    Do You Gain During Af?

I've always gained at least 6 pounds. I don't see why that would change after surgery. The hormonal fluctuations that cause all of that should still be in tact.
  2. Cool! Sorry to hijack your question Trells, but I hope it helped you too. It seemed like the right time to throw that in there.
  3. Here's a question I've been tossing around...In all my various dieting days, i used to make "green smoothies" to be sure to get lots of Vitamins and Calcium and such...I would put dark leafy greens and maybe a little carrot or other veg in the blender with a bit of fresh juice and some apple or pear to sweeten it a bit. It's a very quick way to eat a lot of fresh vegetable if you have trouble getting in enough vegetables. (I'm talking a pre-surgery stomach). So, here's my question- after surgery, when the time comes to introduce fibrous veggies, do you think this would be a good way to break them in? Start out with them mostly liquified, then blend it less and less and see how it's received?

    Severe Shoulder Pain

Absolutely, doggz is right. If you're at all uneasy about this pain, go to the e.r.! Take it from Me me mee (she's been through that wringer). Better to check and wish you hadn't than to not check and wish you had.
  5. Storing info for future use. THANKS! Someone tell jasleeve and pdxman, HURRY!!

    Blew Into Onederland!

WOW!!!!! 6'2"???? And you're down to 199? You must be one HOT MAMA!!! You go!!
  10. That you had to even ask that question makes me sad. That is the one place where you should feel safe and trust those around you. Well....I guess sanctification is not instant. It's a process. I'm with the others. Just pay the normal price, and the extra money may go to help someone else go that can't afford it maybe?
  11. THANK YOU Jhwkgrl and VSGready! Good info, good info. Not too much at all. Love it. Thanks!
  12. My husband gets Syntha 6 online, and I've tried it (looking ahead) and it's a good quality protein that is VERY tasty. I put it in a mini blender with skim milk. He says it's good with water though.

    Holy Heartburn!

Be glad you got the hernia fixed! I have one, and it's nothing but trouble. I'm getting over an upper respiratory virus, and I've been coughing my brains out. Guess what that does to the hernia? Nothing good, i tell ya. I can't wait for that part. Oh JOY! to have that fixed. These people are right take the reflux meds. Prilosec does it for me. (I'm still pre-op, but have a pretty bad reflux to begin with.) If one medication does not work, try another. I've tried many before I found the one that worked for me. Some will make you run to the bathroom, and some won't. Take SOMEthing though.
  14. Hey Circa, I just live right down the road a piece in Albuquerque. Maybe one day when we've come along a ways, we can meet up!

    Jeans

Who knows?? I've been wearing the same 4 pairs of fat, mom jeans for the last several years. I don't even know what's out there anymore. It'll be fun finding out though!!!!
  16. This is like waiting for a really awesome vacation to hurry up and get here. I think "will I REALLY get to go on this great trip? REALLY?" Now I'm thinking, "Do I REALLY get to be skinny again?? REEEEAAALLLYY??"

    Pre-op Diet Nightmare!

I can't say there's any trick that will help, sweetie. The cold, hard fact is that it may be a pain you have to endure. You are quite young, so hopefully you've not had to endure many pains, but this is one that you will have to come to terms with, because post-op will not be a picnic. Clear Liquids, full liquids, mushy stuff, soft food, then finally 'real' food. When you think there is a choice in the matter, it is almost harder to do than when you KNOW there is no other way. Once the surgery is done. You have no choice. You must comply. I know you will be able to muster the strength to make it through. When I get really hungry and something sounds good, I get almost manic about it, so I know exactly how you're feeling right now. 2 years ago, i had a mysterious stomach pain any time i had anything other than CLEAR liquids. SEVERE pain came with anything more. That went on for three of the most miserable months of my life. I actually cried when i saw food commercials. Weeping, sobbing. I think that actually prepared me for this surgery. I look at the two week all liquid diet that i will go on as a piece of cake, because I know now what I am capable of. Take this opportunity to see what YOU are capable of. You will look back at in amazement at what you did! It's a pretty good feeling. It prepares you for the hard things in life. Things you once thought impossible, you can say, "aww, that's not so bad!" It's like....spiritual sandpaper. Grinding off the rough spots. Keeping busy IS good advice. I wish you the best, and peace in the process.
  18. Cool! Ya, I see people getting down to 120 and 140 (which is where i'd LIKE to get, but just don't know if that's reality at my starting weight. (340. SSSHHHHH...it's a secret!) I always said i'd be happy the rest of my life if I even got down to 180, but now that it may actually happen.....I'm getting greedy! I want MORE!!! (There is a February 2012 thread. I actually started one, because the other February thread was for 2011 surgeries.)

    My Story

Patience dear, patience. Your body is still trying to figure out what happened to it. Just keep following the plan and sit back and enjoy the ride. And stop weighing yourself.
  20. The 5 or 6 people closest to me and that's it. I don't need people lining up to tell me to burn more calories than I eat and to exercise. I may punch someone. I'm a God-fearin' woman, so I don't want to be tempted to open a can on anyone. lol
  21. OH, I can't wait to pick at my food and daintily announce how FULL I am!!! LOL It puts me to mind of Hattie in Gone With The Wind talking to Scarlett at the beginning of the movie, after trying to stuff Scarlett with some real food: "You can always tell a lady by the way she eats like a bird. I ain't aimin' for you to go over to Mr. Wilkes's and eat like a field hand and gobble like a hog!" Hahahahaha!! I love that. It's hilarious. It'll make me laugh when I get to the "eating like a bird" stage. Can't wait.
  22. OH jhwkgrl!! Thank you!! That's info I've been looking for as well!! It sounds wonderful! (Dr. Kim- 2/13/12) Did you get a drain? Does he give everyone a drain? Do they allow anyone to stay over with you in the room? Do they do the leak test fairly quickly after surgery? Do they charge for the t.v.? (i hear some do now) Is there wifi? BlueBonnet- THanks for asking!
  23. There is a lady on this forum that goes by MegInNOLA. Might want to look her up too. She's quite a success story.
  24. I've never figured out how to make them come to my email! I thought I checked the box or whatever, but still no emails. :/
