Waking Up During Surg????
Kflower84 replied to kwood803's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first surgery gallbladder removal was 11/18/11. My anesthesiologist was young, cute and very friendly. Last thing I remember was talking to him in the OR room while he was inserting the IV, then the nurses started covering me with lots of blankets and the thought in my head why are they covering me if am ready for surgery?? Next thing I woke up in the recovery room with my friendly nurse Marlin. My Lapband surgery was on 12/9/11 and the process was very different. The anesthesiologist was old and quite frankly I don't remember much of him.The only thing I remember was having the IV inserted in my forearm, where it hurts the most. -
Hello everyone! I need an easy recipe for scallops. I've never cooked scallops before, but today I picked a bag at the supermarket and noticed they are full of Protein. I had them before at restaurants but have no idea what to do with them. There is a recipe in the back of the bag but it's for fried scallops in garlic sauce. Im looking for something a little bit healthier. I emphasize on easy because I am not much of a cooking person. Thanks you all !! * I also have a bag of cooked shrimp. Any ideas ?????????

I'll try that, thanks!!

Like the other posts said, take it easy its only been 3 days. You'll get better. I used to get horrible stomach cramps post op always around 1am to 5am.... why not during the day? I asked myself. Anyways, the only thing that help me was drinking something warm. One of the reasons you are feeling full might be that you're not drinking the way you are supposed to. My surgeon said I had to sip 4 oz every hour sip 1 oz every 15 min. if you gulp everything down at once you'll experience that feeling of fullness I hope I was of help ... Good luck!

I don't like it much so I only use it in smoothies. Im gonna try some of the ideas here. The spinach dip sounds yummy!!

Sorry to hear that your primary doctor acted that way. I work at a primary doctor's office and when I started researching about my surgery he was very supportive. He told me everything he knew about it and assured me the risks were minimal. He's not my primary doctor but my doctor supported my decision as well.

Ugh Tired Of Sounding Like A Nag!!
Kflower84 replied to misseyb73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started introducing my husband to healthy things little by little. I started a while ago with milk. I used to buy (2) gallons 1- whole milk for him and 1 -1% or skim for me. Now I just buy the 1%. It's funny because the other day I asked him to bring a gallon of milk and he picked 2% by mistake and we were both like this milk taste funny, too strong or something.... Then it was sugar. I buy Splenda Sugar Blend and he loves it. Better than regular sugar. I buy the sugar free fat free vanilla ice cream and he doesn't even notice the difference. Pasta- I purchased the whole wheat before but not even I could eat it so I picked a box of this new brand of spaguettis called Ronzoni Smart Taste with 2.5x more Fiber that the regular one but without the cardboard taste. I buy low sodium Beans, reduced or fat free cheese, organic eggs, turkey hot dogs, turkey bacon, turkey ground meat and so far he hasn't complained. Actually, one day he did say something about the ground beef not tasting the same and I said thats because its turkey meat you been eating lately...lol -
My nutricionist said around 120g of carbs a day is what is required for optimum brain function.

I was banded 12/9/11 and I have lost 50 lbs so far ... -
My doctor had me 1 week liquids and 1 week mushy. On my mushy phase I had cream of wheat, greek yogurt smoothies, mashed potatoes, apple sauce, puree butternut squash, carrots and my favorite of all split pea soup.

So How Honest Were You....
Kflower84 replied to Riker990's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Only my family knows and my boss obviuosly, since I had to do 2 separate surgeries one in 11/18/11 for my gallbladder removal and my lap band 3 weeks later on 12/9/11. I've told some people at work that I know they been thru the same but sometimes I have to lie to other people. I feel so bad having to lie. I had someone the other day that I have not seen in a while and when she saw me she was like omg you've lost so much weight! What are you doing and she looked me in the eye and was like tell me please! is it diet ? exercise? I didnt know what to say. I said high Protein diet. And then she started asking me but what exactly you eat and so on ... Thank god there was nodoby else in the office -
Has Anyone Ever Over Eaten
Kflower84 replied to Bamabander's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I admit it. I've done it. Eat more than supposed to. Maybe at a party or simply Ive forgotten. Everyone is different but I don't get nauseus or stomach pain, just the guilt killing me inside. I want to throw up, but that's worst than eating a lot. So I tell myself, I won't do it again. food is not priority in my life. -
I have the Health o Meter Oil Rubbed Bronze scale from Walmart. Costs ~ $30. Internal memory for 2 stores the last weight and it will show you how much you got down or up. It does shows different readings on different areas of my bathroom tile but after owning it for about 6 months I know the trick. I weight first on the bare floor and then I put the scale on top of the rug. I go with the smaller number. It weights 2-3 pound less than my doctor's office because I usually weight myself wthout cloths.

Hello everyone! I too have the realize band. I was banded 12/9/11 and so far I have lost 50 lbs. I don't know exactly how many cc's I have but I'll find out tomorrow when I go for an adjustment. No complications so far (knock on wood). Only a few episodes of chest pain that might be related to not chewing properly, eating too fast, or a combination of both. I'll see my nutricionist today so I can get all my questions answered. Have a great day everyone !!
