After struggling with my weight pretty much all my life, attempting multiple diets each year, I have decided to pursue lap band. 3 years ago I was looking into it because after the birth of my first son I was hovering around 200lbs. On a 4ft 10in frame, that is a lot of weight!! My PCP thought that lap band sounded great for me and he was about to refer me to a surgeon and then i found out my insurance would not cover the surgery. I could not afford to pay out of pocket. So it was out of the question. I still had diabetes to worry about not to mention the MANY other heath issues I deal with day to day. So I started tracking calories and working out. I discovered that in order to lose weight I had to eat less than 1000 calories a day. This is extremely difficult to stick with day to day. I lost about 25 lbs and then became pregnant with my second son. I delivered him 4/2010 weighing 215lbs. Since then I have been struggling to lose the weight. I tried slim fast, Atkins, and back to Sparkpeople and My Fitness Pal to track my calories. At the beginning of the year I did great eating around 900 calories a day and riding my stationary bike. I lost 40lbs and like always 900 cal is difficult to stick with so the weight has been coming back on.

So here I am... My husbands employer provides 3 different insurance options so I was able to switch to a plan that will cover 90% of my surgery.. if I am approved. The seminar I will be attending is 1/12/12 and I am doing my best to become as educated as I can be regarding lap band so I know I am making the right decision.

I am so excited to start this process and start to regain control of my health.
