  1. Some of those docs do have their shills on here saying how wonderful they are because they know many on this forum are looking for a surgeon and they want more business, but I'd say 99.999% of posts on here are absolutely genuine, whether Mexico or U.S. patients.
  2. I don't think you're being naive at all. Looks like you're looking the demon square in the face. Some of us have been raised with food being woven into the very fabric of our lives. (outside of eating to live). If you can identify these situations and attitudes ahead of time, all the better. I think the permanence of this surgery will help us see these situations with new eyes: "Is diving into the comfort of this bag of Cookies worth ruining my new stomach?" "Is a 'requisite' box of candy while watching a movie worth wiping out all my hard work?" I think...I hope...our answers will be a resounding HELL NO!!! There will be far too much at stake. It's easy to indulge right now, because I'm at my highest weight. I get the "what have a got to lose" attitude. Well, pretty soon...there will be a LOT to lose. (hehe..no, It wasn't a pun.) Post Op people.....Am I close to the mark here?
  3. WOOOOOOOWWWWW!!!!!!!! Maybe I WILL be able to lose all 200 of my pounds!!!! Oh wow, oh wow, oh wow!!!!! Oh, I'm getting more excited by the day!!!!! (SQUEAL!!!!)
  4. My Bari Essentials came in the mail yesterday. It just became a little more real... :o

  5. That's wonderful news, J!! I've heard from many on here that the first month can be "fraught with peril." Then suddenly it gets better. Yay for you!!
  6. My surgery is not until 2/13 (Lord willing), but I also have 200 to lose. I find most on here are what I call lightweights so I'm always looking for someone of similar build to track. See what my chances are of getting as thin as I desire. And how post op goes for them. I've been following you around already, Circa

    Bulking Up

I always enjoy your replies Kemo! FYI.
  8. The major concern came from her description of her heart health and the other issue, that I just can't quite remember clearly. But it lead me to think that if she were to get surgery, she'd need close, careful attention from a cardiologist. She was concerned that her surgeon may not be a doctor. That freaked me out a little.
  9. Ok folks- I'm looking for someone here. RIGHT before this site took a dump the other day, I and another lady were trying to encourage a woman to NOT go through with her surgery date of January 20th, as it looked very dangerous. Now the post was lost and I don't remember her screen name. Here's the deal: She was previously banded, and had it removed in November and her weight has gone from 128 to 146, or 148...something like that. It was maybe 18 lbs. So, she's freaking out that she will get heart disease and die, and she has some fairly serious heart conditions. She also attends weight watchers. So, she made an appointment to get sleeved at this weight, with her heart conditions down in Mexico with a surgeon about whom she had to ask "is this guy really a doctor?" (he went by 2 different names) There was another condition as well...stroke risk? I don't remember exactly. SO.....If you have had interactions with her today, or if this sounds like a familiar conversation, and you remember her screen name PLEASE speak up!! I would hate for her to go through with this and something awful happen. I'd like another chance to speak to her. Our replies were lost before she could see them.
  10. Ya. I guess that's all we can do now. Pray. I was hoping she was still lurking around here.

  15. Congrats on being overweight!!! hahaha!! I can't WAIT to be overweight!!
  16. I'm traveling from NM to TX for my surgery, so my doc said he'll use dissolving sutures. DUH! When they know people are going a long way for surgery, why wouldn't they just routinely do this? For those of us not done yet- ask for dissolving sutures. I had no idea a local doc would not take them out. That's just crazy. Lawsuits drive the world these days. Very sad.
  17. "Ya, the waiting is the hardest part."

  19. EXACTLY!!!! The people on this forum are the ONLY non medical people in this world I've given this info to! (and I tell my husband EVERYthing. except that.) And freely at that! It's an amazing feeling to put that out there and have it be received so differently.
