    Stomach Pain And Nausea...

I was so sick with a head cold last week, I didn't really think of my band. I was eating what I normally eat. And out of the blue on Saturday the hubby and I where on our way to our anniversary dinner and I started getting woozy feeling. Now all day Sat. I noticed fluids going in a little slower, but they'd kind of been doing that since the weather changed. We proceeded to Wal Mart for a little shopping, I thought I was going to pass out. So I figured we where already in town, to lets go sit down at the dinner. I ended up taking a zofran to stop the nausea and called the dr. He said it was probably from mucous. I did what he told me to do. Warm liquids and mucinex. I have not ate more than a couple of small bites since Saturday. I have this pain in my stomach... feels like I'm being stabbed and my port gets puffy and painful!? So I went to the reg. pcp yesterday and he thinks I may have an infection somewhere. Today I am going to band dr to get answers. I am usually nauseous about once a month, but not enough to warrant meds. I have complain about the pain in my sternim from the start and now it's horrible. I am getting scared and worried, I put my kids on the bus and came in and cried. I don't know how you all returned to work. And lead normal lives. I struggle with pain and nausea and sometimes can't help but wonder if my body is fighting the band? All of this happening with 3 weeks of christmas. I am suppose to start work next week... I'm lucky to get through the day at the moment. I don't have the strength for anything right now I have lost about 4 pounds since Saturday, I hate loosing so fast I get goofy and freezing all the time.

    Dull Soreness At Band Area...?

I am 3 1/2 weeks out of surgery and still have pretty good soreness at band sight. Not sure if it's from hernia repair and band being done at same time. But it almost feels like heartburn too. Just had primer taken out and now able to eat mushies and get all my liquids in. I was dehydrated because I was too tight and couldn't get anything in and then had swelling in my esophagus that took almost a week to go away. So now I'm back on prilosec. I get nauseous real easy too. I am so glad to be going to the support group tonight. But is this sound normal at this stage? Just looking for others thoughts.

    Dull Soreness At Band Area...?

I too thought of wishing it gone because of the pain. I have a smoothie maker that makes awesome snow cone ice (but softer). I will have to make some just to eat plain Thanks for the idea. I just hope that it goes away soon, I return to work next week, I sub as a lunch server and there is heavy lifting. I have been released to do anything, but I took another week just to play it safe.

    Spicy Hot

I honestly don't know if it was the chili, but I do know i had 4cc filler in my band from surgery. So he took it out. He said my symptoms where not typical, but you can't compare since everyone is different. So I'm on liquids till I feel better then I can try mushies. Maybe I was just over tight and need to heal. I go back in 3 weeks. And no it was not a confirmed case of dilation. But def. have reflux back. At least I can get more liquids in now

    Spicy Hot

I am 18 days post op and don't even miss the coffee. I am allowed 1 cup of reg and then decaf. But I don't even want it, definitely gaining more energy. I also had hernia repair, never thought about caffeine aggitating it. Also I caused myself some grief by pureeing chili and eating it, dr said it shouldn't have affected me this bad. But my reflux has come back possible dilation of esophagus. So I am back on liquids and think that I will personally stay clear of spices for a while... hee hee

    Learned My Lesson

I was doing great, 15 days post op. I am allowed mushies now so I took some chili and blended it too baby food consistency. Only ate about 2oz of it. Everything went well, felt good, went for a walk on the tread mill. But good lord about an hour after going to bed, I got sicker than a dog. Nauseous and had relfux feeling. For a snack I had 2 oz of v-8. I don't know if something got stuck or what happened, but it was so bad. I am going back to liquids to day. A popsicle for breakfast was too much and definitely feel swelling in throat. Don't see dr till next week, if it keeps up I will be calling the nurse. Not sure if it was the food choice that was bad or if it was the fact it was a little thicker than liquids. I guess I learn the hard way!
  8. I hope you are feeling alot better now. I too went through the same feelings (surg. 2/20/12). I had a hernia repair and it has made my recovery last a little longer, but walking and deep breathing has been so benefitial. I just have to keep reminding myself that I did this to be healthier

That and this site is great for reminding us that we are not alone and going through similar situations. So glad my friend recommended it

    Learned My Lesson

Talked to the nurse at the dr's office, she thinks it was reflux from the spices. And was glad to hear I went back to liquids. Now I just can't quit crying today. I was never this emotional. I just can't wait to go back and talk to the actual dr.

    Learned My Lesson

OMG... that is a typo!!! Ever since surgery I have only been able to get down 2oz at a time. Sometimes not even that! I don't have a real desire to even eat yet. I just couldn't believe the rawness in my throat this morning, it's weird. Fixed the typo... thanks for pointing that out!!
  13. Hi! I am new here, banded 7 days ago (2/20/12) and been reading through. But yet to stumble upon my question. Have any of you had a Hiatal Hernia fixed when you had your band put on. Where the band is and hernia fixed is bugging the living daylights out of me. It's sore and gets worse at night. But because I had both done at once, I had major swelling and gas pain. My doctor said my hernia was a lot worse than he originally thought and that's what had taken so long in surgery. Other than that site, I really don't have anymore pain. I guess I'm just paranoid, because I had such horrible pain from hernia, they told me that pain would go away after the band. Just curious if anyone else had this problem. I know it's still healing too
  14. I was just banded 2/20/12 and I had similar problems, seemed to have loosened up. My surgeon says to aim for 64 oz of liquids a day, I'm lucky to get 30 in. Not sure if this is just his rule or if it's normal. I just keep sipping away.
  15. Getting much better as the days go by, but can definitely tell when I over do it.
  16. Joyceann... It's kind of weird that after they fix the hernia and I realized what pain and area that came from makes me realize I had this hernia a lot longer that what they think. I've even gone to the emergency room years ago thinking it was from my chest or something. The pain is slowly going away and has become more of a soreness than anything. but I know that it's pain from hernia repair and not so much the band.
  17. I just got off the phone with my doctors office and they told me that it doesn't sound like anything from the band. But I sometimes get the Sweats and have skin burning. Almost as if my sugar was low? I check my sugar and it's normal, I am not a diabetic, but it runs in my family badly so I've always watched it. It's kind of weird the things that start happening to your body after this surgery and losing a few pounds. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Does Anyone Get The Sweats Or Have Skin Burning?

No other symptoms, thinking it may be related to hormones. It's getting better

The Progress We Are Making: Our Successes And Our Speed Bumps

Hi, I was banded Feb 20th. My surgery went well, they repaired a pretty decent size hernia before putting the band on. So I have some extra soreness where the band is. I also had a lot of swelling so it is a struggle for me to get in my liquids and get enough protein. It is slow going but otherwise all pain is gone At least because of that I don't have any desire to eat yet, I am sure it will come. I even took a 20 minute walk today. The biggest hurdle by far has been mental!! I was totally unaware of the fact that I would freak out. I don't know why but about day 4 I started to have panic attacks and crying. Asking myself why did I do this and why would I do this when I have two small kids at home! For the last 3 days I cry at least once a day. I am not sure what is causing me to have sweats and skin burning but at first I thought I was rejecting the band. I am not sure how to bring this up to my doctor at my follow up appt. But all I do is hug my kids and keep convincing myself that I did this for them and how I am going to make a success of this. Just praying this goes away soon!

Does Anyone Get The Sweats Or Have Skin Burning?

I have lost about 12 in 8 days. Not sure if it would be that or not, I only have one ovary. But anything is possible. At first I was a little paranoid it was rejection. But there are no lists of possible signs of rejection... at least I couldn't find them.
  22. Thanks all I have been walking and it does help.
  23. Yes, MrsRicco80 Cheers! To watching our children grow and being able to run after them
  24. I am so glad I found this post, I am 7 days post op. And going through the same things. I keep thinking, oh god what have i done and i wish i could go back in time. I was so excited before. And now I'm paranoid I'll fail or it'll fail. My kids are so young, what if I get sick and on on on... LOL I am trying everything to not think about it. Just glad to know I'm not alone. Going outside does help. That and I keep hugging my kids
