Marci, I've heard that before. What happens exactly when the band slips? What do you have to do? Just curious. -
Just Checking In - How's Everyone Doing. Got Another Fill Today.
Lovemythreems posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Everyone, Its been a while since I've checked in with everyone. I hope you are all doing well. I am almost at my 6 month timeframe and the last 3 weeks have been long and slow. I have been up and down 2 pounds. I am also hungry than I have been in the past and I can eat about a cup of food at each sitting. I started working out (just a little) so I think I am just at a plateu. I decided to go see my doctor just in case. Oh boy, I received a big fill today at 1cc. My doctor has always told me that she can tell how tight I am by the resistance she feels when she sticks the neddle in. Today there was no resistance so she "filled" me up I hope its not too much as I have never gotton stuck so far and don't want to! How's everyone doing on their journeys? Tina -
Biggest Challeges This Far?
Lovemythreems replied to lexx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm about 4 months post op and my biggest challenge has been my inability to eat meat. It just doesn't sit well with me anymore & it makes me sad:(. Let's face it, I'm a southern born black girl and we will fry up, smother or sautee anything with 4 legs:). I can't do steak at all & only dark chicken, which I'm not a huge fan of. It's frustrating. I think I may have to just stick to seafood & vegetarian style dishes. My fav go to snack is chex mix cereal, wheat or cinnamon. I put it in a plastic bag & through it in my purse. Buying the cereal is cheaper than the pre-made snack bags, plus you can add your own goodies if you like. I also eat a ton of Luch meat as a snack. I'm sorta a rebel when it comes to drinking, I still drink during my meal & it doesn't seem to effect me. I don't drink as much but I do take a few sips. -
I'm Actually Kinda Hungry....is This Normal?
Lovemythreems replied to BeeBlueHeron's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was hungry day 3 as well. Not all lose their appetite. There isn't any limit to liquids. I made myself a smoothie & that helped as well as instant breakfast shakes & of course Protein powder in almost everything:) Congrats:) -

Saw my doc today for my 3 month post op and I'm 20 lbs down. So excited. That's good for me. I met my 3 month goal. I've had 2 fills for a total of 6ccs and there was no need for a 3rd today. Have a great night all!

How To Tighten A Lap Band Without A Port Head?
Lovemythreems replied to model's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Model, I first saw this thread last night & must admit that some of the responses continued to bother me today. 1st let me say that I apologize for some of the flat out mean & hateful responses. I think if you filter those you will see that there is a consensus that you should go see a doc/anywhere you can at whatever price to address your issue. It's always better to be safe than sorry. I would also like to express that I sympathize with the desire to be skinny & stay skinny so I will not pass judgement on your bmi or why you have a LapBand. So many smaller people pass judgement on the obese & i will not do the same on the skinny. Your struggle is yours alone. I will say that whatever your reason for this thread whether true or false I hope you received what you needed. It has been my experience that when people reach out in whatever form it should be respected as its a attempt to connect in some way. And if indeed this is a real person with a real issue (mental or medical), well some should be ashamed at the things we will saying hiding behind a computer & keyboard. Good luck model -
Going for my 3rd fill and I'm super nervous. The second one kicked my ass. Keeping my fingers crossed that 2 is all I need.

It didn't hurt or anything but I just felt nauseous for a couple of days. Overall I just felt kinda crappy & sluggish since I wasn't really eating. I felt better a few days after but my 1st didn't have that effect. I saw my doc today & he said that fill was my "oh f*ck" fill. Lol. I lost 5 pds in 10 days so I don't need anymore. Thank goodness I couldn't imagine getting anymore:)

Did Anyone Not Lose Until After 1St Fill?
Lovemythreems replied to Mama Mama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all, Tmf is so right & provided me much support when I was 1st banded. I too was looking at all the huge loses. In my experience it's a much slower process for most. I'm 11 weeks post op, have had 3 fills for a total of 6 ccs in a 14cc band and I've lost 15 pounds. Don't be discouraged. It takes our body awhile to figure out what going on. It will figure it out, don't worry. Green zone also takes awhile. After my 3rd fill I'm still not sure if I'm there yet. Please, please keep moving forward one day at a time:). Don't be discouraged -

Banded Yesterday
Lovemythreems replied to lrhodes46's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrat:) I was a little nauseous but never threw up. Gas x didn't help me b/c the gas is from the air from surgery. A heating pad worked best for me. It all sounds pretty normal. -
I'm not struggling with any of those & I can keep all liquids down. I did 2 years of research before getting banded. This fill just seems to be effecting differently. I certainly don't aim to overfill. I've taken it very slow thus far.

Had my 3rd fill yesterday & it messed me up. I feel super nauseous when I smell food. I know the point is too restrict but I still want some nutritiontion. I don't think it's too full I just feel yucky when I see food. Man I hope tomorrow is better. I'm hungry!

How Many Ccs Are In Your Band...need Ideas.
Lovemythreems posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all, Im going for my 3rd fill & wondering how many ccs are in your band. I know everyone is different & I'm not trying to use this for my experience. I'm just trying to determine from real people how much it took to get to the ideal point. I have a size 14 band & have 51/2 ccs so far. I'm full for about 3hours & losing slowly, which I'm okay with. Again I know it varies based on everyone personal goals & experiences. I would love to hear real life experiences. -
Help Really Bad Gas

Help!! Im Six Weeks Out And Everything Has Been Fabulous..untill Today
Lovemythreems replied to amanda01331's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Amanda, Your doing great with your weight loss. I don't think you should weigh yourself everyday if it's going to cause you stress. I weight myself about 3 times a week & if I see a pattern I can go back to my food log & figure it out. I only log my weightloss 1 a week in the am. So many thing effect our weight & you should not become a slave to the scale. Focus on how you feel & how your clothes fit. Easier said then done, I know:). -
Looking For A Mentor- Anywhere
Lovemythreems replied to sassycass830's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Cass, I was banded on May 31st after 2 years worth of research. I work for a large insurance co & after seeing good & bad results of the band i decided to read everything i could before getting surgery. It has been a life changing experience & I too make bad choices sometimes but what most important is using your tool. My husband was also banded after me so we're learning together. My weightloss has been slow by choice. I've had 2 conservative fills b/c I don't want any stuck issues. I have 2 very active teenager & don't want to spend my days throwing up:). I'm happy to text/email anytime. Having a support system is important. Private message me if interested in being buddies. Tina
