Hey, my port sits right next to my belly button, so close if I put my finger in my belly button I can feel it! -weirdest thing ever- I'm 16 years old, been banded six months, have only had two fills but it's ok, havnt lost much since the op but it's slow weight loss right I've lost 30 kg all together from pre op diet to now. It's been a crazy ride but it's so worth it I have had a couple rude comments from so called friends but I figured if they weren't supportive it was there problem, I'm doing what's best for me! I have struggled my whole life with weight, was always a foot taller then everyone and a chubby girl. Now I'm average height!!! Haha umm i wasn't able to leave the bed for more then ten minutes almost eight months ago, I was home schooled for two years, now I'm back at school and I've joined air force cadets and I'm so much more energic

I do this really weird hiccup burp thing. That's how I know I'm done! Or I feel full. Either way, the hiccup burp thing is normally my stop sign.

When I first started I was fitting 26-28 I'm 5'8 I'm now 20-22.larger up the top lol. I was 170kg, now I'm 142kg!

My boyfriend was supportive, we were only friends when I got the band done, he would ask questions about it, and wanted to know how it all worked, it was really good, he himself is a bit chubby, he wants to loose weight too but hasn't looked into getting the band, I think next time he brings up weightloss I'm gonna suggest the band. He's older then me so it's gonna be easier for him to get insurance for it, I'm 16, the first doc I went to only did 21 and over because of insurance. I was 15 at the time, I was so happy when I found my dr. My bmi was something like 56, I'm 5'8 and was 170kg. I'm now 142kg my bmi is 48 been banded 6 months so it's a great feeling, when I was ten, sitting in a doctors clinic, having every test done to see why I was obese, the doctor came straight out and said to my mum infront of me, she's gonna die before she's 21. 8 months ago, I was bed ridden, i had chronic back pain, crushed L4 and L5 plates in my lower back and sciatic nerve damage and out of school for two years, that was from being so big. I have now restarted school this year, I have a social life now, I'm starting to get more confident, it's just a great feeling, I can do so much more now. When ur husband see how much your life is improving with a band, he will understand I don't regret a thing, everything leading up to now, has made me who I am today, I have just begun living life to it's fullest everyday. if you think it's right for you, tell him, he's your husband, he should support you if he has seen the trouble you endore.

Oh and I have a small bump where the port is, it's only little so you can't really tell!

Doctors do there port sites differently, my doc who did the operation also does my fills, so he put the port on the left next to my belly button, i can feel it, it's kinda odd pulling feeling, and if I put my finger in my belly button I can feel the actual port, it's so weird, at least I know it's in there! Getting fills are awesome! It's a really odd thing, it doesn't hurt, just a kind of pulling feeling and a few popping noises I've been banded since September last year, it's been great so far!

Yes, it's great. I have school I'm getting a job soon, I have a partner, it's all happening. I'm young, but I know what's best for myself, I don't take abuse from anyone anymore. I dont see the point. anyways it's a school night, ive got a test tomorrow -can't say I missed that haha- thank you.

Hello I don't feel a thing, I can poke my port, only of corse when it pokes me.. I swear I could just break out into a poke war with it!! Evil alien. It dosent hurt, it's just an odd pulling kind of feeling, as far as feeling the actual band I don't feel it at all.

I get cold easily now too, though I live in the northern territory Australia, so it's always hot here, though lately I don't seem to be so much bothered by the heat any more it gets up to 40d*C thats 104?? I think, some days its 42 which is 107.6. So it's good not carrying the extra layer!

I'm 16 I was banded in September last year I have no regrets. I thinks it's the best thing for me, I have struggled since I was a baby with my weight. Have always been huge! Now I'm loosing at a nice steady pace. It's sad that ur friends are against it, but its really not there choice, it's your life, your the one making the choice to change the way you live, your choosing to become healthier. I get the "your taking the easy way out" but I'm not, I just am making my meals smaller like every body kept telling me to do! Don't you hate that? They always say "don't eat so much" now that u can't it's "you took the easy way!" it's mind boggling. Anyways, all it does is restrict the intake of food u have, you still have to work up a sweat to get the fat burning! It's hard, but the lapband is a great tool. Like insaid, I'm 16, I have no regrets. I needed help, lapband offered me a chance of life when I needed it most. I have since lost 30 kgs and am back in school. Im still huge, but I now have life. I went from a tight 28 to a size 20-22 pants it's the best feeling ever. I have friends who are against, but over time, they see the happier side of you, the more confident side.

Thank you yer, those people just don't seem to be able to get there heads around things. My mum is proud, I'm happy with it, it's working, and I'm finally doing things. It's been a hell of a ride. Every bit of it was worth it though I don't regret anything. I just got my cadet uniform today. My mum cried, she was so happy, it made me mad to think I let it get that far as to how bad life had gotten. I'm still large, but I was larger! I carried 30 kilos the other day, it was insane. It amazes me what the human body can/ has to do.

For my wk of liquids I stayed on with juices and a breakfast drink called up n go, its a little thicker so it was good, I'm not a fan of soups, but I did have pumpkin soup and made my own runny soup type stuffs.

Yes I live it so far, its just a tool but when used the right way it gets u places. I havnt been back to school in almost two years because of my weight, I was 170kg and because of that presure on my back two disks in my lower spine slipped and tore my sciatic nerve. So was out of action for 6 months then it took a further 6 months to recover fully then I was just to big to risk it again so we waited a year until I was 16 so I could get the band. Since then I have lost 30 kg. It's the beat feeling ever. I walked into school and people hugged me, no really spoke to me while I was gone, which was worst. I couldn't go anywhere and no one wanted to come around. Not that I could've done much but lay on a couch. So being hugged today was just so nice I'm from the northern territory australia I walked home from school first time in two years today. I couldn't be happier. So if I'm happy with my lap band? HELL YER!! haha best choice for me

I'm 16 I havnt been to a school in over two years because of my weight, I had a scaitic nerve problem which was caused by two slipped disk, I was banded 17th sept 2011. I have lost 30 kg since and am going back to school Tuesday. I'm so excited to have a social life! I was out of action after the band for only 3 days, I wore my favorite pjs and would get up and out of bed every half hour to help with my tummy muscles so, just go slow. It doesnt hurt for too long and ur most pain is while ur in the hospital room.

I go for my second fill tomorrow, and I was told it's normal to not be full and eating larger meals because my band is still loose, so I wouldn't worry to much, if you are eating slowly an listening to what your band is doing then it should be fine. I eat 1 salad wrap for lunch whereas about two weeks ago could only eat half. But you should listen to your doctor to and tell him your still hungry. You prob won't hit the green zone for a while so don't stress! I doubt your gonna stretch your pouch, I think that only happens if you eat like that for months on end. Hope I was useful! Jessie
