    January 2012 Sleevers!

that's great...keep your good attitude, do the breathing exercises and try to walk as much as possible...bed hospitals are uncomfortable, that's why you are probably sore.

    January 2012 Sleevers!

be careful with the sodium intake...you might retain water...are you using the low sodium broth? My dr. also said that egg drop soup is allowed and I had some when I felt I needed something more "solid" good luck, Ela
  5. Finally the first day when I didn't sleep in the afternoon...I just had to lay down and rest a little bit. I took my daughter to see the Russian Ballet, they danced "Romeo and Juliette" and it was beautiful...managed to drink one more shake during the show, so I am officially up to 3 shakes per day. I woke up feeling my little wounds very itchy and it looks like the glus is coming off...anyone went thru this faze? I am going to try to wash it off )) I hope everyone has a great weekend, lots to do...my husband is going out of town for a week :banghead: and I just start another quarter in my MBA, I work now full time and we will have dance, ballet and karate this week...keep me in your prayers!!! Planning to cook dinner for the kids for the whole week, between tomorrow and Monday, that way I am set. Ela

Good luck...I am almoste 2 weeks after surgery and doing great...been working all last week, and been doing light cleaning, laundry and all that...the only thing I can say is that I am exhausted in the afternoon and have been sleeping A LOT...no pain medicine, not even Tylenol...good luck and start walking as soon as you can after the surgery and as much as you can! Ela

I still feel tired by mid afternoon and I have been sleeping A LOT this week...I am trying to get in my shakes...most I was able to so far was 2 of them )...but I am learning to sip sip sip that water throughout the day. I am loosing weight and that makes me happy and as you suggested I start walking in my lunch break for about 30 minutes and my plan was to do another 30 minutes in the evening, but I have been sleeping my afternoons ) I am so happy to have find ya'll and make new friends!!! Have a great weekend, Ela
  8. Lillypad68, my doctor said that if drinking while eating the food will transition faster into the small intestine. He wants me to eat the Protein first then the veggies with no Water for 1 hour from the time I start eating.
  9. Hello everyone, I am one week post up and really need a support group to guide me thru this wonderful adventure. I am "learning" my new limits and still on the liquid diet after op...when did everyone start exercising? Biggest struggle right now is to drink 64oz of fluids between my shakes and Water... Any ideas, advices for a "beginner"? I am so excited about 2012! Ela

    January 2012 Sleevers!

Office work...desk job...one week you will be good to go. I was on morphine for the first day, pain killers second day and then only tylenol twice a day. Do your liquid diet, be strict with that, walk as soon as you can after surgery and as much as possible second day and you will be good to go by the 4th day...a little bit tired, but managable. Good luck! Ela

    January 2012 Sleevers!

Hello Everyone, I just had my surgery on January 3rd. Excellent experience in the hospital, don't remember too much the first day since I was drugged ) they checked vitals EVERY hour, so I felt very tired, second day was great no pain killers, took all the IV's off (except one) and third day I went home. I feel excellent, already back at work, a little bit tired, but cannot complain. Eating after surgery was a bit weird and I am still working on learning to eat very slow )) Between my pre op 2 weeks liquid diet and since home I already lost almost 20 pounds (19.4)...it looks like a pound per day. I am not hungry at all and it seems like a get full with nothing...this morning I felt full by the time I took my vitamins, calcium, pepcid and my meds with a little bit of mils and 2 little spoons of sugar free pudding. My dr. still wants me on a liquid diet for 2 weeks post op. Good luck everyone! Ela
  14. you will...make sure you stick with the pre op diet and walk as soon as you wake up the day of the surgery to move the air (gas)...that's the most important part of no pain...My actual stiches are so small (6 of them) and don't hurt at all, nor any inside pain...good luck
  15. Hello Ladies, I just had my surgery on January 3rd. 16. Not sure how much I will be able to rest in the hospital...read lots of blogs and it seems like someone is always in your room to check on you I am sure I will feel much better when I get home, but I will have my laptop and kindle and phone ...so I will try to keep myself busy
  17. Danielle, how long it took you to recover from the surgery...I am trying to see how long I will have to be out of work
  18. Congratulations and good luck!!!! How long are you staying in the hospital. I am told I have to stay 3 days.
  19. Mine is tomorrow...cannot wait!!!! Liquid diet is been ok so far )) What were your favorite shakes? I tried the EAS and the Slim Fast low carb...not bad. Sugar Free Gelo, some Gatorade 0 and I need to make some chicken broth...
  20. I got my clearance as well!!! Surgery date is 12/28/2011 or 1/3/12, depending on the hospital if they can fit me in...so I just start today my liquid diet )) This should be interesting ))
  21. I just start my liquid diet today, so far so goo, tomorrow I have my Pre-Op Educational Class and Wed. my Exercise class. Tentative surgery date is Dec. 28 if they can squeeze me in if not Jan 3rd. I understand that one of the insurance companies is cancelling their benefits for WLS, so my doctor is trying to fit in everyone with this insurance...and I totally understand that, so I will be patient...only thing is that I might end up being for 3 weeks on the liquid diet pre-op ) Small sacrifice I am so excited reading everyone's journey, I am learning what I need in the hospital and what to expect after the surgery...I am trying to take as little time off from work and I am in grad school online, and don't want to miss out a quarter....busy mom ))
  22. Hello Liz...I know exactly what you are talking about...I feel just the same On the bright side, I got my acceptance letter Yesterday!!!!! WOO-HOOO... and hoping to be able to have the surgery on the 28th if not January 3rd. One of the insurance companies is dropping bariatric surgeries as a benefit, so my dr. is trying to take care of all his patients with that insurance...so I am starting my liquid diet next Monday and hope for the 28th...if not January 3rd for sure...too excited!!! Ela
  23. @jasleeve! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am still waiting to hear from my insurance company. My file was sent last Monday (( Being patient it's almost impossible.
  24. Hello ladies, my name is Ela, I am 34 (almost 35), I have 6 year old twins and I am so ready to go thru this journey. I've been thin till I got pregnant when I gained a LOT of weight and struggled for the past 6 years to get rid off...I went thru all diets available, went to see hormone specialists, endocrinologists, I drove my doctor crazy until this year I start looking into the WLS. I start my process in September when I went to a local support group meeting and met the surgeon that will do my surgery and since then I worked on putting together all my paperwork, had to get clearances from the pulmonologist, cardiologist, psychologist, nutritionist, UGI, h pylori test and finally last week my doctor cleared my file and sent it to the insurance company...so I've been touching basis with them and hopefully they will approve my request. I have BCBS of AL...Next week I have my pre op meeting and meeting with a personal trainer...it's been a long journey and hopefully my surgery will be scheduled on the 27th of December. Good luck everyone, Ela
