All Food Still Looks Good.
Dooter replied to 1Bumblebee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was 2/13. I was on full liquids after week one Clear Liquids was over. Then I could add Protein shakes and cream soups to my clears. SF Jello did not ever make me full. I mostly got tired of eating it, and my mouth didn't want the last couple bites, but my stomach never felt full from it. Not until I got ahold of the Soup. Then I felt some sensation different than gnawing hunger. -
Don't forget kids, the dark meat on chicken and turkey may be higher in fat, but it IS Omega 3's which we need for the brain! Fat that's worth it!

Forbidden Medications Post-Sleeve
Dooter replied to ShouldBlittler's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When you get old, the docs will give you much better drugs that your stomach can tolerate. My surgeon also said no no no nsaids, aspirin or steroids. I think my book says that if it's absolutely necessary on a RARE occasion, it won't kill you or anything. (in so many words...) -

WOOOO!!! GO STACEY!! GO STACEY!!!!!!

That shoulder pain is from the internal gas they pump in you during the surgery so they can operate easier. They try to get it all out, but they don't get every bit. It's not directly IN the stomach so, the only thing you can do is walk and walk and that helps it reabsorb into your body. It just takes a few days to go away sometimes. I think what you're having is the 'normal' shoulder pain. (There IS a shoulder pain indicative of a leak, but I seriously don't think this is it. I thought the same thing the first week. )

That is AWESOME!!! Great news about the resolving health issues!!!

Yup. Sounds like it. The first week I was actually taking bigger sips than I thought I should be able to. I hear that from a lot of people.

It comes back rather quickly. I can take pretty normal drinks at 4 weeks out. Now...if I take a huge mouthful of something, that has been known to be quite uncomfortable going down, but a "normal drink" goes down fine.

I'm very susceptible to nausea as well. I even get motion sick when I'M driving sometimes!! I only experienced nausea in the hospital for the first two days. And really not very much after the leak test, and I finally got to drink something. One thing that may have helped is that I was on ONLY Clear liquids for the entire first week. I believe this helps reduce the nausea too. In the hospital when I was feeling like that, they just gave me some nausea meds in my i.v. and that fixed it right up. Don't psych yourself into it. Just wait and see how you feel.

I am one month out as well, so i am trying to walk as much as possible, but not quite every day yet. Just need to get into the habit. I will not be cleared for full workouts for another two weeks. At this point he said no lifting over 25 pounds. Be careful! You're still healing.

One Month Out Weight And Inches Lost- Just Wanted To Share
Dooter replied to Dooter's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Well, I'm not walking daily yet, but trying to get in the habit. I try to do a mile on the treadmill when i'm at the gym. And as far as diet, i'm just following the progression my surgeon recommended. I'm on blender foods right now, and I usually get in about 600 calories, and as much Protein as I can but still only get about 40 grams on a good day. That's about it. -

All Food Still Looks Good.
Dooter replied to 1Bumblebee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your stomach is empty. It will growl until you get to where you can have cream soups or blender foods. Once you get to where you can have more than protein shakes...you KNOW when you're full. If you overeat, it feels awful. It's happened to me 3 times, and it's because I did not wait long enough between bites, then it was too late. I just walk around until it passes. Takes a while though. Feels like you want to throw up, but not really. This sounds weird, but it makes my eyes hurt. I think it's normal to see food and think you want it, but once you start eating... the simplest things are delicious!! Healthy food tastes good! -
Did you have a hernia repair?? If you did, it is more painful than the sleeve. And it's right where you are describing.

Pain Killers In Mexico
Dooter replied to mesaucedo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure about Mexico, but I had to pay for my own pain meds (crappy insurance) and it was like...4 bucks for the bottle of liquid vicodin. It's pretty cheap stuff. That was at CVS. -
I'm 9 days out from surgery and still hitting the pain meds because of the hernia repair. Has anyone had that pain this far out? I know it's a relatively short amount of time since surgery, but everyone talks about ditching the meds after 2 days, yadda yadda.... Not me man....I got the refill and I'm using it. I figure there's a reason he gave me a refill, but I like to hear people say "oh yaaaa, I had the same thing!" Sooooo.......anyone?? Anyone?? Bueller?
