Crying Inwardly, Can't Believe He Said This!

There are a few people on here that I see as my "paradigm of hope" and you are ONE OF THEM!!! I look at your success and know I can do as well! Don't EVEN let that man get you down. It's got to hurt, because he is your love and he's not acting like it. You tell him. You tell him! Make him understand what he's done to you. And keep doing what you're doing!

    Why Am I Not Losing?

2 questions: Are you logging your food on something like My Fitness Pal? And, are you exercising? Some people don't need to log, but if you're not losing, it's time to put your intake under the microscope. Try to at least walk every day if you're not doing any exercise. You might be already, but these are basic issues to start with...

    Plateau After 4 Weeks?

OH.....MY....GOSH!!!! I could have written the SAME exact post just recently!! I started at 340, lost a lot right away, then right at 3 weeks....total stall!! It lasted for SIX WEEKS!!! If I got on the scale and saw 300 one more time I was going to blow!!! I tried a variety of things. HOwever, in frustration, I think I let my diet slip a little. I was obsessively logging my food on My FItness Pal, so I stopped. Well, I wrote to my dietician and he confirmed that this was not normal, so I reassessed EVERYTHING. I'm doing cardio only now, and I have to stay around 800 calories or I will not lose. My carbs had to be shaved down as well. I had to stop eating Greek yogurt because of the high carbs. I switched to "carbmaster" yogurt with a touch of grape nuts for Fiber. I try to fill up on Protein items like tuna or chicken before I even consider anything else. I've started logging food again on MFP at least 3 or 4 times a week. It helps you know where your cutoff is between stall and loss. Just back yourself up and regroup. A one week stall is fairly "normal," but not six weeks. Stop it before it starts. I may be a little overworked about the subject, but i don't want you to go through the same frustration for that long. You can do it!!!

    Call Me Dumb...but...

That's weird. I've never heard of anyone needing to be on CLEAR liquids before surgery, except for maybe one day. "Liquids" yes (protein shakes and such). Better double check with doc's office. Don't want to go against instructions. I mixed my protein shakes with skim milk, 'cause they said I could. But if I used water, I could have one extra shake per day.
  6. Textbook surgery and recovery. I was on the pain meds for exactly two weeks because of the hernia repair pain. But that was it. I was very blessed in that.

    Omg! This Is Frustrating....

That's one reason I opted not to tell anyone. I attend a very close-knit church and we eat together a LOT. I did NOT want everyone evaluating my plate and constantly asking how much weight I've lost. I've already got one close friend doing that. He's a "biggest loser" fan, and is excited to see how much i lose, but PLEASE.... So...ya, that's the position I'd be in if I'd have made this any more of public knowledge than it is. ONe thing for sure...it'll keep you honest!
  8. Dear Food, I know you think I'm stupid for talking to you because...well, you're food and you can't hear me. I just want to tell you that it's been quite a ride these last 42 years. We've had our ups and ups and ups and ups and downs and ups and ups. It's time for our relationship to change. I'm not breaking up with you, because I still need you to live, however, our relationship has to change now. And really....believe me when I say...It's not you. It's me. I'm the one with the problem, so don't ever blame yourself. You're really sweet. And salty. And delicious...OH WHAT AM I SAYING....how can we ever part?? NO!! We must part for a time. Two weeks- no more than five, I promise. When we come back together- things will be different. You must hide your sweetness from me. Don't tempt me further with your refinements. I want to see the REAL you....the one with all the vitamins and minerals and protein...yes...I said protein. Hey, I told you things were going to change. And for pete's sake, stop bringing your friends around! But don't worry...you'll always have a place...sorta...close to my heart... No, I didn't have a mental break. I start liquids Monday. (siiiigh)
  9. Holy Guacamole Batman!!! Well, if those are your muscles in that pic, I can see why you need the calories! You go girl! Fantastic abs!

    Eating Myself To Death

It's funny how different everyone's body reacts to this. I've read on here about people who have lost all of their weight without ever watching what they eat. ME?? If I go over 800 calories or get a few too many carbs?? I stall like a Beemer full of diesel!! Dead in the Water. You'll find your happy spot. I'm trying to find a menu that I can mostly just eat the same thing every day and not have to think too hard. I'm almost there too.
  11. <<Insert classic, dingy blonde voice here>> "OMIGOSH!!! I totally just kept getting skinnier and didn't even KNOW it! I just hate it when I forget to eat all the time! heeheehee!" Hahaha! I'm hoping to hit 140 someday in my dreams.... Good job, Congratulations!!
  12. Good rule of thumb: If it tastes good- spit it out!! ;)

    Carnie Willson

OH weird! Everything I read up until now said she had a lap band put in! I was wondering why on earth anyone would do that after GBP!! This makes more sense. I wonder if all the other reports were written off of one errant report? huh...
  15. I was told to take chewables almost right away. Even though I was on liquids. Just chew them until they ARE liquid in your mouth. Use a good bariatric quality Vitamin.

    Riding In A Car..

We drove home from Dallas to Albuquerque one week after surgery. I was supposed to leave 3 days earlier, but I decided I was not ready, so we waited. I was glad I did. I had a hernia repair that was giving me a LOT of pain, but you may be different. Everyone can tolerate different amounts of discomfort. I wanted a BED. No car. Bleh. I'm sure you'd be fine, but HEED the advice to stop and walk EVERY hour. This is a must if you're going to be in a car that long.
  17. I can honestly say....I obsessed over the whole thing so much- there was not ONE surprise before, during or after. I can't think of anything. I spent countless hours of research. (mostly on this website!)
  18. Oh how depressing..... I'm older, shorter, and fatter! LOL ....so, no. hahaha
  19. I got Bariatric Advantage that I ordered online, and they are WRETCHED! The only ones I kept are the whole pills, like the Vitamin D and B12. I gave away the chewable multis and chewable calcium. BLECH. I ended up going to the store and got some chewable prenatal Vitamins to tide me over til I found a more suitable bariatric formula. Now that I can swallow whole pills, I'll be looking for something like that. My doc said anything the size of an M&M is ok, so I may have to cut the pills. I want to try the ones Stacey131 has!
