Free Tummy Tuck At Burn Unit
mesaucedo replied to mesaucedo's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Yes, in the US. No more updates, she is healing nicely. I haven't really looked into this for myself. I have quite some time before I will be surgery ready! -
I laid on in the second night in the hospital, I just had to be careful because of the drain.

I was sleeved March 22nd

I am with you on today being a free for all lol I was driving all day, 8 hours home, and didn't plan well. I stopped at McD's (Oh NO!) and got a grilled snack wrap and some fries. It took about 3 hours to eat, and I felt like I had cheated, but it is nothing compared to what I would have eaten before.

Dr Ponce De Leon June 15

I already had mine done by him in March and loved him and his staff! If you need any info or have any questions, just ask! -
I had depo, not mirena I know, and I had actually stopped 3 month's before surgery to kind of purge my system. Well I didn't get a period at all, I even waited for another 3 months before getting my shot again. I have heard some people who had their period with depo so it might just depend on your body.

I just eat ice cream lol I eat only about 1/5 cup and it fixes my craving. I chose this surgery to still enjoy all foods. I guess you can buy some pre-packaged fro-yo. I have seen pints and what not or sorbet, if you don't want to eat the real thing.

New Guy From San Diego!
mesaucedo replied to mocmylov's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey! Welcome As some others said, I wouldn't worry too much about Protein now. Focus on fluids and making sure that you are hydrated! The first few weeks are when people have to go back in to the hospital from dehydration. Keep us posted! -
Meat Meat Meat
mesaucedo replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to agree! I think it is normal for us! My go to meal or snack is thick carved turkey deli meat. I love it -
Has Anyone Experience Hair Loss With The Sleeve
mesaucedo replied to Rosikah's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
From what I have seen/heard almost EVERYONE loses some hair. I tried to "beef up" my hair before the surgery and am taking GNC's beBeautiful supplements now with some added biotin. -
Bariatric Humor - Laugh To Keep From Crying!
mesaucedo replied to shelleyrn22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This reminds me of something I tell my friends all the time here at UCSB. Everyone says they are afraid to walk alone at night and I always say, "Look at me, I am twice as big as all the guys that go here!" -- most of the boys here are shorter and thinner like surfer guys. -
Boobs - Implants Without A Lift?
mesaucedo replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
My mom lost about 40 pounds that she had gained during the stay at home mom period and decided to get implants when she saw her boobs disappear. She had small saggy-ish bag looking things for boobs and she just got nice big B/small C implants put in (she is only 5 feet tall and weighs around 102 pounds now) and they look great. They still have a little natural sag, which I think is ok for her -- she is 42 -- put they are perky enough to where she doesn't need a bra with a halter top or something. Longish story short : So it can be done! -
Oh I also wanted to add that I go to parties, I hang out with friends and what not and have never had it interfere. My life is exactly the same except for my tummy and what I eat.

I am ending my sophomore year at UCSB and had my surgery during our 1 week spring break. No problems at all. I work 28ish hours a week at a dining common on campus and take 21 units. I haven't had any trouble managing at all. I just bring Snacks to long classes, in the beginning shakes, and remember to drink Water constantly! I also bike to campus and back (about 30 mins total) and started doing that about 9 days after surgery. You gals will do fine!

Have I Messed Up Too Bad?
mesaucedo replied to Luwanna's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have heard of people not even following their pre-op diet at all and being cleared for surgery, not that I would EVER recommend anyone doing that! So I am going to say you are probably fine. The diets vary so much and the whole point is to shrink the liver which can be achieved by reducing calorie intake and carb intake. I am sure you will be fine! Don't worry too much and focus on the future and following it from now on! -
Has Anyone Tried Isopure Protein Water
mesaucedo replied to dianac29045's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Biotin is supposed to help with hair growth. It has mixed reviews from people on here. -
For just breasts? It would be a lift -- take what you have and make it perkier -- or an augmentation -- put in implants. Most people do a combination of the two. You would be surprised at how nice small saggy boobies can look with a good lift and no implant.

So I Got Sick..... My Doc Says It Is Because Of Too Little Calories
mesaucedo replied to mesaucedo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just to clarify, dehydration was a side effect of my illness, I couldn't keep anything down and stopped trying to drink Water for fear of vomiting. I too have read that low calorie diets lengthen lifetimes and increase immune system function, but these were 1500 calorie diets which would be low for normal people. I did read something recently where too low calorie of a diet can actually hurt your body's chances of fighting off infections or viruses. But nothing really about preventing them in the first place. I have some yummy hot and sour Soup now that cleared up my nose nicely! -
So I Got Sick..... My Doc Says It Is Because Of Too Little Calories
mesaucedo posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey everyone! I am sick, oh so sick. I have the terrible flu and ended up going to the hospital last night because I was so dehydrated. They hooked me up to an IV and pumped me so full with sodium chloride that I gained weight! Anywho, my doc said the reason I am getting sick is because I am not eating enough calories. He said I need 1200 to 1400 to keep my immune system healthy and I am averaging around 700 to 800 now. Has anyone else heard this? I am taking my Vitamins, supplements, getting in almost all my Protein and Water in (except for this week) and still got super sick. We are talking crazy vomiting every ten minutes sick. So I was wondering if maybe their is some truth behind what my doc said. -
Did You Or Are You Keeping Your Sleeve A Secret?
mesaucedo replied to letsdothis!!!'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Tons of people on here have kept their surgery a secret. I chose not to, I told everyone -- my coworkers, friends, family, strangers -- I felt that I was comfortable enough with this that I didn't care what people thought. So far I haven't had any negativity, just tons of support. I have even had a few people who are going to check it out and see if they want to have it too! Whatever you chose to do is a deeply personal decision and depends on your comfortableness with letting people know your personal affairs. -
I was never told anything about fruit, except bananas because they can clump together. II have eaten fruit from about 3 weeks out and haven't had any trouble with them. The best for me are melons, they feel nice on Hamilton (my sleeve).

I was working out today, juts doing one of Leslie Sanson's videos and using my HRM to see how much I burned, when I started to wonder about how my body will change. I started surfing Pinterest for some fitness tips and saw all these photos of gals with amazing abs. Will I ever have them? I have kind of come to terms with the fact that I will never wear a bikini (too many stretch marks! Damn you Latin skin!) but it would be nice to have a 6 pack even if it was covered with a few marks. Has anyone who has been sleeved ever gotten to be so tight that they look like that? I am crazy to hope that someday I can have them?
