Aaaack! My Motivation Has Stalled! Someone Tell Me I Can Do This!
Dooter posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm almost halfway to where I want to be and I've just flat lost my motivation. I feel dangerously close to slipping into old, bad habits. "Just a bite of this or piece of that won't hurt." Before you know it.... Well....you know the story. You've lived it. I"m still exercising. I still can't eat more than a "sleeve sized" portion of food, so a binge in the true sense is impossible, but if anyone could gain weight on little food, it would be me. I've not gained, but certainly dead in the Water. It's not a "stall" like we all talk about. It's just me. I'm stalled. I'm stalling. I don't know what's wrong with me. I just need to push through this, but I need to reset my brain again!! NEWBIES: Don't think this can't happen to you or that surgery is magic fairy dust!! It's blood sweat and tears, but worth it. Even at a time like this, I will tell you it's worth the effort. But it IS hard work, make no mistake and don't let anyone tell you different. You WILL get hungry and your old habits WILL try to haunt you. It's a battle we will wage the rest of our lives. The sleeve is a tool that will make that battle easier, but it doesn't work without YOU. OLDTIMERS: Did you go through this??? How did you get through it?? Tell me I can do this!!! I just needed to be accountable to you all. I feel better. Now I need a good butt kickin'! Here's me from today.... -
Aaaack! My Motivation Has Stalled! Someone Tell Me I Can Do This!

Awwww crap! I forget you can get to Albuquerque quite handily! Ok, ok.... I be good girl. I will take your suggestion under advisement. Sounds like a good plan. I need to re-plan a plan. Take a break and dive in again. Thanks......Keep kicking. (what does your truck look like in case I need to hide??? -
Just wait until you've lost enough weight to look at yourself in the mirror and see the difference. When you look at your "before" pics-- you truly cringe. It's a good thing though

Skin Tiightening Procedures? What Non Surgical Works?
Dooter replied to mommy794's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I've heard that after you reach goal, wait a good 2 years before you decide to do anything like plastic surgery (which it does not sound like you want) because of the amazing restorative properties of the body. Everything may not go back to "normal" but sounds like a lot of improvement can take place in that first couple years. Then evaluate the need to slice and dice. I am also hoping my batwings and bag of wet laundry in the front can be improved by "non cutting" methods -
Anyone With Nausea And Cold Sweats After Having Food ?
Dooter commented on anayortiz's blog entry in anayortiz's Blog
I'm 8 months out and this will still happen to me if I eat food that is too rich and if I eat too much of it too fast. Too rich, meaning....too fatty. A cream soup could do that if you're in early stages. Especially if eaten too fast. -
Just let him cool off. He'll work it out in his mind, but it's a process. Hopefully what comes out of it will be realizing it's a good thing. When you feel he's had enough time, try to ask him specifically what his fears are. Not just that he's afraid you'll die.

Words Of Encouragement Please!
Dooter replied to imlosingit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh boy...I remember that feeling. I prayed and prayed and prayed. That's all I can say to do. It's very exciting but a little scary too. Just try to stay busy until it's time. You'll do great and it'll be over before you know it, and you'll blink and you'll have lost 20 pounds! -
"wls Is Not What God Intended..."
Dooter replied to Susan 2.0's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ok...Throwing my two cents in the pot here. And really....it's not MY two cents. It's from God's word. Your friend says WLS is not what God intended. Well, we have to back WAAAAAYYYY up to the beginning. Here's what God intended: Perfection. To give it a crude summary- He put perfect Adam on the perfect earth, gave him a wife and they screwed it all up. They plunged the creation into death and decay by their sin. Now bear with me....A little more history....This is why God gave The Law to His people, to show them their sins and that they've offended a holy God, the price for which is eternal damnation and that's why God sent Jesus to pay this price for us, so that if we have God granted faith in him, we will be with God forever. Again...crude summary. (Lest you think God didn't see this coming, this was not "plan B." It was foreordained from eternity past....but that's another conversation.....) Adam and Eve were not meant to die. Or get fat, or old, or cancerous or anything else. They were meant to live perfectly forever in perfect bodies. SO...here we are in decay. God has so graciously given us many many many means of keeping ourselves taped up, stapled up, sewn back together, medicated, sliced, diced, lifted, and healed in a variety of ways. WHO says that weight loss surgery is NOT a legitimate form of healing one of our many ills, and what is their qualification in that opinion? The Bible does not say "Thou shalt not have weight loss surgery, but an appendectomy is fine." Here's the bottom line: Can you glorify God in your surgery and weight loss? Can you lose weight to the glory of God? For me that is a resounding YES and AMEN! -
Nice!! My husband and I both ran around today thinking "I WANNA LIVE IN SAFETY HARBOR!! NOWWW!!! LOL

I'm getting really excited!! We go to Tampa on November 1st to talk to possible new employer and have a look around for a couple days. We're going to check out Safety Harbor. So far we like what we see online. Any live experience anyone?

When Does It Stop?
Dooter replied to Futureskinnyperson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 8 months out, and I've been having hair loss for about the last 5 months, but it comes and goes in cycles. If I go for a prolonged period of time not meeting my protein requirements, then a few weeks later, i notice gobs of it coming out, and the same goes when i seem to be "behaving." I notice little baby hairs along my hairline and my hair starts feeling thicker. It's falling out right now. :/ Think i'll go have a shake...... -
Bougie Sizes And How Many Ounces You Should Eat
Dooter replied to SleeveNoob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also have a 34. Depending on the food- If it's a not so good carb laden food- I can hold a cup easy. Dense protein- just 2 or 3 oz comfortably. That said-- my doctor said to never eat more than 1/2 cup at any given meal no matter WHAT the food is. They just don't want me putting more than that in the tiny space to be sure it stays tiny and I don't take in too many calories and such. -
Is Anyone Afraid Of Losing Too Much Weight?
Dooter replied to beba238's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I've already established the fact that I'm an expert at gaining and/or keeping weight on. If I get too low, I know about 534,692 ways to level it off... -
Got it.

Tell him. Absolutely no question about it.

2/13/12- I feel like a new person! Once the landslide loss slowed up I got a little discouraged and goofing around a little, but I think I'm back on track. I'm still losing slowly, but steadily. Exercising 5 days a week. Down 92 lbs. I was hoping for 60 by October, so I can't complain one bit! Now I'm hoping for 100 by my birthday

*gasp* Lady Gaga Gained Weight! The Nerve!- A Body Revolution
Dooter posted a topic in Rants & Raves
Ok- I'm 42 and don't have much in common with an over-sexed pop star that's whipping the hormones of our youth into a screaming frenzy....BUT...... She is creative, and sexy, and pretty talented really... AND--had the nerve to gain 25 pounds!!! *GASP* (Smell that? That's sarcasm....) The media is absolutely 'murdalizing' her (to coin a term from Bugs Bunny). So in retaliation, she has started A Body Revolution...read more about it here: http://popwatch.ew.com/2012/09/25/lady-gaga-body-revolution-born-this-way/ Our young girls need to know that being a scarecrow look-alike is NOT normal, so I'm glad Lady Gaga is doing this. Shoot....her "heavy" pictures are probably 40 lbs less than my goal weight!! "To kick things off, she posted a few photos of herself in just her bra and underwear (some above), with the captions “bulimia and anorexia since I was 15” “but today I join the body revolution” “to inspire bravery” “and breed some m$therf*cking compassion.”" Really???? That's what they're complaining about???? I'd LOVE to look like that!!!! Go get 'em G!! -
Thank You Jesus, I finally got full!!!! I was like a bottomless pit for a few days there, and WHAM! This morning it's a chore to choke down a protein bar. Crazy sleeve.

That'd be cool. I'm in Albuquerque. Most truck drivers roll through the "Big I" at some point...
