Stomach pain with gas 1 yr post op
SleeveDreamer replied to shareeann's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would contact my surgeon. Have you not had follow ups during the past year? My first year I am required to see my surgeon every month. -
Just because you don't see a change on the scale, doesn't mean you aren't losing. You may also be gaining lbs. of body mass from your protein intake. And at the same time you will he losing %of body fat. So don't get discouraged.

4 weeks post op and need help
SleeveDreamer replied to Fostere13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 4 1/2 weeks out. i have been having trouble eating 4 oz. per meal in. I had my post op yesterday and she said that was fine, not everyone can. She said if I can only eat 2 oz at a meal, then an hour or so later, eat about 2 oz more of protein. I am drinking a 30 g protein shake in the morning. I am supposed to drink three 16.9 bottles of water a day but can only get in two. She said you just have to work up to it. i noticed this week i am able to get a little more in at a meal, but if only 3 oz., I got some soft colby jack 3/4 oz packs of cheese at Walmart and I eat one of those. It will come naturallly and all of a sudden you will be able to. You must try to eat even if you don't feel hungry. I had a sleeve 5 1-2 years ago and went through the same thing, although the bypass has more of a restriction. p -
Need Cottage Cheese Pancakes Recipe
SleeveDreamer posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Several years ago when I was sleeved I had the cottage cheese pancakes recipe but can't find it now. I know it had egg white in it too. Does anyone have it? I am having GB in a couple weeks and would love to have it! thanks! -
I had the sleeve 5 1/2 years ago. Recently my acid was so bad it was literally taking over my body and me! The doctor said the only thing to fix it would be RNY. So I had bypass on June 12th. No acid whatsoever now because the part of the stomach that produces acid is no longer there. If you suffer from bad reflux before your sleeve, I would suggest talking with your doctor to see if RNY is not a better option for you. IMO there is no difference in post op or recovery. It seems like a lot of people on this forum have had sleeve revisions to RNY down the road because of bad acid.

Any suggestions?
SleeveDreamer replied to Myaiku_Kuraitani's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find that my energy comes back the more active I am. If I get dressed, put on makeup and do my hair first, I actually feel better and just go out and walk at the mall or someplace. I can't believe the difference in how i feel. I still can only get two bottles of eater a day in but just going into my fourth week. Drink a 30 g Premier PRotein every morning. I can't handle protein drinks made with powders. If I just sit around the house and don't get dressed, I find I have no energy whatsoever! Luckily I have never had any nausea or pain so I don't have to worry about that. -
I had a sleeve 5 1/2 years ago. Just had a revision to RNY on the 12th. I had terrible stomach acid to the point it was taking over my body! The sleeve will not prevent acid reflux since the partnof your stomach that produces acid is still there. My doctor suggested RNY because he said that is the only way Ito finally get rid if my reflux. If you do have a lot of acid before your procedure, you may want to talk to your doctor to see if RNY would be a better option for you now, rather than maybe revision down the road. congrats to your husband for his success!

10 weeks in an nausea all the time? Help
SleeveDreamer replied to Heavyduty1966's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am into my fourth week out. I am on soft foods, but can't eat a lot of anything except cottage cheese or soft cheese. Luckily iI have never had any nausea since my surgery. I do find myself eating too fast sometimes, thus getting the hiccups. It is hard to stretch 4 oz. into 15-30 minutes! I feel bad for those of you who experience nausea. i don't think I could handle it! -

You look great! Congratulations! -
Bariatric Advantage has a new chewable tablet out that has everything but calcium. It is their best seller now. I switched to it last week and the only additional I need to take is my calcium, since you can't take that the same time as everything else anyway. I went done from 6 pills to this!

Possible switch to bypass because of GERD.
SleeveDreamer replied to shy1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had RNY on the 12th, I had VSG 5 1/2 years ago. Unfortunately the VSG does not help control GERD bcuase the part of your aromach that produces acid is still there. My acid had gotten so bad in the last 9 months, it was taking over my body 24 hours a day! My only was RNY to finally get rid of the acid! I am in my fourth week out and have not had any acid, although I do need to take antacid for 60 days post op to prevent ulcers where internal stitches are. -
TMI-bowel movement
SleeveDreamer replied to bridgieb925's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would be concerned that you only have a bowel movement once a week! I have had one everyday since my surgery. I think you should check with your surgeon about that. As far as the brocolli goes, if it was solid, it doesn't sound like you maybe chewed it well enough or perhaps swallowed to fast? -
I was up walking in the hospital the next day four times. Even now that I am home (i had a VSG to RNY) i feel much better when I am more active. I am lucky though that I never had any pain post op and never any nausea. Not sure about riding a bike, but you need to walk as much as possible when yu get out of hospital. It will aid in your healing process.

SleeveDreamer replied to Kristina Mccarthy-Martin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry abut weighing yurself yet. It takes sometime 3-4 weeks for yu boatiness to go down.. all of a sudden you will see a weight loss on your scale, but if you feel the need to weigh, just keep it to once a week! -
I need "sugar free" explained to me...
SleeveDreamer replied to GotProlactinoma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sugar free means no sugar or refined sugar. But may contain artificial sweeteners. NO SUGAR ADDED means that there is natural sugar, but no refined sugar added. -
I am almost four weks out and I was allowed watermelon when I started on soft foods my third week out. My doctor deosn'thave a pureed stage goes right from full liquids to soft.
-
My post op is first week clear liquids and protein drinks, second week full liquids. Third week soft foods (no pureed stage), on soft foods for 4 weeks) then regular foods after that except for breads and starches, which start another 2 weeks after the regular foods. It's amazing how different each plan is.

One week out and starving! Is this normal?
SleeveDreamer replied to LoLoH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 6 days out. I was on clear iquids for one week, full liquids for one week, and now on pureed/soft foods for a month. My soft foods incude some lean meats and chicken. If you are that hungry, you may not be getting enough protein. Try two 30g protein drinks a day and see if that helps with your hunger. When I started soft foods, she told me to do only one 30g protein drink in the morning. But I have never felt hungry! -
Try Miracle Noodles. They are plant based and take the place of pasta and rice!

I was not implying that you shoud not use a food scale. Whatever works for you. However for myself, I find it easier to use those lirttle two oz cups. I had a food scale when I had vsg 5 1/2 years ago, and for some reason I could not use it right and I guess I considered it a nuisance for me so I prefer the cups instead. If you want to use the scales for portion control, that is completely up to the individual.
-
I have found it is not necessary to use a food scale, but rather use a set of those small cup/bowls from Home Goods or TJ Maxx. The insides are marked with measurements. Takes the hassle out of weighing. Also those two oz. little plastic disposable containers with lids. I am going to cook for my week on Sunday cuz I start pureed/soft on Monday. Then just distribute into those.
