9 Mos Out....cant Eat :( Help!
Dooter replied to kayte819's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Weird! If my restrictions changed to that degree, I'd be concerned too! yikes. Sounds like "something" has gone on down there. I pray it's nothing serious!! -
First Person Noticed!
Dooter replied to robynluevano's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had lost like.....60 lbs and NO ONE had said a word! then 80....nothing!!! I thought "don't you people rem;ember I used to be REALLY huge??? Maybe I don't look so different!" Then all at once a couple weeks ago, at 91 lbs lost....people were on me left and right with comments and questions and congratulations....it was so weird!!! It's like everyone snapped all at once. Kinda funny. Not that I did this so that anyone would notice, but it IS nice to get some encouragement from it! -
....sexy purple panties!!!!! YEAH BABY!!!! I'm starting to feel "normal" again!!! I feel like I'm coming back to me. Speaking of which...my poor husband has to take extra Vitamins and keep up on his fluids and electrolytes. I'm flat wearing him out. My sex drive has gone into super-hyper-speed-freaky-can't-get-enough mode. So ladies.....if your libido is in the ditch....just wait.....just wait. (Oh, and exercise. A LOT). Thank you sleeve. Thank you Dr. Kim. And Thank you God!!!

Well, he's going to have a more serious conversation with this guy on Saturday to see if it's a fit. If so, he'd fly him out there to check the place out and talk more. He's looking to hire in 6 months or so. We have a house to sell too. :s We have a lovely autumn here (nothing like the north east, but...) and we have our balloon fiesta in october which is really fun if you've never seen hundreds of hot air balloons all at once....

HI! Danielle from New Mexico. Anyone there? Surgery date 2/13/12 in Dallas.
-
Hey guys! I don't know how i missed these recent posts!! Adeptdreamer: Going to Dallas was great! I went there with my mom and boys. Hubby had to stay and work. We stayed in a hotel across from the medical center which made it nice. It was a longer drive to Dr. Kim's office, but it wasn't bad. Just make sure you have a GPS!!!!! DAllas is hairy!!! Especially with all the construction. Let me know if you have ANY questions... tuturunner: I have a very good family doc that is more than happy to keep tabs on me, run bloodwork, etc. It's worked out well. NDN_RN: That's cool! JulesNM: I hope all goes well! We need to have a little Abq/RR support group!!

Has Anyone Prepped For Sleeve By Exercising Months Pre-Op?
Dooter replied to Malisima69's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes, I did a lot of pre surgery working out. My surgery was last February, and I started exercising earnestly in December in hopes of getting my heart in shape and just really get a running start at this thing. I wanted to be up and around asap, and I really think it helped more than I know. I did cardio as much as I could until surgery (which wasn't much, being that I weighed 349, but i was improving every day), and that motivated me to want to do my walking after surgery was done. It's hard to get up EVERY hour and walk after you've been cut on, but it really really helps the healing. So yes....pre surgery work out= GOOOD!! -

Hahahaha.....umm.....are you feeling ok?? -
You have sooo much life ahead of you. Beg, borrow, go to Mexico, whatever you have to do, but I swear this surgery was one of the best things I've ever done for myself. Use the resources these people are suggesting. Never give up. Tap anyone you can til you get to 5 grand and go south!! Call the local news media and tell them you're having a bake sale to raise money for weight loss surgery! ANYTHING!! Put up a big sign- "GARAGE SALE- ALL PROCEEDs GO TO MY WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY" Maybe people would just make donations! Just spitballing here......... this would be so awesome for you to get your life back and enjoy it! Godspeed dear.

Butterthebean- back in the spring when I hit my epic 6 week "stall," I read that article until I practically had it memorized. It kept me going. Good stuff. Glad you have it readily available on your signature, it really is helpful.

Ok....STEP AWAY FROM THE LEDGE....Get back inside the building and let's talk about this!!! When was the last time you lost 25 lbs in one month???? HHHMMMMMMM?????? You say "only" 25 lbs. Unless you have 200 or more lbs to lose, then you have lost just about the right amount of weight for the first month. It's FANTASTIC!!! YOU ARE DOING FIIIIIINE!!! Keep on doing what you are doing and the weight WILL come off, I promise! Your body has been through a trauma from which it is still trying to recover and figure out what you did to it. This is right about the time when we all hit a point where we don't lose for a few days or a week or two (or for me...SIX). I did not lose a pound for over six weeks when I was at your stage. Talk about freaking out. It did start up again as I continued on my planned course of eating and exercise. Don't worry, don't freak out. You're doing GREAT!!!! (BTW- I DID have 200 lbs to lose and i STILL did not lose 40 lbs in the first month! )

Omg! This Is Real! Got My Date!
Dooter replied to ThinnerTiff's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
CONGRATULATIONS GUYS!! Very excited for you both!!! -
Back in the "old days" of dieting, we used to call them "plateaus" and assumed they were a natural part of the weight loss process. Which they are!! Now that we've had surgery, we expect the magic fairy dust to make the weight evaporate without any sort of bump in the road. It is merely your body catching up and doing what it needs to do, so when you get to these stalls DO NOT freak out. We've all done it. Some of us learn to accept it, and some continue to freak out. I even bounce UP before I go down past my lowest weight again. I've just learned to accept that too. It's all good!!

Severe Osteoarthritis-Knees
Dooter replied to chilihot59's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm being sent to PT for my knee. Being 200 lbs overweight, I NEVER had knee problems. Once I started exercising to prep for surgery.....BLEW MY KNEE OUT!!! Oh well. In the long run, I find it worth it. I just need to get this knee fixed now, but can't use any steroids!! BAH!!! (not that I enjoy steroids....BUT...) -
Fibromyalgia; Arthritis; Nerve Pain
Dooter replied to mokee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a friend who had many symptoms like yours. She got completely off gluten and has no more pain. This is not sure fire for everyone, but have you tried that at all? She reads every last little ingredient on a label. Even the smallest bit will make her very ill and hurt. Just a suggestion. By now you might be willing to try just about anything. (?) -
Ha! Chapel, not church....

The color we have here is brown. Dirt and weeds. New Mexico has some pretty places, but they're brown too. Trees and grass (other than pine trees) would be soooo nice. He's a draftsman. He draws precast concrete structures, so the local economy doesn't really effect his work. They do jobs for people all over the country. He almost got to do some work on the new 49er stadium, but they ended up not getting that bid. These guys in Tampa really like him. That is one nice thing about New Mexico. There are four definite seasons if you like the changing weather. We've come to dread the cold of winter. Believe it or not, a couple years ago, we had 20 below a few times!! I've always said I'd like to live where it never gets much below 75!

Cottage Cheese ?
Dooter replied to scaredoftheunknown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
cottage cheese is funny....i'm 7 months out, but I swear if I don't actually chew it up, it kinda hurts a little. Steak.....tuna.....beef jerky...nope. it's fine. But something as soft as cottage cheese feels weird if I don't chew the heck out of it. Go figure! It's probably just me, i'm sure.... -
So are you saying our little food porn thread on here should have a warning label and disclaimers?? Wow! crazy stuff...
