    Surgery Date May 15

Hi. Please don't listen to any negative comments. I can't tell you how this surgery has improved my life. I had a great marriage before my surgery but now - 4 months after - its fantastic. My husband is constantly telling me how great I look. Clothes shopping is fun now. And food is way better! Why? Because I'm eating much more frequently. And I'm alot more selective in my food choices. I eat what I want and I'm not on a diet anymore. You are making the right decision. Your aunt may mean well-but she's wrong. Good luck!! We're all here for you.

    Mexico, Really?

Hi. I'd be interested in hearing more about your surgery in Coata Rico. How did you hear of your surgeon? Do you have before and after pics on the forum? And one final question, what's his name?? Thanks so much.

    Andrea Still Losing Weight

My sleeve was done on Jan 18th 2012. This picture was taken on April 8th. Weight loss is obvious but I still have a long way to go
  5. This was taken Thanksgiving Day 2011. I wanted to make sure my big butt wasn't left out of the photo.

    Soooo Scared

Everyone starts out scared until they do their research and become more educated about the procedure, their surgeon and what's to be expected before, during and after the surgery. I was sleeved on Jan 18th and I'm thrilled with my results so far. I was a self-pay and flew to Mexico to have the surgery. I read this forum and others for weeks prior to the big day. I watched a YOUTUBE video and saw an actual procedure. Even though I used a different surgeon I went on dr Alvarez's website a lot because he posts YOUTUBE videos on a monthly basis and answers every question his patients ask him online. I am eating regular food and have lost 36 lbs so far. I never had any problems at all after my surgery. No pain whatsoever. I started out at 230 lbs and was wearing size 18 pants. I'm down to a 14 now and the difference in the way I look and feel is amazing. And I'm just at the beginning. There are so many terrific benefits that come along with shedding pounds you won't fully appreciate the list until it happens to you. No one can make this decision for you but you. But I'm here to tell you that you are very lucky to be so young and able to have this wonderful life-changing experience. I am 58 and wish I had heard of it sooner. I spent countless years as a fat woman in unfashiionable clothes stuffing cake down my throat instead of enjoying life as a thin heathy person. One of the myths of this surgery is that people think they have to give up food forever. The reality is- because you can't fit in as much food as you did pre-sleeve, you wind up eating more frequently. I feel like I'm eating all day. I am not on a diet anymore and if I feel like eating a few bites of cake I eat it. I'm conscious of carbs but I don't dwell on them like I did in the past. So the bottom line is - educate yourself and then decide. If this isn't for you , then at least you'll be making your decision based on knowledge instead of fear. Good luck!
  8. Great post. Thank you for taking the time to write down all the details. I'm sure everyone who is about to be sleeved and terrified about what's ahead will be thanking you , too. Good luck with the weight loss!

http://www.wls4betterlife.com/index.html You're better off calling his cell phone.
  10. I only took 8 days off. I had my surgery at 2:30 on a Wednesday, flew home on Sunday morning (a 6 hr flight) stayed home the following week (but went out of the house a few times) and then returned to work the following Monday. I was fine. I wasn't tired at all.

Forget Sandy and read earlier posts. Everytime she opens her mouth the lies get worse. Just call dr Kelly on his cell and drop Sandy. You called his old coordinator.

Congrats and glad you're home and feeling good. Mexico was an experience right? I had a great time. Even though I had surgery I felt like I was on a mini-vacation.

I was there along with Janet56 on 1/18. Both of us are doing extremely well. Neither of us had any complications. We stay in touch with Dr. Kelly and his wife via email. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. All the back and forth blabber going on in this forum and Gastric Sleeve is just crap. The only thing the coordinators do for you is email you the pre and post diet and make hotel arrangements. Dr. Kelly's wife has taken over those tasks. Ladies, this is no big deal. Trust me. Call Dr. Kelly and speak with him yourself. I did. BTW, could you imagine calling a surgeon in the US and asking him any pre-surgery questions? Not on your life. You'd ask his nurse or someone is his office or you'd get a pre-printed "what I need to know about my gastric sleeve surgery" pamphlet. I know surgery is a big deal, and everyone on this forum should choose the surgeon they feel most comfortable with. But seriously, all this wasted talk regarding the coordinators is making everyone take their eyes off the important stuff - the doctor.
  15. Hi Seannie - you can send me an email to Andrea.morgan@msn.com. I was sleeved by dr Kelly on 1/18. What would you like to know?
