Slimed For 1St Time @ 12 Wpo
Dooter replied to AngelaEEEE's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
4 months out and I am still BLESSED to have not experienced this!!! I'm hoping that means I won't?!? -
OH, I was a total freak before the surgery. It didn't help that my husband couldn't come with me. I was an emotional wreck. Afterward- not a problem. (A lot of people report emotional roller coasters AFTER the surgery. Not me. All before.) You will feel much better once it's done and you're on the road to shrinking.

NICE!! Congratulations!!!

Premier shakes from costco are tasty, low sugar, not bad on the calories and high in Protein. They are pre mixed, however. -

Well...wait a minute....what was your name before? what picture did you have up? I need to get my bearings here.... -
It will get better. I was so very sick of food and its rule over my life that i just didn't care what anyone was eating. They were eating the enemy and I hated it. (dramatic, I know.... ) When you start shrinking, you won't give a rat's....well....you know. Stay strong!! We got this!!

How Offen Should I Eat And Drink?
Dooter replied to Katrina Huxley's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here is what i was told in my post op booklet: You pretty much have to drink one oz of liquid every 15 minutes during all your waking hours to get your liquids in. Or at least 4 oz per hour. I was told to eat Breakfast, lunch and dinner and one "Protein power up" mid morning, and one mid afternoon as well. All of this should be around 600-800 calories. with 60-80 grams of protein. (a "protein power up" is a low fat protein snack, like a cheese stick or 1/2 cup cottage cheese or half a Protein shake or something like that) OUtside of that, he says no snacking. -

Did Anyone Just Go And Get Your Surgery And Talk To Your Md After?
Dooter replied to Naturals's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My GP has never had any patients with a sleeve so he's very interested in the whole thing. Wants to know all about it and how i'm doing. He barely remembers me from one time to the next, but it's a change of pace for him from "my knee hurts, I need antibiotics, I've got a rash.." and whatever else he deals with every day. Every time I come in, I weigh less, and he's just tickled! It's pretty cool. -
To Anyone Who Has Lost At Least 200 Lbs- How Long Did It Take?
Dooter posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm just trying to get a general idea of how long it will take me to lose (not "loose" ) 200 lbs. I know everyone is different, but just generally speaking.... -
Help, Is Vsg The Right Thing For Me?
Dooter replied to cosmogirl70's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc's leak rate is more like...1 in 1500. If you are not comfortable with his rate, I'd shop around. Keep in mind also...Leaks are not always caused by the doc. Some are caused by non compliance in the post op diet. I don't know the percentage of each, but there is patient responsibility involved in preventing leaks as well. -
Excited... But A Little Unsure....
Dooter replied to fcslboy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're like a lot of the rest of us, at 43 you'll end up at 350, or even 400. That's 10 years from now. Not to be negative or a downer, but that's been the reality for me. My losses were rewarded with triple gain. I wish I'd had this done 10 years ago. The "not being able to eat" (for me it was 5 weeks) is so very temporary, and TOTALLY worth it!! It goes by like a blip on a radar screen and you'll barely remember what it was like as you start trying on smaller and smaller clothing! Just sayin'...... you could do it....easy. -
What's The Deal On Hunger?
Dooter replied to sillygirlmi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know that exact gnawing feeling you are talking about!! I had that until I was two months post op. It stopped right at two months, and now i feel "normal." Or at least the NEW "normal." It was explained to me that the hunger hormones still had to get out of the system. Made sense, because it shut right off right about when this person said it would. If I didn't go to bed early enough, my stomach felt like it was trying to eat itself!! It was a real, physical feeling, and I was plenty loaded up on prilosec and whatnot. Hopefully your shutoff is coming! -
I've heard reports of both ways on here. Some can't get rid of their bazongas if they TRY, and others of us...welll....now they're just bruising my knees.

Did Anyone Just Go And Get Your Surgery And Talk To Your Md After?

YUP. And he couldn't have been more thrilled. The stats he goes by say that once a person has a BMI of over 40, they are unlikely to lose and keep the weight off permanently without surgical intervention. He is keeping close tabs on me, because he has also seen many WLS failures. Lord Help Me!! -
When you're in the stages of blender foods and soft foods, you really can hold a little more because the runnier the texture, the more quickly it goes through (that's why no drinking with food). When you start to eat more solid foods like chicken or tuna- BAM. You're full right now. Is this what you've experienced? Is it the more solid foods suddenly making you more full?

What Do You Do With Your Nose Piercing?
Dooter replied to buffalogal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have my nips pierced, and they were only 3 months along at the time of my surgery. I had my piercer replace them with tigon. It's a clear rubbery/plastic-y place holder, basically, that is approved to have in place during surgery (medical grade tubing). They had no problem with it, as long as there was no metal. the tigon tube is held in place by two O rings on either side of the piercing. It's not pretty, but gets the job done and saves your piercing. -
I do the elliptical 5 days a week now. Told my husband I'm an "addictical." I'd love to start riding a bike again but I have to wait until I'm lighter. Last time I tried to ride one I thought the tires were flat. No. It was just me mashing the poor thing into the pavement. :/

You are on the right track with reading all you can. Google stuff, watch you tube videos, read on here as much as you can. There are gobs of information you can take in. On this site, there is an FAQ post that you should look into as well. I too, would like to get to 140, but would be thrilled forever if I got below 200 again! I KNOW we can reach our goal!! It's a long road and a lot of work, but this time....you will get results for your efforts. Not to be discouraging, but realistic: If you tried to eat like this without the surgery?? You'd kill someone before the day is out. At least I would, that's for sure. I think it's a decision you will be happy about. A little scary to think about at first, but it's awesome!

That was one of the first questions I asked of my surgeon when starting research. He said by the time i get home, i could have one cup of regular coffee per day. The first month I was only able to take a few sips before I was done. Now I suck my one cup down like nuttin'!! It does not bother my stomach at all since i am eating good food with no sugars or fats. Sugar and fat is what always irritated my reflux all the years i've had stomach troubles. the coffee on top of that just compounded the issue. Oh, and the sodas. Now that all the "poopoo" is cut out of my diet, coffee is no trouble at all. And surgeon approved!

Website For Keeping Track Of Food Intake

Does the iPad have a camera? My iPhone does, and you can scan the food directly into your diary. It's soooo cool!
