Anyone Have A Hernia Repaired? Still Hitting The Pain Meds After 9 Days
Dooter replied to Dooter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, and just as an update to my original post- The pain from the hernia stopped at exactly 2 weeks. I have one or two doses of the pain meds left. I'm saving it for when I twist my ankle hiking with my family this summer, because I'll be so much more active!! -
Anyone Have A Hernia Repaired? Still Hitting The Pain Meds After 9 Days
Dooter replied to Dooter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, the inguinal hernia isn't even in the same neighborhood, so I can't see why they'd refuse to do the VSG because of it. Now...if it's a hiatal hernia, like I had, it's right there where they are doing surgery, so most surgeons will automatically fix it while they are in there. I was worried about that disqualifying me too, until I talked to the nurse on the phone and she told me he'd fix it. Since inguinal hernias are also repaired laparoscopically, maybe you can get a two-for? I don't know. All you can do is ask, but I doubt it would prevent you from getting the sleeve. -

Am I An Idiot For Buying Clothes I Cannot Fit Into Yet?

My gall bladder scars are almost invisible now, and they were very similar to these new ones. Crazy for buying smaller clothes? naaaaaahhhhhh just waiting for the reality to catch up because you know it will!! You got this!!! -
Where the #%$$# are you hiding 258 in that picture?!?!?!? I want whomever took that picture to follow ME around taking pictures!! LOL

Depends on your surgeon, his schedule, your insurance...many factors. I was self pay, so they pretty much said..."when do you want to schedule it for??" I traveled to Dallas, saw the surgeon and had surgery 3 days later. Every doc operates differently. If your BMI is lower, you probably won't have to do a 2 week diet. (mine was 55, so I did have to) Some only require 3 days or 1 week. You'll have to see what he says.

New Mexico is a funny place. Yesterday morning we woke up to snow, then in the afternoon it was 61 degrees. I've also seen it snow while the sun is shining. Crazy.

I don't regret it for a minute. Or even a second. That said.... There are a couple of posts on this site where people have regretted it temporarily, and maybe even one or two who still do. I only mention those because you need to see EVERY aspect of the surgery and go into it fully informed of the fact that there is a teensy percentage of a chance that you could get a leak and things can go unexpectedly. The national average is 1%. My doctors average is .01% (which is EXcellent). It was a risk I was totally willing to take. Having health issues from being 200 lbs. overweight was a much bigger risk. Hope this helps.

I'm all about the comfy clothes too. The nice thing about living is Albuquerque, New Mexico... It's a pretty big city, but around here- "dressing up" means wearing your "good" jeans. Yep, I'll be hitting up the thrift stores too. I hope you found something to wear. Borrow clothes from your skinny friends .

There Are No Stupid Questions... Except This One
Dooter replied to crossedpaws's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 4 weeks out. Still waiting. In fact I had a dream last night that I was sleeping on my stomach and it hurt. Not helpful, but now I'll see the answers too! -
I seem to remember something about that from loooong ago....... yes..... back when I could find my bones... I will look forward to this!

I was gonna ask if he did an endoscopy. When I had symptoms JUST like you're describing (this was 2 years ago, long before I ever considered VSG) the first thing they did was an endoscopy. I went through the WHOLE G.I. testing series and they found NADA!! Well, the only thing he saw was a hiatal hernia and he insisted that it was not the cause of my pain, although i later decided that maybe it was because of the location, but that's another story... The one thing that helped me was this candida diet: www.yeastinfectionadvisor.com As soon as I started eating this way, the pain stopped. And it solved a few other digestive disorders I had. Just a suggestion. If it doesn't help, it certainly doesn't hurt. It's a very good, clean diet, and you don't have to do it forever. I did it for maybe 5 months.

I was told that if all went well, I'd be cleared for full physical activity at 6 weeks. I have a pretty conservative doc too, when it comes to healing schedule. I'm 4 weeks tomorrow, so looking forward to getting back to the workout.

That makes me sad. I pray his heart changes before you marry him.

I was a bit manic myself yesterday. My stomach just kept growling and growling. Woke up today and it was gone. Whew. We'll be eating normally soon. I had a really rich bisque a week ago and it made me nauseous as well. Too fatty.

Patience dear Frodo, patience.... all in due time...

I hope you are able to speak to him freely. Ask him if he REALLY loves you. If he does...then he needs to love you NOW. Not "when you get skinny." I'm married to a skinny guy too. They don't understand what we go through, but as a husband, it's their jobs to love us and live with us in an understanding way. If he can't love and accept you the way you are right now for the rest of your married life (assuming you never lost one pound...) then HE needs to change his heart and attitude. If you get skinny, that shouldn't be the basis for his love for you. Please tell him not to humiliate you any further and to just love you. Sorry...I get passionate about this subject! Marriage is sacred. BTW, you have pretty hair!
