2 Weeks Post Op: No Appetite And Taste Buds Dulled
Dooter replied to N/A's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yes. They come back. I was hoping it would stay kinda funky because that helped me, but alas....the taste returns.... -
Both good and helpful articles! Thanks D!

Back in '83, my mom's friend called me Dani-dooter (my name's Danielle) and my mom (Barbara) she called Barber-darber. She had weird names attached to everyone's real name. So, after a while she just started calling me "dooter." Once I stepped into the 90's and "got the email," I used dooter because it was weird and always available. (not so much anymore, oddly enough) Someone at my church got a hold of that info, and now everyone there calls me dooter too. I feel a bit like a cartoon character sometimes, but hey..... it's cool.

9Months & 2Weeks Post Op Update
Dooter replied to jasleeve's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
WHOA! Good to hear from you J!! Glad you stopped by to give us an update! I've been wondering how you've been doing. Have a pic to post for us? (I didn't read the whole thread yet, so I'll be embarrassed if there is one.... ) SOOOOO....You always said that all you went through was NOT worth it to lose weight. (which I could DEFINITELY see....you were pretty miserable) the $64,000 question is.... Would you do it again? Good to hear from you too, Pook!! -
What Percentage Of Your Excess Weight Did You Lose?
Dooter replied to READY TO LOSE IT's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
This is a good question from which to collect responses. My doc said that while 60% of excess weight is the "going rate," the body and your own drive and determination can do more than they can predict. I'm personally not going to be satisfied with rolling over at 60%. I'm down 92 lbs, but I'm not even CLOSE to being ready to give up, but I'm nearing the 60% mark.... -
Most Common Time To Stall
Dooter replied to damanda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That makes sense. I'm 7 1/2 months out, and I've slowed down a LOT. The only thing that really keeps the loss rolling is if I make a conscious effort to shave carbs and increase cardio. As far as stalls that one can count on in the first year? Veer too far off the path and you'll find one! -
Guilty. This is going to be a lifelong battle for all of us.

Do you have Smith's or Kroger's? They have them. BTW- you probably know this already, but they only help the gas directly in the stomach. The surgical gas that is pumped in to expand the body cavity for the surgeon--remains unaffected by gas-x, as that gas is outside the stomach. I don't know if you've had surgery yet, but this info may help someone else as well.

What To Expect When You're In Your 20's
Dooter replied to whitneymalae's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I wish this had been available to me in my 20s. I would have done it in a heartbeat. You go girl. (btw, I applaude your proper use or "you're" and "your." That may sound petty, but it's a peeve of mine ) -
Depressed And Desperate For An Answer.
Dooter replied to KarissaKhaos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Let us know what he says! -
I do 30-60 minutes on the elliptical 5 days a week with 2 or 3 days of strength training. (Doc says we'll be weak and skinny if we don't do some strength training. (low weights with high reps) ) I was doing an hour on the elliptical every time, but I found myself getting tired of it and not wanting to go, so to change it up, I sometimes do just 30 minutes, but at the highest level I can keep up. Kind of a challenge. I love the elliptical, because I've developed a knee problem and the elliptical is the only thing that does not hurt it. (I can't bend it all the way...) So...there's that....

Drinking other things at the same time as protein shakes is fine. Is that what you're asking? I may have misunderstood....

There is a lot to read on here so I admit I did not read every post in this thread, But I am wondering if anyone has mentioned that it takes a couple of months for all the grehlin to get out of the system, And the first couple of months can still bring some intense hunger pangs. It does go away though. Also, nobody noticed I had lost any weight until I hit about 90 pounds then everyone noticed. All of what you have described he is going through is normal.

Is This Long Of Stall Normal?
Dooter replied to msaprildawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stalled for six weeks near the beginning. I had to take measures to get it moving. I was following directions To the letter but, When I shaved off some carbs and increased my cardio, It all started going down again. -
My instructions were to wait 6 weeks, then take nothing bigger than an m&m. Always consult your own surgeon though...

Yup yup yup...... (beautiful picture btw!)

Sleeved Sept 19Th Dont Feel Restriction
Dooter replied to Lloydthumper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agreed. Liquids and runnier foods will not make you feel full. Once you start in on blender foods or mushy stuff or whatever your next more solid phase is.... you'll feel it. No worries. -
They do. If you bug them enough, they will find the password for you, but in my doped up, post anesthesia state, i'll be darned if I could figure the mess out!! Get that arranged ahead of time or something. Bring your own I.T. person...

1 Week Post Op - Question!
Dooter replied to MissKatie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree. That much protein that early is quite impressive! Good job on the liquids.
