Hi Maryland Bandsters,
I have found that my awareness now is in full swing to get healthy and fit! I am really excited about being banded in September and my new life ahead of me! I have found this journey getting easier now that I have applied the healthy techniques since January to get ready for this lapband procedure. Next month in July I will start to decrease my portion size again so this will get me in the mindset and learning behavior to not over eat or stretch out my band. Of course I am paying attention of my bites and chew each bite 25 times before I swallow.
I have experienced that the food portions/quanity will do a number on your weight loss journey and will reduce "progress". I have had alot of sucess this last week to use my small plate and use my "measurements by the scale" or my containers that meassure out the quanity of food that I eat.
It's a constant learning experience to make healthier and smart choices in your daily life. Eating more frequently 4 small meals was a challenge. To limit my carbs and eat smaller meals (4) Rule is my mindset now in the grocery store when I pick up a product is FIRST looking at the ingredients and Calories then Sugar AND Fat.
1) Calories
2) Sugar
3) Fat
Hey Mara, I will be banded in September too! I am using this time to get prepared in the mindset and cut down on my carbs "which were my favorite food group" but now 6 months later and 1/2 cup rule it's alot better.
Good luck on your WL journey!
Annette
Actually what I do is buy a packet of ground turkey and cook it up in 4 ounce burgers then put in freezer bags. I usually do this for the week for my planned lunches. If I buy chicken breast for the week so I also cook the batch up for the week and freeze in freezer lock baggies. I also get can tuna for my fish days. I buy veggies and put them in little containers and then I buy a bag of lettuce mix. For fruit smoothies you can freeze the fruit in freezer bags too. I also make my own soup this way for an alternate for lunch.
I am so sorry that your insurance company denied your request. Yes, yeast infections are most due to warm most areas and certain areas not being able to be kept dry. Unfortunally- not many insurance companies do request this kind of surgery. This is the "nasty part of the end result of WLS which depending on the amount of weight that you loose and skin tigor exactly how much loose skin a person will have. I am at the begininng of my journey and my doctor advised me of this and warned me that any amount of weight loss + 80 lbs could result of sagging skin and she also indicated that "warning" "most insurance companies do not cover abdominal tucks or lipo suction. If you view most pictures of people who have lost a significant amount of weight -usually sagging skin happens. Good luck.
