Frustrated?!?!?! Any Suggestions?
Dooter replied to Tif 2.0's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm right there with ya babe. We just have to wait for time to pass and stay off of the scale. I can FEEL myself shrinking. I LOOK like I should weigh 280, but the stooped scale keeps saying 300 each and every day!!! I am trying a strip down of carbs to see if I can get the fat stores burning faster and maybe tip the scale. I was so excited to get to 300 because that meant I was about to be back in the twos. Then I got shafted by the evil scale! We got this!! It will happen. IT WILL HAPPEN!!! WE GOT THIS!!! OKAY??? Don't lose hope. -
If you are always dizzy and weak, I fear you are not getting enough protein. Is there a way you can get a test to be sure you do not have a leak or anything bad. The back pain does not sound normal. As far as not losing weight right now, I am 5 1/2 weeks out and have been in a stall for 2 1/2 weeks now, but can feel myself shrinking. I know the loss is coming soon. It's a process your body is going through and you have to be patient with it. Take care of your health and don't worry about the loss. It will happen. It IS a very emotional time, and many people go through some emotional changes. There are lots of hormones being released back into your system and little things WILL make you cry. That part is normal. Hopefully soon all these unpleasant things will be a distant memory. Praying for you dear.

I'm sorry, the brand I had was called BARI ESSENTIALS. I spaced that one. So, just put that name in the place of what I wrote. The Bariatric Advantage that I have is the wretched chewable vitamins that nearly make me throw up any time I think about it. (blech)

Whoa...there was a lady on here yesterday inquiring about band vs. sleeve. I must point her to this info. -

Well, I tell you, my PCP is just tickled pink to take on my follow up care. I had my surgery in Dallas, but I live in New Mexico, so I can't exactly fly to Dallas all the time. (I wish I could, my surgeon is a doll!) My PCP is bending over backwards for me, as I am his first VSG patient, so it's a change of pace for him I guess. It's not the worst thing in the world. We've had the surgery, we know how to work it. Have a doc that looks after you. It will all be ok. Emlefe- you are doing FINE!! You are being a perfect ANGEL with your food. I'm one of the ones allowed to have all the things you listed and I've lost 40 lbs. Don't let him bully you. Your stomach only holds so much. You WILL be successful. Either because of him or in spite of him!!

Lose And Loose Are Two Completely Different Words
Dooter replied to Globetrotter's topic in Rants & Raves
If English is not your native tongue, you get an automatic pass! No worries! (That's my vote, anyway- I'm impressed with ANYone who can speak more than one language, and especially more than TWO!!) -
Also, some brands will sell you samples.

I used the Bariatric Advantage as well. I'm a chocolate lover, and I have to say, I did not love the chocolate but the vanilla was very palatable especially if you add sugar free Jello or flavorings, ice and the like. And if you actually have all you are supposed to (4 with milk or 5 with water) your body will be very happy with the complete nutrition it is getting. (Your brain is something else entirely). I did not have a choice in the matter, as my surgeon likes a level playing field. Everyone gets BA or Optifast. I had Optifast years ago and did not care for it. My brain was REALLY hungry until around day 9 when I had a total emotional meltdown. Then the next day and from there on out, I was fine. I just didn't care any more. After surgery I had three more weeks of that, so I was on liquids for a total of 5 weeks. (one week of that was Clear Liquids post op.) If you go with B.A., you will need 3 canisters (about $200). Also, If they haven't told you yet....if you drink coffee, get detoxed well before surgery. You don't need to go through caffeine withdrawal while you're trying to recover from surgery. (you can have it back later, don't worry ) My two cents.

Lose And Loose Are Two Completely Different Words
Dooter replied to Globetrotter's topic in Rants & Raves
I had a lose and loose comparison as my status for quite some time. (or something similar.) spelin is wun uv mye pet peaves. It buggs me two. While were on the subject: Your- something belongs to you. "This is YOUR book." You're- Contraction of "You are" There- location or "There are two Cookies left." Their- belongs to those people And I agree with the random use of the apostrophe. There are rules. Let's try to remember them!    (all' of' the' lol' face's are' s'o no' one' think's I'm' takin'g myself' too' serious'ly! ) -
Be a squeaky wheel. Call EVERY day and ask about cancellations. They'll soon find you one just to shut you up. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. Trust me. It's worth a try!

Husband Down Plays My Wt Loss-Frustrated!
Dooter replied to Lisa821's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband walked behind me last night and stopped and hugged me and said "dang! You ARE getting skinny! (I'm still 300 lbs, mind you....) He's envisioning the 42 y.o. hottie he's gonna have on his arm! He's a skinny boy too. He knows that I'm over the moon crazy for him, so he doesn't have any weird issues about me losing weight. He just wants me to be healthy for him and our boys. He enjoys my company and wants me to go hiking and camping with all 5 of us together. My weight was a hindrance to our family life sometimes, so he's really excited for me and for us. And we also work out together at the Y, and have for some time. If you can speak openly to your husbands, and work these things out, life will be beautiful. I pray this for all of you with spouse non-support issues. -

Either I'm Pregnant Or It's The Diet Soda
Dooter replied to Bcole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's hard to keep up with drinking enough liquids on a trip. I'm guessing you're experiencing some water retention due to a lack of hydration. The only reason I say that is the exact same thing happened to me after surgery. I took a weekend trip and didn't drink enough. It made my weight bounce a little when I started drinking, but then came back down. Or you're preggers. (jk) -
Check out Unjury and see if their ingredients would effect you that way. They make a chicken broth powder that is really good.

OH ya. Those sleeping hormones are loosed and WATCH out!! Been there done that. It's not pretty.

I've heard SO many people on here talk about band failures and complications. And what's more...once you decide to have a revision surgery from band to sleeve, the damage from the band can complicate the sleeve and cause more problems. Just something to think about. (I'm not just saying random thoughts. These are actual incidents I've heard from people.) Many problems. At five weeks, I'm feeling great and looking forward to my smaller self!

I put the eggs, light mayo, dill relish with some juice for flow, salt and pepper ALL in my mini blender and just went to town until is was smooth. It was awesome. Sat very well.
