WOW!!! Even that 54 is minuscule for a stomach!!! Can't pack much into that puppy! Even more so for a 34.

You're doc Kim too BlueBonnet? I'll be there on 2/13! -
Coops, according to your ticker, you've only 13 lbs to go! I've heard that it's slower and more difficult the closer you get to goal. Just a thought.

RIGHT???? NOW PUT YOUR BIG GIRL PANTIES ON AND GET TO IT WOMAN!! Hahaha (I say that in love!-and humor) -
My surgeon will do the same with the endoscope. He says it's comparable to a 34fr. bougie. I don't think a 36 is any problem at all.

Some of us are obsessed with numbers and need consistent sizing, darn it! HAHA I need to know exactly how big I am!! (or small;)

Bmi Over 60 I Am 4'11 Questions
Dooter replied to newgrandmother11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OH THAT'S RIGHT!!! I totally forgot reading that VSG used to be the 1st step toward RNY! (Still is in some cases with higher BMI I guess.) Well, there's your answer. -
Good advice N2B8R! I know I will encounter the same issues. I have somehow developed this...persona of sorts...at church. Someone at church picked up my old nickname from my youth (dooter) and everyone started calling me that. SO....since I'm fat and happy and "give good hugs" and always listen to people who come to me to vent their problems (I'm a "good listener" they say)...I've become what feels somewhat like a cartoon character. I don't mind that they think I have good qualities. But when I become thin, will I somehow become threatening? I don't want people to change how they look at me because I shrink in size. I'd like to think they will be happy and supportive for "dooter." Who knows- maybe they will start to call me Danielle!

Do they have a nurse line or an on call doc you can call for a quick answer? That's the worst feeling trying to sleep through. :s

Scheduled....but Lingering Question Is 'am I Messing With God's Work'.
Dooter replied to vsgm's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ok...since you have opened the door for this type of communication, I am going for it. Look at it this way: Adam and Eve were created as perfect humans in a perfect world. They would have lived forever, but for their disobedience. Once they disobeyed God and plunged the creation in to sin and death, we all became subject to decay. Our bodies start dying the minute we are born. God gave us medicine and doctors and he gave those doctors big brains so they would learn more and more about keeping us healthy and living as long as possible. I believe we are using this surgery to be good stewards of the bodies God gave us. I want to prevent an obesity-related death, so I am getting this done now. As for God turning His favor away from you for changing something in your body? No sweetie. He turns His favor away from those who reject the One He sent to save us. Once you belong to Him, He will never leave you nor forsake you. I hope that helps. -

I've seen a couple of guys on here that started over 500 lbs.... like Diva says, there may be health issues to consider, but everything I've read says results are comparable to RNY. God speed on your decision! -

Would You Make An Alcoholic Stop Drinking Before Rehab? Anger!
Dooter replied to seansmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oye!! You'd think they'd get it, of all people! (HUFF!) (It's not the demand for pre-op weight loss I "huff" over...it's the being treated like a moron part. I HATE when doctors talk down to me like I just had a lobotomy or something. Doctors sometimes forget they are talking to people, not just "patients.") -
Question For You Experts
Dooter replied to crazycatlady8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The PCOS definitely puts a different twist on the situation. If the ovaries aren't functioning properly, then the hormones are wacked, and weight loss very very difficult. Even if insulin issues are resolved, ovaries can still be catching up. Definitely worth a look. -
Question For You Experts
Dooter replied to crazycatlady8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That would definitely be a question for your doc. Did your OB/GYN put you on the metformin? I'd ask him/her. It's possible you may still need it, but better check first. It'd be a drag to take that stuff for no reason at all. -
We're here, and we're listening!!

I was told that dumping syndrome is unique to the RNY surgery as a result of the fact that there is no pylorus controlling the flow of food to the small intestine, usually brought on by simple sugars and sometimes dairy or certain fats. A similar effect can happen after gallbladder surgery. Since a person with a sleeve still has all the functioning parts and pieces in place, we shouldn't technically experience dumping. That's just what I was told. I'm not saying to put money on it. :wink1: You might've just pushed your new friend a little too hard.
