New To Sleeve... Testing The Waters.

I think ANY surgery is disturbing to watch. Bleh
  2. I've known several people who have lost a lot of weight quite rapidly. Oddly, it took me until they had lost it all to really snap that they looked different. It's like one day I looked a them, and then with an old mental picture, it all just hit. "WHOA!! HE is WAY smaller!" That is what's happening to me. People are looking at me after 4 months and 70 pounds and saying "WHOA!....." (now if only I could see it in myself!!!)
  3. This website is FULLLLL of band to sleeve revisions. Read up on their experiences. It's very eye opening. Makes me very very very glad I never messed with the band.

    Cravings & Hunger Q's

I keep THINKING I want certain things, so I'll taste it to see if it's still everything I think it's going to be, and EVERY time without exception, it's wholly unimpressive!! So now i'm reforming my thoughts on all of these foods and they bother me a LOT less!! Food just tastes.....different now. I actually crave Protein now. THANK GOD!!!

    Post Op- Newbie

Ya it might have been a bit soon for coffee. I was served decaf in the hospital and my doc said after a week or two I could have one cup of real coffee per day thereafter. I was only able to handle a sip or two at first. Your tastes and tolerances change a little after surgery.

OH definitely this is the time to ask all you can, and read all you can. The NSAIDs can be hard on your stomach beFORE surgery, much less after. Some people don't have trouble with them, but surgeons don't like us dumping Drain-o on their work. That said...on rare occasion, if I have a bad enough pain, I'll take ONE 'profen and that usually helps. Ya, you have to stay on top of those kidney stones! My dad just had a 12mm one busted up and that wasn't even his biggest one! So definitely find out about the ramifications of that!! Might have to chop up your pills. I was told after six weeks, I could take pills the size of an M&M or smaller. Before that, everything had to be crushed up. See if you can take your potassium citrate in crushed powder form. I think if you get that issue straightened up, you will do very well with this surgery! It is awesome!! OH...one more thing....keep in mind- when you are lighter, your joints are MUCH happier. Your knee will thank you, hopefully by less pain!

    Suggestions

I always have a low sugar, higher protein yogurt with 1/4 cup of Fiber One mixed in. I get some protein (9g) plus a little fiber without many carbs.

    Body Shape Changes

Ya, my bag o' wet laundry in the front is holding on a little more than i'd like it to. I carried twins, so it's just not pretty. My butt is shrinking faster than the belly for sure. :/

My husband also wanted to know "well what if you got stomach cancer? (God forbid) What then?" So I asked and they said in that case you can be given a gastric bypass removing the affected stomach area. As far as pill size- my cardiologist gave me these fancy fish oil pills to take to rebalance my cholesterol. (It's low--it's just too much LDL to HDL. Anyway...I digress...) These suckers are MONSTERS!!! They're like the size of those huge glucosamine pills or whatever those are. They seem to go just fine. They do break down, unlike what you're talking about. Hope any of that helps...

HI! Ask away....we'll answer what we can. There is an "FAQ" post that may interest you. It should be pinned in.....pre op questions? I'm not sure exactly, but it's pinned in one of the main forums. That may help you out a lot right away. (Yes, I looked and it's the first post in the pre op forum)

    Portion

Anything more solid than that, don't go over 1/2 cup. At least that was what i was told at my four month followup. I just don't think 6 oz of yogurt is harmful. Like Nate said, it's very liquidy.
  18. Wow. That's actually pretty good. I did not lose a single pound the first week, and I was on clear liquids. The doc said that is totally normal. SO.....if you lost your first week....BONUS!!! Take it. Plus...you have to understand there will be fluid retention that will make your weight fluctuate. you must not panic about this. It is normal, and it will be a continuous part of your journey. Just always keep in mind it will go away again. You did NOT gain a pound of fat back.

    Today Is The Day

    WOO HOO!! Congrats!!
  20. HAHAHAHAHA!! I didn't get it at first either, because I didn't encounter anyone that called themselves a nutritionist. The surgeon's PA is the one that dispenses our nutritional guidance, so I was like, "HUH??" NUT??"
  21. Ya, as your food gets more solid, the quicker you will feel the full feeling. When I was on blenders, I could eat more than 4 oz. sometimes even 8 oz. (I've since been told to NEVER eat more than 1/2 cup of ANYthing at one time....) Once I got to solid food, especially Proteins like tuna or chicken or beef-- I got full on a LOT less. No worries.

    Gross Incision :( :( :(

It sounds bad, and probably looks pretty bad, but I was told even pretty far out that that could still happen. Mine all healed well, but when I went to see my regular doc for a followup, he said that if it opened up and seeped a colored Fluid, not to be concerned, that it does happen. Like was mentioned above, make sure it's not too warm to the touch and make sure you don't have a fever.
