It's been a while since I have been online here. My name is Katrina. I am from Alabama. I am a mother of two and grandmother of three(triplets). I was told by my family for years that I needed to loose weight, but I made up in my mind that I can not do it for other people, I have to do it for me. I'm not all about making other people happy about my lifestyle, but making my own self happy about my lifestyle. When I decided to do it was in April 2011, because financially I was ready and support wise from my immediately family, I was ready. I went through my orientation about the surgery and met with the surgeon team to decide which surgeon I felt comfortable with. There was a diet class that I had to go through that tells you about how to eat before during and after surgery and that date I also had to select my surgeon (a wonderful man I chose-Dr. Lane). He was vert attentive to my questions and was genuinely concerned about my success. He explained the three types of surgeries and gave me the choice. The gastric sleeve, I did not know about until that day, I met with Dr. Lane. I chose the gastric sleeve because I felt this would be a better choice for me, and I am glad that I did. I meet with the doctor once a month to discuss my weight lost and what I need to do to increase my weight lost. My heighest weight was 321 beginning at age 40. I started feeling depressed and just down on myself. Since the surgery, I have felt so alive and worthy. I have lost a total of 69 pounds since December 22, 2012 and I feel great, I look great and I have a new attitude about living. My goal weight is 160, so I have about 92 pounds to go. I encourage everyone that wants to lose weight to do it for themselves and not for anyone else.
