My doctor said that with VSG our restriction changes after 18 months so you need to lose before 18 months. -

Why not ask your doctor or NUT for the info you want to see then? -

I am getting my info from my doctor and my NUT. Your metabolism changes dramatically after you have this surgery. Protein boosts your metabolism. You will see that as you progress and when you have your checkups and he measures your body fat, BMI, muscle mass, etc. Your body cannot consume high caloric foods like it used to. You will make yourself sick if you do that. You are now eating the right foods and can only eat a few ounces at a time. You are not even far enough out to worry about counting any calories. When you are put on solid and regular foods, then your doctor and NUT should guide you based on your specific numbers I only counted calories for a few months on My Fitness Pal, then I stopped cuz I did't want to have to feel like I was on a diet. It becomes a new way of life for you. I never had to worry about going over my calories cuz I knew I wasn't eating anything I shouldn't, and I knew I cold only eat a few ounces of whatever I chose to eat. But i was always told, as many others on here have, as long as you are losing definitely do not go over 1,000 calories a day. If you are that concerned, maybe you should call our doctor or NUT and ask., but I am sure they will also tell you not to worry about it this soon. They will be more concerned with ow your stomach is healing at this point. Don't forget that 85% of your stomach is gone! -

Anorexics have a normal size stomach. People who have been sleeved have had 85% of their stomach removed. So you are not even comparing apples to apples! -

SleeveDreamer replied to AdiosPlusSizes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
600-800 calories is not too low when you have recently been sleeved. Remember you can only eat about 8 oz. at a time at the most, and most of it is protein. And if you're not that far out, you are lucky if you can eat 4-6 oz. at a time. You will no longer be consuming high caloric foods such as "junk!" I am 15 months out and at my goal and And I should have atleast 1,200 per day to maintain, and I can't even get close. I still can only eat 8 oz. at a time. As long as you are taking ur vitamins daily and eating the right foods now, you will not get anorexic! -

While you are still losing you need to stay around 600-800. Not 1,000-1,200 until you maintain. I am 15 months out and still can't even get close to 1200 a day to maintain. -

Please be careful of your stomach staple line though. It wakes twelve weeks for that to heal. Bread will swell and possibly damage your staple line. Same with pasta and rice.I wasn't allowed those things til 12 weeks. -
When Did You Eat Pizza?
SleeveDreamer replied to Lollyx3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Actually alot of people eat pizza with a fork and so can you and just eat the protein and stuff off the top if you want. Who cares what they think! You will be full in no time and no bad carbs. -

I agree! If you want the pizza taste, make some won ton pizza cups from emilybites.com with some pizza sauce, turkey pepperoni, mushrooms or ground meat, and shredded mozzarella and that will satisfy your craving. Carbs are not your friend at this point. I am 18 months out and never counted calories but I certainly have always counted my carbs. -
Premier Protein Shakes at Sam's Club, ?
SleeveDreamer replied to Mel1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could NEVER stand any powdered ones either. I bought so much of them before my surgery to make sure I had them and ended up throwing them all away. The same with the Unjury powdered chicken broth! YUK! I wasted money on that can big time. In the trash it went and I went to Wylers Reduced Sodium chicken boullion cubes and lived on that instead! -

No they have Lean Body, Pure Protein, and Muscle Milk at my WalAmart. I use the Lean Body ones simply because the other taste too sweet to me and these don't have any sugar. Muscle Milk also are good choices also have at costco but taste way too sweet for me. Oh YUeah makes good ones too but only available at Vitamin SWhoppe and places like that i think. -

I used the premier shaked from Costco. I hated the powdered kind so always stuck with RTD. I now buy the Lean Body ones from WalMart (4 to a package mainly because they do not have any sugar. I do not have room to keep that big package from sam's or Costco. I am 18 months out and still drink 2 Lean body a day. The more protein, the better for your metabolism and your hunger pangs. -

Feeling hungry?10 day post op!is it only me!?
SleeveDreamer replied to newmallika's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only had about 55 lbs. to lose, but I have lost 70 and I am done losing. I had a horrible esophagus issue and problem that was repaired at the time of my sleeve. All of my weight was basically in my abdomen since 1/3 of my stomnach had protruded through my diaphragm. I was a mess. I went to the doctor just today for my 18 month checkup. my doctor is so happy with me. I have finally started to exercise to tone up about two weeks ago ( I hate to exercise). Remember when you start to do that, you may not lose pounds since the fat is turning to muscle. My fat % has gone down from 54% to 26% and I have gone from a size 18 jeans to a size 2. I have lost 14 inches in my waist. Please don't get discouraged, you will lose, but it doesn't happen overnight. You will not lose a pound or two everyday. I weigh myself everyday and i always have and always will, but not necessary. Whenever we go out to eat i have a white russian or a glass of white zin before my food comes. No problems. I never order too much. I know my limits. If I want clam chowder and a shrimp cocktail for example, I eat my shrimp cocktail first and a few spoons of the chowder then give the rest to my husband. I usually keep my meat portion to about 4-6 oz, then eat veggies or salad (but not all cuz I am usually getting full off the meat. I eat more red meat and pork now than I ever did. Don't like chicken anymore really. Not moist enough. But I have been very successful and you will be too. Just take it one day at a time. See before and after pic on my profile page. -

Try taling a pepcid every day. that helps with head hunger. Also have a rtd protein drink in the morning and the afternoon. that should help fill you up. I am 18 months out and still do that if i feel hungrier than usual. -

I try to stay away from any bread or carbs like that. Protein is my friend too. If I make pizza, I make it on a Mission Carb balance tortilla. -

I had pizza at 12 weeks when i was allowed bread. My NUT sayds it is a great thing for us to eat, cuz we get proteins, veggies and starches. Naturally, stick to one piece (not huge either), and don't eat the outer crust (You can eat the crust underneath, the flkat part) -

Gastric Sleeve Experts... Please Chime In!
SleeveDreamer replied to lillita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I certainly don't imply that it is bad to track calories, if that is your thing. However, some people obsess so much about the calories, they just completely stress out and if they eat 20 more than they should, they think they are going to gain! Everyone is different as to what works for them. -
Gastric Sleeve Experts... Please Chime In!
SleeveDreamer replied to lillita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please don't obsess about it. there is no way you will eat like you did before. I am almost 15 months out and just have about five more pounds to get where I want to be, but I don't even think about it anymore as far as calories or pounds. I still cannot even get close to the number of calories I will need to maintain my weight! At first I kept track on MFP, and that is Ok while you are learning what you can or cannot eat, but then I thought to myself that this is not a diet, this is a new way of everyday eating. When I stopped that (MFP) and stopped even counting calories, I lost faster, because my mind was set and I knew what i can or cannot eat. I do watch my carbs though, and while I am still losing the 5 lbs. I try not to go over 30 g a day, and that is easy. but I know if I want to, I can and I will be OK. To maintain I can go up to 150 g per day, and I can't see that happening! I also watch my sugar and try to eat as litle sugar content as possible. Also, you must remember, don't freak out if you don't lose pounds once you get a little far out. You most likely are still losing inches and going down in sizes. The more you excercise, your fat is turing into muscle, so you may not be losing the pounds, but you are still being successful. You will not lose weight everyday. I weigh myself everyday, and always have, and always will, because I want to, but you should stay consistent for several days, then you may go down another pound or two and then you will stay consistent with that. Don't get impatient. You will get to your goal. Don't obsess and just start to enjoy your new life and don't worry about the calories and the word "diet". This is not a diet. You are finished with dieting! Good luck to all of you. LOVE my sleeve! -
Red Lobster is very good at accomodating you if you tell them you have had stomnach surgery. The wood fired trout is awesome too and you have enough left to take home and eat for three days! LOL! I used to be able to eat two dinners!
