I got some Unjury Chicken Broth powder yesterday at the dietician's office. It says not to use water over 130 degrees or it will affect the consistency. How do I know when the water is 130 degrees? i was going to use the hot water from my Keurig but that will definitely be too hot so how do you know?

22 Days And Dealing With The Ups And Downs
SleeveDreamer replied to 2bfit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Babigrl, I am so excited for you and just down PCH from you in San Clemente. My surgery is the 14th! Don't think about the pain. The last stomach surgery I had in 1999 had 6 incisions also, and I never had any pain or took any pain meds. Although I did mention to my doctor yesterday I was afraid of nausea and vomiting cuz I sometimes do that after anesthesia, but he assured me he would have liquid pain and nausea medicine in my IV. You will be sleepy and I am sure your doctor will give you the same type of liquid pain meds if you request it. Just don't be afraid to ask for them if you need them, but hopefully you won't. I am starting my preop liquids tomorrow! Good luck and praying for you. Janet -

Making Changes, Hi Gina, How do I add you as a friend? Janet

Making Changes: That is my favorite Bible verse too and I will definitely be praying for you and all the December sleevers. My date is Dec. 14th with Dr. Bhoyrul at Scripps Hospital in La Jolla. I have to have a huge hiatial hernia fixed at the same time. I had Nissen Fundiplication surgery for GERD in 1999 and that surgery has completely undone itself. I was never sore after that (had the same 6 laparoscopy incisions), and never any pain meds or problems. I am praying for all of us December sleevers! Janet

1st Post And Need Advice!
SleeveDreamer replied to luv-a-bull's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Luv-a bull, I have had two people including my best friend tell me horror stories about someone they know who have had lap band or weight loss surgery and they have nothing to say but bad about it. My repsonse to them is "Can't you support me in this and why would you even think about sharing stories like that before I have my surgery?" My docotrs both told me the only way I would lose this weight was to have it surgically removed. It is my opinion that alot of people have problems or issues because they push themselves, and maybe they go to someplace much cheaper and not get as good follow up care. I think with weight loss surgery you must have a dietician to work with. You just can't be handed a list that says week one eat..., week two eat..., week three eat..., etc. Everyone is different. These people don't know what's going on inside you, but your doctor does. I have to have a huge hiatail hernia fixed the first part of my surgery (1/3 of my stomach resting up on my chest canity). Only I know how miserable I am. They don't have a clue. Perhaps they are jealous cuz we will look better than them? LOL! Anyway just ignore them and tell them you don't want them messing with your mind cuz you need to be in a good place mentally for this procedure. You will prove them wrong anyway. Good luck! Mine is the 14th, so looking forward to going through the journey with you! Janet -
My dietician said that soup is considered eating. Drinking would be water, tea, crystal light, etc., but told me 30 minutes between each. So i guess it depends on the individual and like Lissa said, what type of soup it is.

Woo Hoo! One Third Of The Way To My Goal Weight!
SleeveDreamer replied to Lissa's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratulations Lissa! -
I am so excited to know that my sleeve surgery has been scheduled for Dec. 14th. Luckily I do not have but about 50 lbs. to lose, but 60% of my body weight is fat and it is all in my abdomen. I am always out of breath after walking or climbing stairs, and the doctor said the weight must go. I have very skinny legs, and the excess weight in my mid-section is killing me. I only have to be on the pre-op liquid diet for 5 days. I have a huge hiatal hernia (about 1/3 of my stomach) has protruded up onto my chest cavity. This was discovered when I had my upper GI last week to see what was going on in there, so he knew how to reverse the surgery i had in 1999. I had Nissen Fundiplication surgery to fix my horrible GERD in 1999. All these years I thought it was good, and now from the results of the GI, the previous surgery has completely undone itself. I started having reflux symptoms again a few months ago, but thought I was crazy. It must be fixed! The connectors from that surgery are kind of floating around on my stomach! EEK! I had already planned on the sleeve, but my insurance would not cover it since my BMI was 3 points off! However it will pay for the entire amounts of the first hour of the surgery which will be to repair the hiatal hernia and get my stomach back down where it belongs. So I freaked out and called the hospital to set up a payment plan for the uninsured part, and then after I found out how much I needed down and including the doctor's part, got on Care Credit and applied, and instantly had enough to pay for the doctor and down payment for the hospital. I have watched the sleeve surgery on YouTube, and since I am not afraid of surgery I am looking forward to it. I saw this website and have been reading everyone's posts for a few weeks. You have answered any questions I have had so far. You have a great support system and I know I will enjoy being a part of it. I know it will not take me a long time to reach my goal (I lost 40 lbs. almost instantly in 1999 with the previous surgery) and I have a good attitude, so I know it will be successful. Looking forward to talking with all of you. Some of your weight-loss stories amaze me! Happy Thanksgiving! Janet
