  1. MY FITNESS PAL!! Many of us on here are on it too. Look for the thread that has everyone's username
  2. I'm shedding like a lab in early summer!! I do know that it will grow back, as this already happened to me once at the onset of menopause. It did grow back then, so i'm confident it will this time too. Totally worth it.
  3. Awwww....I'm from San Mateo but i don't live there anymore I hope you find some buddies!

    Scared To Eat

Hey we're sleeve twins!! (2/13/12) I find that a lot of fears come from the "unknown" elements of something. I got pretty wrapped around the axle about everything i was taking in. I wanted to log the air particles i was breathing. My Fitness Pal has been a great tool for seeing that what I'm taking in is not as big and bad as it feels sometimes. At first it helped me become obsessive about food logging, but now Im using it to my benefit. It's a good look at reality, whichever side of reality you have trouble with. I keep thinking I'm over eating or not getting enough Protein, or not exercising enough, but when I enter it all in to MFP, my mind can rest knowing I'm on track. I don't know if that helps at all....
  5. It's a good motivational post for those having pre op food issues! thanks for posting, and I pray you have grand success and reach all your goals!

    West La Kaiser Dr Zelada

    You're finally getting there! yaay!!
  7. Well...I was really really bad. My doc requires a two week liquid diet, so beforehand I went hog wild, so to speak!! Krispy Kreme, Mc Donald's, Arby's, favorite restaurants, favorite Desserts... the list is long and fat and sugar laden. Do I regret it? Not for even a second. Should I have done it? Probably not, because I could be down 10 extra pounds that I had to get rid of first. BUT...I know me. I would have been pining away at the things I loved that I wanted to taste one last time before I changed my habits and my life. My future may even include "one bite" of some of those things down the road in maintenance land. Those items do not haunt me, and I don't even really care about them anymore. (oddly enough, some of those things don't taste the same anymore). That said- it's a brilliant plan you've laid out and VERY good advice. No time like the present to start changing one's attitude about food. It's hard to do pre op, but it gets TONS easier post op. I wholeheartedly agree about the soda thing. Ditch them now and never pick them up again. (even aside from the debate about sleeve stretching, they are full of poison and NO one needs them.) Good thoughts Patrick!! Keep 'em coming!!
  8. Ha!! My first thought when I saw the question was..."pick a gooooood surgeon!!" Then I thought it'd sound smart alec-y. But seriously. Research the surgeons and get their leak rates, and talk to their patients. (there's a good mix on here!) Other than that: FOLLOW the post op diet TO THE letter!! Can't stress that enough. The technicalities of surgical procedures would best be gone over with a surgeon. I think they all do generally the same thing, but might have slight differences.
  9. It's a lot of work, but THIS time it's work with RESULTS!! Our work gets rewarded with falling numbers this time! Makes it worth all the discomforts that come along.

    Calories At 6 Weeks

    Yep, you're good.
  12. I went through that too folks. For a good two months, I was ravenously hungry. When they take out the large part of the stomach, that also removes most of the Grehlin (hunger hormone) producing center. Hormones are coursing all through your system, so when the production stops, it will take some time to get it all out of the system. Right at two months, I quit having trouble with that. Now and then I might have one day when I can't seem to stop wanting to eat, but it's not too often. Even then, a handful of something fills me up. Hang in there.

Ten Mistakes That Weight Loss Post-Ops Make

This is great. you should post it out in one of the forums. Not everyone will click on the blogs. This is good stuff.
  14. Those are perfect AFTER surgery. I don't think dr k would approve them for pre op diet though.
  15. Well I blamed my huge stall on starting solid food so I just wanted to emphasize the need to persevere (trying to be funny but sounded too serious! ) just don't freak out if you stall a little.

Guys, Dr Kim is very conservative with his pre and post op diets but stick to them and I promise you won't regret it. You will heal quickly and well! Do all the walking he suggests and you will feel great really fast!
  17. How's it going there??

    Gallbladder Surgery

Yep, worse pain I EVER had was gallbladder attacks (and I've given birth to twins and one boy with a HUGE head!!). Had mine out in '02 and it was MUCH easier than the sleeve surgery IMO. The attacks feel like you're being knifed in the gut right below the sternum. It won't stop until the fat is out of the system. Bethany and Capt. D-- AVOID FATS LIKE DEATH!! This will help prevent further attacks until you can get it fixed!

    All The Things

Oh, one more thing..however much you buy...it will be too much. Just sayin'....be prepared for leftovers. I still have a ton of soup cans in my cabinet i will never use. And baby food. Carmex or chapstick. Most people need it directly post op.

    All The Things

After surgery, many of us have a temporary "plain water" intolerance. I bought the individual powder packets of G2 and Powerade Zero so I could do my little sips of clear liquids the first week after surgery. (I was not allowed anything but clears for the first week). G2 has a few more calories than the powerade zero, so it felt like i was getting something good with the electrolytes. I still use the powered even now. (I hate drinking water )

    Signs Of Dehydration

Ooooooo, ya, you'll be headed straight for about 4 bags of fluids in the ER if you're not careful. If you have trouble with nausea, take the anti nausea stuff the gave you when you left the hospital. (i think most of us are sent home with those.) Do what you have to to be able to drink! And if I'm not mistaken....i think dehydration makes you nauseous...so....vicious cycle......
