Period. From. Hell.
mesaucedo replied to Kiki Green's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on Depo too and I hadn't had a period in almost 4 years at the time of my surgery. I missed a hot before surgery, due to risk of clots so I had a three month break in between. I had spotting non-stop from two weeks after surgery until A few weeks ago when I got my new shot. It finally slowed down and then stopped. The spotting was more like a period though, I couldn't use a tampon but had to have a think/medium pad on at all times. My GYN said the next shot stopped it because it redistributed the hormone to my system. But almost 4 months of spotting. -
StillLooking, as for water my hotel had free bottled water replenished every morning - 3 bottles each day.

Black And Blue Marks On My Legs
mesaucedo replied to CamarilloCA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get bruises very easily know. I actually think it may be because when I bump into something it doesn't just sink into more cushioning but hits bone instead. I don't know, just a theory. -
Ghrelin Hormone
mesaucedo replied to lessofmeismore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hunger was nonexistent until a month and a half out from surgery. Now I get hungry when it is time to eat, every 4 hours or so, but not like before. Instead it is just a hollow feeling kind of. It is much better than feeling starving though! -
Any One Have Trouble With The No Drinking With Food?
mesaucedo replied to Aug2ndsleever's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I guess my plan is a little different. I am allowed to drink right up until 5 minutes before eating and 30 mins after eating. I do take a few small sips during my meal, I can't go without it sometimes. By a "few" I mean 1 or 2. It does take some time. Especially when you go out to eat and they automatically bring you water! -
Crazy Vsg Questions
mesaucedo replied to DeterminedGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cheri, I think she meant without surgery as an eye opener for the OP. I have heard something like 5% of overweight people who lose it on there own will be able to maintain that loss. -
Did You Or Are You Keeping Your Sleeve A Secret?
mesaucedo replied to letsdothis!!!'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow I guess I am the only one who tells EVRYBODY! I mean family, friends, coworkers, bosses! There hasn't been anyone I have felt like would deter my decision or that I would even care what they thought. If a friend hadn't told me that she had it done I wouldn't have ever been here and been so happy. This is why I tell everyone. -
An obstruction of sorts in the intestines, or stomach I don't remember. Here is the original post: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/36052-so-i-had-a-bezoar-anybody-know-about-these/page__hl__bezoar__fromsearch__1

The person with the bezoar had them shelled too. Something about the actual bean. Maybe it was the Fiber? She had them salted and steamed I think.

I was a thick hourglass and now they have switched! I am now an apple and I hate it! My fiance saw me the other day, we live 8 hours apart right now and see each other every month or so, and commented on how good I looked but was sad about my butt being gone. I am too lol My pants sag!
-
I love edamame too but am wary of it now. Someone on here got a nasty bezoar from eating too often. All the stringy parts got stuck! I wonder how often it is ok to eat it.

Labor Day Challenge 2012
mesaucedo replied to jhansen71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been stalled for about a week now. I weighed last Saturday, I think, and I was 204. Well I am still 204. -
I also wanted to mention, which I forgot to! That I also had surgery in TJ with Ponce de leon and know tons of very happy, like me, people who had a great time in Mexico! I even went to Ensenada to the Buffadora (sp?) and markets. It was a blast!

Honestly, it all comes down to ignorance and racism. (not saying your parents are) Media portrays Mexico as some crazy sex, drugs and murder capital where everyone shoots people. I have people that jokingly call my surgery "A shady Tijuana surgery" even now. Most people that were skeptics are now saying how great it is I got it. You will be fine and safe, don't be stupid and wear Gucci with a Rolex and you won't be bothered

I try to stay under 60g of carbs a day. So not really low carb but definitely not normal carb amount. If I do have carbs they come from a Protein bar that I grab as a quick Breakfast or my yogurt. My typical day: Breakfast: Protein shake or bar Snack: Greek Yogurt or cheese (Whether cheese stick or mini babybell light) Lunch: Some type of meat and cheese -- sometimes tuna salad others light salami Snack: part of Protein Bar or yogurt Dinner: Meat cooked however -- usually chicken or pork Snack: Metamucil Fiber pink lemonade Water mix and maybe later some cheese and a pickle Mind you, I start my day at 6 am and end around midnight or 1am On a typical day I eat about 45 g of carbs and 70 g of protein with around 700 calories

Omg I Just Ate Cake 8 Days After Surgery
mesaucedo replied to Mishy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think anyone is being an "alarmist" or "judging". We are all offering advice and, in a sense, support. It is not alarming to let someone know that their actions with food can now potentially kill them. This is the truth, plain and simple. They should have been fully aware of this. Furthermore, saying someone should look into counseling is valid. We all most likely had food addictions. We ate ourselves almost dead. Some people don't stop even after the sleeve, it is a tool. Some need some help to learn how to use it and get to the bottom of their food issues. With all that said, Mishy I don't think you caused a leak or did any real damage. BUT STOP NOW. One bite of this and that is a slippery slope. I got sucked back into sugar way too early out and have been struggling since then to kick it. I didn't even eat it until 2 months out and immediately got hooked again. To start it again so early out is insane. I am stalling left and right and I know it is because I am struggling with sugar. The sleeve is a tool and you need to learn how to use it. -
Dominoes Thin Crust Pizza?
mesaucedo replied to bethnc1970's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I want pizza, I eat pizza. But I am almost 4 months out and can only have half a slice. Like Minckle asked, how far out are you? If you aren't at least 2 months I would say no. -
Of All The Crap You Took To The Hospital What Did You Actually Use?
mesaucedo replied to TinkerToyz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I brought wayyyy too much clothes. I though I would probably change once or twice and wouldn't want to wear the same stinky sweats. I wore them the whole time, well except when I went to Ensenada. I only used my phone, lip balm, tooth brush/paste, shampoo/conditioner, socks, sweats and slippers. I used my laptop once to post on here But I could have just as well used the hotel computer. I didn't put on makeup or even care about my hair. -
Nutrition Plans From Mexico?
mesaucedo replied to grammyto2's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Mine did as well. I also got a note form him for work. It worked out just fine. I didn't really like the nutrition plan though, it focused too much on fruits for me, so I adjusted based on what others had gotten. I still kept to the 2 - 3 weeks liquids though and then mushies for 2 weeks and so on. -
They serve soup everywhere. I MEAN EVERYWHERE. (ok, not fast food but you shouldn't be eating that anyhow) So you will be fine. Chinese has hot and sour soup, egg drop soup, sizzling rice soup etc Mushy wise you could have had tofu based food I guess
-
My "want" of food came back after the first 3 weeks or so. I go out to eat all the time and have since day 2. In the beginning I got broth or Soup and now I get whatever I want. I don't limit myself really. If I want it, I eat it. I just don't eat the whole thing or even half. Most people only do Protein shakes and liquids for the first few weeks.

Question Everyone?
mesaucedo replied to DIRTYMESKIN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When my sleeve doesn't like something, for me refined sugar too quickly and too much, I get a stomach cramp and feel hot and sweaty and almost sick. Then off to the bano I go! Some people dump, some people just get sick. Sometimes nothing happens until later. TMI -- I ate lettuce the other day for the first time and everything was fine until I had a BM. It wasn't digested at all. -
I have a cheapy crock pot from walmart, I think it is 4 quarts and it works just fine. I will toss in some meat and veggies in some broth/water and a few hours later I have food! lol There is this blog that I love that has soooo many ideas: http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/
