Dooter replied to theoldmusicbox's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
OH OH!! And how about not having to worry about which bathroom stall you go into?? And and when you're sitting on a chair and you drop something...you can reach down and PICK IT UP?!? Isn't it fun?? And being able to rinse in the shower without the detachable shower head? i could go on and on..... -
Good going!!! Keep it up!!!

Romans 6:22, 23-For the wages of sin is death, but the FREE gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Oh, I most definitely get hungry. I get kinda ravenous sometimes even. Thankfully though, once I get something to eat, even a little...I'm ok. But I do get hungry and that happened after just a few weeks for me. Nothing like I USED to get, however. And it took a LOT more to fill me up.

Questions Questions Questions !
Dooter replied to Bruno's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was not ever going to do RNY because the thought freaked me out a little, so when I read about the sleeve, I KNEW it was for me. One reason I would never have done RNY was because of all the people that I have either personally known, or seen in the media that have regained their weight because they stretched it back out. I can't speak to any insurance matters, because I paid out of pocket, but for me...VSG was the only way to go. My BMI was 55 when I started. Maybe even 56. I think it's in the lower 40s now and still going. Good providence with your decision.... -

When Did You Start Exercising
Dooter replied to lil4heartz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started really exercising when I made my surgery appt (3 months prior). I really wanted a headstart on the whole process. So...after surgery, i started walking from day 1 also, and increased walking as much as possible until I was released for full workouts at....6 weeks? I continued going to the gym for the first six weeks and just walked slowly on the treadmill 3 days a week, and the other days, I walked around my cul de sac a couple times a day. Now I go five days a week and do an hour on the elliptical. (about 4.5 miles). Do as much as you can as soon as you can within your doctor's recommendations for safety in the early weeks. Then hit it hard!! This is your time. Do it!! -

Scaled Hasnt Moved In One Week! Three Weeks Post Op
Dooter replied to klaaspice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
unjury has an unflavored protein that people love to put in juice and Soups. It has LOTS of protein. -
Wow, that seems a bit of an aggressive diet for 5 weeks out. At 5 weeks I was finishing up "blenderized" foods and moving into "soft foods." No chicken or meats or breads or whole or especially raw veggies or anything like that. That could be part of the problem. Your stomach may not be ready for that. Just putting that out there...

Hmm. Did your doc say your bloodwork shows that you still need to take them? Your stomach is a bit more sensitive after surgery, so you may have to alter the type you take or check with your doc and see if you need them at all. They should have done a bloodwork panel and gone over it with you as to what supplements you need. I'd check with him about it for sure. Be sure you're taking your prilosec or what was recommended also.

Ya, I've been told to aim for 800 calories and stay there until i'm done losing. If I go over that for more than a few days, the train pulls right into the station. Doesn't take me long to eat, either. I have to be careful.

I have a 12 year old son that is verging on more than just a weight problem. This hits home.

Capt Derel's Gastric Sleeve Surgery Journey
Dooter replied to Capt Derel's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
STOP?!? What is Stop?? LOL Hey, you're in the sweet spot right now where you fart and lose 5 lbs, so take it while you've got it. You already know how to put it back on if you need to, right? As long as you're strong and healthy, get as skinny as you want baby!!! I agree about the skin thing. The body does amazing things when it needs to. It may draw up more than you expect. I'm hoping for that, anyway. Putting a little muscle under it. Who knows!! -
OOOOHHHHHHhhhh...WEll shoot, which one of us had good control over those impulses??? Hence the surgery... There were very few of those that I DIDN'T give in to. But I tell you what. This surgery changes that drastically. Even with low "impulse control" or cravings, or whatever you want to call it..... Getting rid of most of the hunger hormone and stomach volume helps so dramatically. Of course you have to do some hard @$$ work, but it's SOOO much easier now.

There's noooooo way you'd have choked those puppies down anyway! Halfway through the first McDouble, you'd be wondering what in tarnation made you think you could do it! That's the good thing about the sleeve. It keeps you in check pretty well. The biggest binge we could pull off would last about 5 minutes. (have you been sleeved yet?)

It IS the pain talking. Lord willing, a few months from now, that will be a distant memory and you will be THRILLED with yourself for having the surgery. Many have the buyer's remorse in the hospital bed. I hope you feel better quickly!

Body Piercing-Surgery Question
Dooter replied to amykins's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back to my piercer and got Tigon spacers in the nips and that was pre-approved by the surgeon, so all was well. -
Woman In Bathroom Becomes Hysterical After Looking In Mirror
Dooter commented on Ready?Going..'s blog entry in Ready! Set!'s Blog
I'm with ya! I WAS the fattest chick in the room EVERY time! I am also having trouble shifting the mindset with such rapid weight loss. I still haven't registered that I'm wearing an 18 and not a 30 and that it DOES look different now! Pretty cool.....pretty cool.
