Apparently the quote from 5dogma didnt post up Null is my signature because people always dismiss reality for their candyland version. (null)

You said everything perfectly in paragraph 2. Read that again User error, age, genetics and health problems all play a big part in bumps in the road. So please dont come here and say that I downplayed the surgery itself. Now after 4 day out is where most problems occur. So its really in your hands from there. (null)

Check out my perspective. Take a look at the VSG on youtube. They show you pretty much step by step. Its so easy a caveman can do it. I know without a doubt that I can perform this surgery on someone. Next, $4500 bucks is a hell of cheaper than my USA quoted price of $12000 cash. Less money equals more patients, more patients equals more experience. If it would be a heart surgery or something really serious that would be a different story. But this is a really noninvasive surgery. They would really have to miss alot of staples or puncture the liver to do enough harm to kill you. The staple gun used shots 6 rows of micro staples at a time separating your stomach into 2 pouches. I could see a problem with stitches but this state of the art gun is the bees knees. It automatically offsets the centerline staples to make a mesh line of interweaving staples. I have totally gone through the steps of this surgery and I am confident that anyone with common sense can preform this surgery. I would feel alot better if I could do it to myself but thats another story. You should never fear death because gods on your side. (null)

Just Got My Bipap Machine Today
Capt Derel replied to Catracks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am getting wls because of the constant haggling from the USCG about my sleep apnea. Every year it costs me $2000 in tests because I am a captain. I had to buy an Auto25 vpap. I think its by resmed. My insurance wanted me to rent one for 5 months @500/month then pay the deductible . I told them to run that buy me again cause I thought I heard them say $500/month and then pay the deductible. I told that insurance man "you think I am %**++ing crazy" lol So I bought one cash and I tried to use it for over a year and I just cant do it then a godsend gave me a website to jerusalem hospital and that day was the beginning of my wls Quest to end this sleep apnea mess. On another note. I do perfect Maintennance Wakefullness tests which is odd because I have severe sleep apnea according to my doc. I hate my machine because I wake up more using it then without it. I also hate when the mask leaks in my eye (null) -
Allen I feel the same way you do. Simple math. 12 months @$500/month=$6000 bucks Sleeve in mexico=$4500 Sleeve in US=$12000 If my companies health insurance has been getting paid for the last 4 years and I rarely have anything go wrong why not pay for me to better my long term health. I guess corporate greed is better than helping the ones who pay for their ferraris and multi million dollar homes (null)

I'm In The Hospital
Capt Derel replied to peacequeen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have just confirmed exactly what I was reading from the pages of a medical newsletter on gastric sleeve. If there is a leak you have a better chance on finding it 8 days out to 6 months. Anything earlier its harder to find a leak because the stomach is still n. i just discussed this with my PCP. He agreed to let me do a barium test 10-14 days out just to double check before I go back to work. I like my doc. Hes more excited than me that I am getting sleeved. Good luck but just remember in the medical papers microleaks can occur up to 6 months (null) -
Ghrelin and memory / learning?
Capt Derel replied to Rootman's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ghrelin is sold to professional bodybuilders so they feel hungry, same goes for B12 in high dosages. So if your afraid of memory woes dont feel like you cant substitute synthetics for real. (null) -

The Clears.... The Clears!
Capt Derel replied to ATeam's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From what I gather from almost ALL the people with complications are due to them going to fast advancing with their diets. I did notice one guy that ate apple sauce which is acidic only 3 days post op. to no surprise an abscess formed. So now due to my research I am now a firm believer that full liquids as long as you can in order for your stomach to heal properly. Note it takes an average of 14 days for scar tissue to completely cover the staples. So logically you dont want to hinder the natural healing process with solids or semi solids. I am not a doctor but I have had plenty of cuts and scrapes to learn from lol (null) -

46lbs Down And They Didn't Notice?
Capt Derel replied to his2my2our4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Why do you need approval? You should just fixate yourself on yourself and focus on the foods you eat and learn how to manipulate your bodys genetics. Once you have your bodys nutritional needs and knows what each one does you will be able to get down to the 10% bf ranges. It might just be that I am a guy but I dont care what others think I just see the light at the end of the tunnel. (null) -

I am new here and I agree. I am aggressive by nature but I do have a censor or mute switch. LoL. This site has helped me gain insight and I hope it dont go down the crapper. I have been able to filter the hypochondriacs from the real case scenarios and I havegained knowledge from both. Thanks VS (null) -

How Do I Know If I Have A Leak In My Gastric Sleeve?
Capt Derel replied to Estella's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And just to get this right. This was done in a US hospital? Did you do a barium swallow xray test before you were discharged? All doctors claim they do a leak test while they can still see it laproscopically then a few days with the drain bulb then a blue dye test before the pull it out then finally a barium leak test. Did you have this done? (null) -

I Don't Know How To Eat For Pre Gastric Sleeve Surgery Diet
Capt Derel replied to peacequeen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is what email I received for my post op Please take a laxative (1 adult dosage, 1 time, 3 days before surgery). This will help with the surgical gas and constipation that comes with surgery. • You will need to be on a liquid ONLY diet. You may have broth (chicken, beef or vegetable), sugar-free Jell-O, sugar-free ice pops, sugar free juice, clear liquids (i.e. Crystal Lite, Diet Snapple, water), coffee or tea with a sugar substitute, and Protein powder mixed with Water. The key to the liquid diet is LOW sugar and LOW carbs. NO SOLIDS of any kind. Please also be sure to begin getting as much exercise as much as possible. Just walking 30 minutes a day 5 - 7 days a week is sufficient. This will aid in your recovery and lesson complication risks. This is the recommended pre-op diet for those with a BMI of 40 or below. • PLEASE NOTE: A higher BMI will require a longer liquid diet of up to 14 days prior to surgery. (null) -

Risks Of A Gastric Sleeve Leak!
Capt Derel replied to FionaB's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Leaks are 1% out of every hundred. Now whereas deaths the overall mortality (death) from vertical sleeve gastrectomy is 0.39 percent—which is lower than with traditional bariatric surgeries. So that means your almost just as likely to die as get a leak. Isnt that something to read. Lol (null) -
Day 5 Post Gastric Sleeve Surgery - Things Aren't Getting Any Better
Capt Derel replied to 5DogMa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This surgery was done in the states? Btw. sleep apnea machine would explain alot of irritation and gas. I refuse to wear mine now cause of gas and also cause I hate it. Personally if I did use mine I dont think that I would use it for atleast 3 months post op. your taking a chance on complications happening from stretching to making a small leak to a bacterial infection due to forced air.
