In Need Of A Buddy, No Support At Home
Kflower84 replied to MissE44's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I understand what you are going thru. I was banded 12/09/11. When I initially told my mom and husband I was getting banded they both try to convince me that I was taking the easy way out and that I hadn't try hard enough to lose weight. My mother would call me every day with something new that I should try before going for the knife. Now after 8 months post op and 55+ pounds lost I am so happy with the decision I took and glad I didn't let anyone keep me from persuing my goal of being healthy. -

Five Fills Later, I'm At My Green Zone....i Think...
Kflower84 replied to ClaudiaG's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgeon said that the band around the stoma is like a ring if you loose weight its gonna start being a little loose around the stoma. That's when you need to go back for a fill. Just listen to your body. If you are eating 4 oz 3 x a day with 2- 2oz snacks and you are still hungry then its time for a fill. Some Drs only want the 3 small meals a day, no snacks in between. I think we are all different with very different lifestyles if a snack is something that works for you why starve yourself. Try to keep them to a max of 2oz or 200 calories. -
Mushy Food Suggestions???
Kflower84 replied to TriciaLN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeons office would not allow us scramble eggs. So this is what I had on my mushy phase. For Breakfast I would have: cream of wheat (farina), oatmeal, yogurt, small curd cottage cheese, lunch or dinner : mashed potato, mashed butternut squash, mashed carrots, refried Beans with dairy cream and shredded cheese Snacks: sugar free pudding, natural applesauce, etc. Good luck on this new mushy phase. It will be over before you know it. -
I have always loved taking pics but now more that ever...

OMG such a relief to know I am not the only one that didn't see how fat I am/was ...I would look in the mirror and see a beautiful person !
-
I agree with what you are saying. When those pictures were taken I thought I look good. But now I go back and see those pics and I think how come nobody told me I needed to loose weight. Idk if it was high selfsteem but I always thought I looked good in pics. ( The ones that I took of myself I should say)

Greetings And Finally A Group That Will Have Me And Am Glad To Be Part Of!
Kflower84 replied to Winsane's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Your portion choices are as important as your food choices. I remember when I went to the seminar the speaker said "you can not expected to loose weight eating oreos and ice cream for dinner." I think that was so funny because it had crossed my mind that I could eat anything as long as it was small portions. Sometimes its hard to change old habits. Portion control is a problem for me mostly at dinner time and I encounter that more often if Im eating out. I think my problem is that by the time dinner comes am starving due to the fact that I eat very little during the day. So I eat til my belly hurts (like Ilene said). I wish I didn't do that, I dont want to stretch my pouch.... -
Surgeon Doesn't To Want To Accept My Insurance
Kflower84 replied to fire_bellydancer's topic in Insurance & Financing
You are right NO surgeon would want to touch you if they didn't perform the surgery. I would suggest to call your insurance and find out what the process is to submit a claim so you can get reimbursed after self pay. Request that your fill is a little larger than they usually give you so that you don't have to go in as often. Good Luck with everything!! -
I understand what you are going thru sometimes its hard for me to get the recommended amount of liquids. My problem is when I drink I have to rush to the bathroom and since I work in an office I can't leave the front desk unnatended plus the damn phone starts ringing the minute I step into the bathroom. One thing I do is to always have a bottle on my desk and my purse so I can remind myself to drink it. I add crystal light iced tea or diet snapple green tea packets to my Water to make it more flavorfull. Hope you feel better soon and drink your liquids!!!
-
That is my worst fear stretching my pouch. I admit I don't always measure my food, but I stop when Im full. Sometimes Im too full I can't even drink Water. I have to stick to measuring I really don't want to strech my pouch.

I continue to drink coffee in the morning with 1% milk and splenda sugar blend. Sometimes if I dont have milk I put french vanilla or hazelnut coffeemate powder.
