I'm so excited. This weekend, we finish cleaning up the house. Is it crazy I'm too superstitious to actually start packing the suitcase until Tuesday when I have my pre-op? I have the stuff I want to take ready and just sitting in a plastic bag, but nothing is together and organized. I'm just ready more so than ever to get in there and get this over with! And it just seems like the days can't move along fast enough.

    **count down*** Excited

Congrats ladies. If all goes well, this time next week, I'll actually be in the hospital for surgery! I'm jumping up and down inside because I'm sooo excited that it's really just 7 lousy days away. Knock on wood, the office hasn't called to say that something's chaged or getting re-scheduled or anything and I'm taking this as good news Tuesday I have my pre-op and Thursday is clear liquids for the day. Finally feel like I'm in the home stretch Your date will be here before you know it!!!
  22. I haven't shared the news w/ family & friends yet. I was planning on maybe telling a couple of people after I've had surgery. I think they would be shocked & surprised I took this step, but ultimately supportive. I've been focused on connectiong w/ people who have had surgery in the past and going to local support groups to share what I'm going through when I'm off the boards.
  23. I've started working out 5x week, journaling, not eating/drinking at the same time, no alcohol, no caffeine, and drinking 64 oz of water daily.

    So scared...

I felt that way after I got my date and it's just now starting to subside. I'm trying to focus on life after surgery and keeping myself busy in the days leading up. I'm working right up to surgery (last day at work 2/14, surgery 2/15) and getting things ready for post op now so I can keep my mind off of the day itself. Talk to your doctor and ask about their complication rates/mortality rates, etc and that might help you calm down too, at least it did for me.
