    My Story

Well, aside from the fact that I'm terrible with kg. to lbs. conversions, that sounds awesome! Good job! Just make sure it's DARK chocolate. (less sugar)
  3. You only have 15% of your original stomach (approximately). It can't NOT happen if you're being a good girl!! Just be patient. Avoid sliders, drink your water, do your exercising ...it WILL happen!!
  4. That is great, great news!!! I bet you're so happy!
  5. Answering the post op question: NO! I would never do any more than the sleeve. (Unless medically necessary.)
  6. Ok, every time I've seen someone ask about "dumping syndrome" (which is technically referring to something RNY patients experience) I just repeat what I've been told- that sleeve patients aren't supposed to have that. WELL!! I'm here to tell you, we can experience something VERY similar!! So, tonight I'm having dinner with my husband, as we're at a resort in San Antonio for some board meeting having to do with his work. We're at this ultra fancy restaurant where they're treating us like royalty, and I'm 2 1/2 weeks out of surgery, so I'm still on liquids and cream Soup. So I discreetly ask the head waiter lady to work with me on this. She totally hooked me up with this delicious "browned butter corn chowder" TOTALLY pureed. IT WAS TOOOOO RICH!!! (gee, maybe "browned butter" could have clued me in???) And I had too many bites. I thought I was waiting between bites long enough. NAH AH!!! In not too long of a time, I started feeling sick. I had to get up and walk around, so I went to the bathroom because I thought I was going to throw up. I was white as a ghost, and my arms and legs started getting weak and shaky. It was awful. Was I going to throw up, or pass out??? I just knew it would be one or the other. I finally used the toilet, which helped some, (that stuff shot RIGHT through!!) So I went back to the table and just waited for it to pass. As I sit here a couple hours later, I've been to the bathroom a couple times (it's STILL shooting through!) and don't feel quite right yet, but it's getting better. So, anyway, if this experience can help anyone in any way, I'd be glad. BE CAREFUL when you are eating with a new sleeve. I'm still getting used to this. There is a learning curve to be sure! --danielle
  7. Thank you Wheetsin and Rootman for both of the technical input responses. I posted this in hopes of helping someone avoid this from happening and give more info to those looking into the surgery. Don't let it scare you off if you ARE looking. It's a small price to pay to get healthy! Just be mindful of what and how you're eating.

    Nsv Trifecta Today!

Non scale Victory. Those moments in life that are easier and more fun because you're smaller! Like...putting on your socks without feeling like you've been through a hot yoga session.
  9. Ya...some Clear Liquids tomorrow sound REALLY good!

    Stupid Question...

a little line that shows how much weight you've lost, how long since surgery, there are pregnancy tickers...all kinds...

    Fever

Is the fever over 100.5? I had a low grade fever for about 6 days on and off following my surgery. I called the office once and they said it was fine if it's under 100.5. But I agree, if you're concerned, please get checked out.

    Coffee?

They want you to detox from coffee before surgery, because the last thing you need while trying to deal with post op issues is caffeine withdrawal. Make SURE you do that. Takes three or four days to get past the symptoms. Afterwards, my doc said I can have 1 cup of regular coffee a day maybe a couple weeks after surgery. They gave me decaf in the hospital. but what's decaf?!?! Bleh. Useless! The coffee thing was the first question I sent to the surgeons office! LOL
  14. I do hope justice is served for you. I can't imagine how incredibly frustrating and anger inducing this must be for you. I pray it does not eat you alive and that you can have peace over it very soon whether they are brought to accountability or not. (which I hope they are!) For anyone reading this in Texas or nearby looking for surgery and scared about making a decision because these things DO happen, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIIIIIGHLY recommend Forest Park Medical Center in Dallas. I couldn't SNEEZE without at least 3 nurses or techs knowing about it. I was at the far end of the hallway too! I had so many people in and out of my room at ALL hours, I could hardly get a nap. Just a little encouragement for those looking and feeling nervous.

  16. Good job!! Patience is the key!
  17. It might be good to inform us of the Dr. and facility in case anyone on here is researching this particular doc, they would need to know this kind of thing. (?)

    Stupid Question...

just click on your ticker, and it will take you to the website where you will input your pin and press 'enter' and you can change you information, then press the "next" button and it will save it to you ticker on here.
  20. Number 11 resonates with me. I 'knew' this but didn't have a basis for WHY. It just seemed right. You've articulated what I've thought to be true. Number 10 too for that matter. Very interesting. Thanks.

    For Those Who Love Soda...

Not gonna do it. There IS a chance it CAN stretch the sleeve over a long period of time. Why would I go through all of this just to dabble in things that got me where I am today? New life new habits. Leave the wretched things behind you. Move on to new things that satisfy. My two cents.

    Secret

I only told 5 people beforehand, and now people are on a "need to know" basis. We eat a LOT with other people at our church. If I'm going to someone's house for a meal, I have to bring my cream soups or blenderized foods, so I do fill them in. For the most part though, I'm not broadcasting.
