Samething as me today. I am constantly manipulating ratios week by week just to see what happens. Yesterday was a high stress day for me as I had to call a diver to get a huge rope out one of my propellers "wheels". I ate 932 calories though 86pro , 67 carbs, 36 fats. That was one of the best days eating wise as far as volume. Today I can already tell My stomachs sick so its gonna be not much today. Todays gonna be a Water and Protein shake day. It just our bodies adjusting to something.

My Sleeve Is Confusing Me
Capt Derel replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From what I have read that sounds like you need an antacid. That seems to be the common concensus. I havent ever taken one yet but I never has acid issues either. Maybe try one and see what happens. Btw once I thought that I was having hunger pains but it was gas -

How Much Does All The Extras Cost?
Capt Derel replied to crystalintville's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Surgery for me was $4500 Hotel suite Ticuan $300 Popcicles LoL $15 Tips $40 Airfare from Louisiana to San Diego $850 including baggage for 2 people San Diego hotel 1 night $120 All in all it was right at $6000 bucks for me. Half price compared to my local surgeon. I know that I made the correct choice. I was sleeved Feb 17,2012 and as of today I have lost 67 pounds total. But tomorrow morning I know its going to be 68 lol. -
Why Diet For Some But Not All?
Capt Derel replied to neeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Who would you trust to build your house. A carpenter with 40 years experience or a carpenter with 5 years experience? Its kind of like doctors. To be certified for any kind of gastric surgery a doctor has to do atleast 100 surgeries of the one he is being certified for. How long do you think that took? What I am getting at is who would you rather believe, a doc who has performed 300 surgeries Or one that has over 1500 under his belt? If the one with 1500 says do a 14 day diet you better damn sure do it. Just cause a doctor is a doctor doesnt make him special. Experience is key in determining your outcome. Or you could take a chance on being the one who has complications. Just some good old fashion logic. No harm meant. Good luck on your choice -
POPCICLES And SF SNOWCONES ROCK!!!

Yes they gave me anti nausea and pain meds. Plus they crushed up a lysinopryl to lower my bp cause it was 176/98. They gave me pain meds 4 times in a 12 hour period. I would say morphina and they would say si. They would hit me in the iv and I would pass out for 3 hours then back up in pain and repeat. But after that day all I took was cipro "nasty". Still to this day no meds. Just started taking B12 and multi last week and nothing else. But I do take my 3 month Bloodwork in 2 weeks and I will add from there

Hi I have had the VST surgery Feb17th and today is my 10 week postop. I started off at 329lbs and as of today I am at 263lbs. But here is what I have noticed. Post op before I went back to work I was losing a pound a day average and sometimes 2. The first day I went back to work everything stopped moving for about 10 days. Why? I thought about this and here is what I came up with. Stress, Water retention, change of environment, and sleep patterns are different. At work is a more controlled environment with high levels of stress. So I started watching for patterns. My diets the same everyday 60-90g Protein, 25-60g carbs, >25g fats. This is clockwork so this isnt the problem. After 10 days the weight started coming off again but now its at a pound every 2-3 days and it stayed this way until I went home. Upon arrival at my home I weighed myself and marked it. Then for 7 straight days there was no loss at all. Then all of a sudden 3 lbs fell off after a nights sleep. I continued to lose a pound every day or two. Before I left to come back to work I noted my weight again. This time it was 269.2. Ok once I get back on my vessel the next morning I lost 2pounds. From that point on there was nothing for another 10 days. After the 10 days I suspect my body adjusts to the changing environment and I lose the water retention, stress calms down and my sleep pattern adjusts to the 12 hour pattern. 12 hours on a boat is actually 8 hours on and off. But to conclude since the 10th day I have lost .5/day bringing me to 263 as of today. So inretrospect I can assume that stress interrupts fat loss.

I agree but I am specifically talking about the change in environment causing plateaus. If it would be happening at any other time I could dismiss my theory. I will keep my journal and record for the next 6 months.

A Nutritionist went to college for years why dont they try and get you to understand that calories are just not calories. Research always helps. I just cant believe Nuts just want a paycheck instead of actually trying to help a person learn. I attached a better understanding for some of you. This may help you out alot.

Lissa I am just now experimenting with protein bars. They are excellent in my case because even though I have access to a kitchen 24/7 within 100' of me at all times I am just not able to let my hands drive the boat while I go cook something. And with bars I can take my time to eat them also I can keep them in the wheelhouse for availability. Never seen premire yet but I will look em up

I had a big old reply to bougie size and stomach sizes but my wife called and I got erased so I will shorten it down. Follow this Every persons stomachs a different size. Not only horizontally but vertically as well. Horizontally once you get sleeved we are all the same size "well within Millimeters". But its the vertical part that determines our initial capacity. Some people may hold 6 ounces some maybe 3. But thats why they developed the plication to correct those larger stomachs by making them into smaller ones. Now can you see where I am coming from with eating capacities vary from person to person. I watched alot of videos and how capacities are determined. Gotta love youtube
-
Well i heard of plenty of people cheating up to the day before. What happens is they get a tube up their nose and have to stay an extra day in the hospital. Well thats what happened to one woman I know
-
From what I understand is that everyones stomach is a different size to begin with and thats the determining factor on the quantity your able to hold. I must have had a small stomach cause I can eat half of an Atkins oatmeal bar and be done for the day. In fact thats all I ate so far today besides a protein shake. I feel bad that I cant eat more cause I feel its hindering my progress.

4 Weeks Of Pre Op For Me Baby... Heeeeeeeeeeeeelllllppppp
Capt Derel replied to kb7274's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Hey KB look what I am about to tell you is going to be the hardest thing for you. If you keep your carbs real low "I used promasil from GNC - 0 carbs" drink 6 shakes per day and maybe some egg drop soup if you have to -chicken broth or hot n spicy would be better choices btw- by the time 10 days rolls around you will absolutely be NOT hungry. My last 4 days Preop I wasnt hungry at all. Totally amazed me. I was fortunate to have a training captain work with me for my preop period just in case I fell out. But I never had any problems. Now post op is another story. Thats where u should be worrying. At 3 weeks post op I was puking on alot of stuff. Getting dizzy when I stood up from sitting. So please schedule some time off post op. Many times I was offloading and having to run to the side the vessel to throw up. Imaging having to hit the side the road really fast. So its in everyones best interest for anyone operating heavy machinery to take atleast a month off. Goodluck and stick to it -

Really, you have nothing to worry about. I drive a 165' crewboat in Port Fourchon of all places. I dont know if you ever delivered to a oilfield dock before but my vessel hold 5 18wheeler loads and my destination is 5h49m away from the sea bouy. I thought the samething as you did about the energy to keep up mental alertness. But as far as physical demands lol hardest thing we do is press on the gas and turn a wheel. Just wait till the DOTD starts jumping on yall for yall weight and sleep apnea like the coast guard did to me. Its coming because I already heard its in the works. Its a good thing your getting a headstart before they start pulling yall licenses like they are doing ours. -

Beth u still have that pic up. Lmfao -
Well from a sleeved perspective. Enjoy that last bottle. Hell drink one for me. After u get sleeved your worlds gonna change in an instant. I can tell you from this side of the fence I have no cravings for anything. I did however enjoy my last days leading up to my 2week preop diet. Then I starved for 12 days then DDay hit and now food sux. I dunno. I just dont like food anymore. I must have a pshycological issue like "Fat guy anorexia" or something. It might be a new classification. Just dont beat yourself up about it is all I am trying to say
