  1. where do you get all the cute weight loss tickers at the bottom of your messages?

  2. Thank you all for your responses! This helps me so much.
  3. I have a few months until my surgery. I'm doing all the reading I can about VSG. This forum is FANTASTIC! I have learned so much and I appreciate everyone of you who have given advise. I feel so much better going into this with complete knowledge. I do have a few questions. I have been told that it is much harder to gain weight back after a VSG because the part of the stomach that is left, is much tougher than the part that is removed -- in other words, it doesn't stretch as well. Is this fact? The other question -- well, it's more of a comment. I've told a few people about my venture and I keep getting comments about how I don't have that much weight to lose along with a look of "you've got to be kidding" me. I have 95 lbs to lose. It makes me a bit embarrassed and I know I shouldn't feel this way. Anywho, I'm sure other people have had the same problem. Thanks for reading!
  4. Wow! It's good to know I'm not the only one that is feeling like you! I see a counselor who had a gastric bypass 10 years ago and when I told her my concerns about being that 2% that might die during surgery, she said that I take a risk every day when I get in my car or when I cross the street on foot. I never looked at it like that. That helped me to make the decision -- I plan on having the surgery in a couple of months. Good luck!!

I still have a few months before my surgery. I can't wait to clean my closet and hear those comments! Great job!

    My Decision

I'm in a similar situation as Sleeveme81 and I've decided to only include a couple of people. I find that people are negative sometimes, because they are uninformed. But my concern is when I finally get the surgery. What do you tell people -- especially when you're losing the weight fast?? I hate to lie but I really don't want to hear all the negatives! Thanks!

    Loosing Hope

Wow, your plate has been full! I started the process last April. I approached my insurance company and they said I had to go through 12 months of weight loss counseling. So twice a month I talk to a lady on the phone. I will be released by May 2, 2012 and I'm trying to schedule my surgery for July as that is the only time I can take off a couple of weeks (I work for a university and the faculty are gone at that time). I'm wondering if you could just show up to the Dr.'s office and say that you will wait for the paperwork you need explaining that you only have a few weeks left in this year (for what it's worth). I have also faced negativity when telling friends. It's almost like they are jealous but some just don't understand how I've lived for the past 25 years. I've decided not to tell anyone else! I will pray for you and follow your posts to check in on you. The people on this site really do care about each other. God Bless, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
  8. Dear MissE I am new to this website and I still have 5 months to go for my 12 month pre-surgery weight management counseling that my insurance requires. I have butterflies just thinking about when the time comes for me so I know you must be anxious, happy, hopeful, etc.! I feel for you and you are also in my prayers. I plan on having my surgery in July. I will follow your progress and check in on you! Congratulations to a new chapter in your life, and Happy Holidays!!!
