Oh Diet Coke, How I've Missed Thee...
Dooter replied to LT1002's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a diet coke-a-holic of the worst kind. I don't even come close to missing it now. Sodas don't exist anymore. That stuff will rot the guts right out of you! Our itty bitty stomachs must be protected! -
No, just the fiber one cereal. I put 1/4 cup in my low carb yogurt in the mornings. I think I looked at the bars and didn't want to give up that many carbs and calories for such teeny food.

Whats Up? Am I Doomed To Be Fat Forever?
Dooter replied to tinydancer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Imma tell you what I tell every noob that runs into this.... You are following the rules, and your stomach is microscopic, so your body has no choice but to lose weight! You MUST MUST MUST be patient!!!! Back up and look at the big picture. Don't look at your weight today. Look at the trend. In a few weeks you will look at "the graph" (in your mind or on paper, whatever) and you will see the downward slope. It WILL happen. Repeat after me: IT WILL HAPPEN!!!!!! I MUST BE PATIENT!!! Ok? I promise, it will be ok. -
Hey Ladies... A Few Personal Questions
Dooter replied to myownjourney's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your name says it. It IS your OWN journey. And we understand it, so if you're getting flack for it, just come here. We'll get you back on your feet. People are scared of what they don't understand. On first sight, WLS is a scary proposition until you become educated about the hows and whys of it. You are educated about it, but they are not, so they are scared for you. I get that. It's just hard to make them understand. Most of the time if they will listen, they will eventually get it. -

And how to shut your friend up? Good question. Skinny people just don't understand. She doesn't understand that once your BMI hits 40, you have very little chance of keeping the weight off without surgical intervention. The statistics are very small. :/ -
Hey Ladies... A Few Personal Questions
Dooter replied to myownjourney's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, sweetie, here's how you're going to have to look at it: Your boobs may or may not get that bad since you are so young, but do you want big perky boobs, or do you want to be thin and healthy? My husband said that his apprehension of my getting this surgery was the saggy skin. I said "well- no problem- I can just keep it full of fat and it won't sag!" He said "uhhhh....good point." so....there might be some trade off here. That's why God gave us plastic surgeons. -
I Can Suddenly Eat More
Dooter replied to Bigdogkc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine healed quickly in jumps like that. I freaked out a little because I hear of so many that have trouble eating a couple teaspoons, etc.... not me. I moved right along. I was actually hoping for some prolonged swelling -

I was told two weeks, but everyone will tell you something different. Every doc has such different recommendations, all you can do is go with what yours told you. One thing you can count on...if it hurts...DON"T do it!

Tired Of Waiting......taking A Break From Site...i Think.
Dooter commented on Gijane2012's blog entry in Gijane2012's Blog
Wow. I could've just about written that SAME post around January!! You really do obsess just trying to figure out what life will be like post op. Taking a break is a great idea, especially the week before surgery. Limit your time on here or you will freak out on what people are writing. Go flush your brain of it all for a while. That's a good idea. If you've decided surgery is right for you, then don't let any negativity from anyone ruin that for you. -
I got some tonight from Trader Joes- All beef, uncured, no nitrites or nitrates, etc...and DEEelicious!

A Little Worried Here.... Help :-(
Dooter replied to AnewG2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found this: (of course there is more out there, but i thought this would be a start....) Signs and Symptoms of Blood Clots Unfortunately the symptoms are sometimes mild, and easily confused with other conditions. If you have a blood clot in your leg (DVT) you may notice: New swelling in your arm or leg. Skin redness. Soreness or pain in your arm or leg. A warm spot on your leg. -

Dooter replied to AnewG2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Eeew no....I have not heard of this. I thought I'd read about almost everything on here. Have you called your docs office yet? I would be concerned of blood clots, but I don't know the symptoms for that.... -

It was a yes or no question, so my answer was no. I did not read it to say to refrain from answering if you have had a good experience. At least that's how I read it. I do not think my positive response invalidates anyone's bad experiences. At least I did not mean to come across that way. -

NOpe. Nothing. I spent about 2 months totally obsessing over every detail of this surgery, and probably read 2 years worth of posts on this website alone....there were virtually no surprises, and I've not had one complication or even unhappy moment over it. I haven't even thrown up since the hospital. Lord willing, that is how it will keep going. -
YAAAAYYYY congratulations!

Surprising? Hmm.... Just the change in attitude about food and exercise (for the better), but i was hoping for that. Other than that, I did so much research and reading on here, that everything that happened was right on par. I'm 42, so I do have a little loose skin, but i'm working out like a fiend, and I'm going to wait a good year or two AFTER my goal weight is reached before I panic about it. The body has an amazing ability to do things you don't expect. Feel free to PM me with any questions. I'd be happy to share -
For the third time since I've been married (13 years) I had to put my wedding ring back around my neck hanging from the fat chain. BECAUSE IT'S TOO BIG!! WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!!! The other two times were because I was either pregnant or just too fat! NOT THIS TIME!! OH YEAHHHH!!!

OH, my butt is MELTING away!!! I'm so happy!! I've always had a HUGE round butt with a big shelf in back. Now it slopes down, and I don't float like a cork in the swimming pool!!! YAAAYY!!! I love the flat, stick skinny idea. (mostly because I've always been "saddled" with this enormous thing )

Not a one. I took GREAT comfort in Dr. Kim's complication/leak rate. The national average for leaks and such is 1%. His is .01%, so anytime I started to feel really nervous or freaked out, that thought was very calming. I am doing very very well. Almost 80lbs since February! I was hoping for 60 by October. I blew that number right out of the water!
