  1. Well, the long and short of it is....I don't like a lot of attention. I attend a church of about 250-300 people and we are all very tight, and whether the attention is negative or positive, I just don't like being in the spotlight. There are people with bigger problems, and I just would rather the focus be on them. It's been kinda tough explaining why I'm on an almost 2 week trip to Dallas with my mom and boys and not my husband (who had to work), but it will blow over about 10 minutes after I get back. My family...the ones whom I've told..have been supportive, which is good.
  2. That's just what I was gonna say!!! And there's your perspective!
  3. I use Dooter, because that is what a neighbor/friend of my mom used to call me in high school. She always added names to the end of a real name. My mom was "Barber Darber" and I was "Dani Dooter." (She was nutty!) Then she just started calling me Dooter. So, later when I got a computer and email and such..97?...I started using Dooter because it was ALWAYS available. (not so much anymore!) Then someone at church got a hold of this information a couple years ago, now they all call me Dooter. Now it's my "go to." So.......there ya have it.
  4. 2/13 here. I also have the spasm/clench/roll thing! It's decreasing in frequency. I've almost positively i.d.'d it as air. When I burp after it happens...it stops. When I don't, it goes on for a few more seconds. I'm also getting a wicked stabbing pain from the hernia repair. The pain transfers to my back a little too. I called the surgeon's office yesterday just to hear them say the pain is from the hernia repair. If I know what it is, I can handle it. Other than that....I'm doing great! I'm still on clears until Tuesday, so no trouble getting anything down. I stayed 2 nights, but that was mostly because I PAID for 2 nights, and it was a FABULOUS facility. I didn't want to leave! The care was outstanding. Looking forward to healing and losing and getting back to eating good things!
  5. STEP AWAAAAAAY FROM THE SCALE!!!! I REPEAT: STEP A W A A A A A A A Y Y Y FROM THE SCALE! Give your body a month to level out before you start obsessing. Don't get caught in that trap. Stick to the plan like you are and your body will do what it's supposed to do. Widen your scope. It will happen....It WIIILLLLLL happen!! ok? Just breathe......

    Please Explain To Me...

I was told that it is possible that I might not to tolerate plain water after surgery, but assured that it goes away in a month or two if it does happen. Doesn't always though. So far, almost a week out, I'm ok with it. This experience is sooooooooo different for each and every person who goes through it. You just never know. (There are certain consistencies, but there are many, many variables.)

  9. Thanks Helen! It's getting better every day!!
  10. I'm still on clears until Tuesday morning. :/ Then I get to add the cream Soup and Protein shakes. I'm a little nervous about it!
  11. It's awesome! I'm glad to have people who understand my place in life right now.
  12. This is SUCH a personal, and serious decision. Don't take it lightly and don't decide rashly. I agree with all comments above and could have written many of them myself. I'm 42 and struggling with weight since I was put on my first diet at 8 years old when the yoyo began. I agree that you should read ALLLL you can on this subject. Scour this website with a fine toothed comb, and look up anything you can regarding negativity about the surgery. That's what I did. I wanted to see what the worse thing is I could come up with. (It's not much, either.) Just really familiarize yourself with the procedure and the lifestyle you will have to live afterwards. Eyes wide open baby!
  13. Day 4- MUCH better than yesterday. Much.

    One Extreme To Another

have they advised taking in more sodium? I'd ask first, but sometimes that will help.
  15. My instructions from the surgeon say to avoid pregnancy for 18 months. He says that during the first 12 months, it can be very dangerous for you and the baby and may result in birth defects. I know this is not good news for you, but don't risk your life or that of your unborn children. It would be far more devastating to your grandmother if something were to happen to you or your baby.
  16. Yes, the most helpful suggestion is to STOP weighing!! My surgery was Monday and I can feel my body hanging on to every drop I'm drinking. None of it is real right now. Just breathe. Relax. And S T E P AWAYYYYYY F R O M THE S C A L E!!! Your body will let go when it's ready. You're doing fine!

    Walmart Veggies-Grossest Thing/warning

    Ohhhh....think I'm gonna yarg.....shouldn't a' read that...
  21. Ya, you could go in with a gunshot wound and they'd tell you to lose weight and exercise. Go to a chiropractor. I had the same knot, and it would SPASM all the time. It was bad. It was coming from my neck which was horribly out of alignment. Mine is 100% better now. My chiro never said ONE word about my weight. He knows I know I'm overweight and what that means. My two cents...
  22. Thanks! SO glad to be here!
