  1. I am the same age as you and decided that I needed the sleeve to move on and become healthy. I have tried everything from Atkins to Nutri-system to juice fasts since I was in 8th grade. Nothing ever kept the weight off. I also went to cycling twice a week and yoga twice a week so it wasn't like I just sat around. This decision is a hard one, so take your time. I just knew that I didn't want to spend another 20 years of my life unhappy and feeling like I was missing out on something. If I am like this now, what would happen when I had kids? My family has a history of Diabetes so I didn't want to let it get that far. Ir you read enough posts on here you will see that many people say they wish they had done this years ago and that no diet/exercise routine ever worked for them. You will figure it out soon Don't worry we will support you no matter what.
  2. My surgery was Thursday and I am feeling fantastic!
  3. I am sure they will, I didn't go to Kelly though so I am not 100%. I forgot to bring a hot Water bottle for my tummy so remember that! It would have helped so much with soreness. Bring some comfy pants so you can walk without flashing everyone like I did for he first day I hope all goes well for you!

    I Have Been Sleeved!

Hey everyone! I am feeling much better today! Just trying to get used to this funny gurgling that happens every time I drink something! I haven't had to much trouble keeping anything down or getting in my Water yet. I know I said I would post a video, but I can't seem to find the time! Trish got me a pedicure yesterday and today I am going to Rosarito and Ensenada to walk around the markets. Thanks everyone for all the support!
  5. I think yes, but I am not 100% sure. Also, I feel a part of the pre-op is to get the patient ready for life with the sleeve. For the first few weeks food intake is verrrrrryyyy limited. Some people still have head hunger/real hunger and must resist. So I think it is important to get someone mentally ready.

    Extra Oily Skin Post-Op

Kayte, I have tried the positively radiant, but I am too oily for it. It might work well for you. I am currently using their Active Naturals moisturizer and I like it a lot.

    Extra Oily Skin Post-Op

Kayte, have you tried Aveeno products? They are pretty pricey, but have never made my ultra acne prone sensitive break out!

    Extra Oily Skin Post-Op

Oh this sucks!! I have majorly oily skin already, I live in a humid area and work in a kitchen so by the end of the day I look like a melted pot of oil I hope this doesn't get too bad!
  11. I wish, today I have finals. My surgery is tomorrow! So close!
  12. Hair loss is not only due to the nutrition aspect. Many people lose hair for months after other surgeries. It is a common side affect from anesthesia and stress on the body.
  13. I can't wait for this. My first year in college, last year, I was embarrassed because I had to use a beach towel to cover all my bits as I walked to and from the shower room. It was such a small thing but meant so much to me! I am very excited to be in a normal towel.

    Diet Pills

I would be wary of diet pills, a lot of them contain caffeine which most docs say is a no-no for quite some time! On the HCG note, I too am cautious to use something like that. I think I would try something more natural first. Injectables freak me out a little bit!

    Nectar Caribbean Cooler...yes!

I liked it lol But then again, I have had Muscle Milk and way worse protein shakes before. Nectar and Unjury are probably the best tasting ones I have ever had.
  16. Don't take ephedrine! It is really harmful. My aunt was hooked on it and ended up with an enlarged heart because of it. She also developed liver issues from prolonged use and now needs a transplant.

    Nectar Caribbean Cooler...yes!

You can buy them from mybariatricpantry.com I put way more Water than it says, like 18oz and it makes it into a nice light drink that I can sip on for a long time.
  18. I want a white summer dress! Made of cotton or linen with little lace-like details. I have always wanted one! But I look like a marshmallow in one now!

Gaining On The Pre Op Diet!?

I too am doing a pre-op diet, although mine is mainly shakes, yogurt and cottage cheese with a little lean meat for dinner. I am doing it by choice, my doc requires 3 days yogurt and that's it. I have gained a two pounds in the past 4 days! I am hoping it is some sort of Water retention! I feel super sluggish too so I may just wait until 3 days before and do the yogurt one. I was just excited to lose weight like everyone else!

    The Elephant In The Room....

The way people treat larger people is terrible! In college no one has the decency to be "polite" about it and not tell you something. Two recent occasions really bummed me out. I was in a restaurant getting a to-go order for me and a friend when some skinny girls came in and made a comment that I shouldn't be eating so much unless I wanted to get even bigger and more gross. I was humiliated and left the food there and took off. Another, I work at a dining common and was busing tables when some college guys were talking about how any girl with big breasts is attractive and they looked over at me and one said, "Any one but fatties like the busser! Boobs don't make up for rolls." It was so awful. I don't get why people treat overweight people like we are less than.

    Too Young For Surgery?

I am 20 as well and am scheduled for surgery next week. I know quite a few people my age that have had this done and all are very happy with their decision. I would rather do this now and not wait until I got any bigger.

    Nightgown Or Housedress?

Oh crap. I just bought a nightgown. Which was weird for me to do. It is a T-shirt one. I wonder if I should go back and get something else now!

    Your Over Weight Friends?

I was worried about this a lot. I have a friend who is currently abroad in Ghana and she knows about the surgery. Before she left we didn't talk much about it, but now we do. We write letters every week and she has shared that she is jealous and trying to lose weight too now. It makes me sad that she feels this way, but I get it. We both took comfort that we were bigger together. It is very hard being large at UCSB. Everyone here is so skinny! I told her that no matter what, we will still have our string relationship. I am hoping she comes around and will feel comfortable with it soon!

    Driver's License

I was just thinking about this! Mine says I weigh 180 pounds, which was only 10 pounds under when I got it 3ish years ago haha.
  25. Hey everyone! So I had a question about pain medications in/from Mexico. For those of you that had your surgery in Mx did your doc give you a prescription to pick up pain medication there? What about acid reducers? I am a student so I don't really have a PCP, I just have emergency care and spontaneous appointments at student health care. So I don't have any one here to get medication from. Or even remotely cheap. My copay is125 for all prescriptions : Thanks!
