My Post Op Diet Seems Less Strict Than Most Others
SleeveDreamer replied to Squisha's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow at all the variations! i was on clear liquids for a week with no protein drinks, then full liquids and protein drinks for a week, then pureed and protein drinks for a week, then soft foods for 2 weeks, then regular, but no steak, or bread or pasta til 10 weeks. Sometimes they move you right from clear liquids to pureed and skip the full liquids from what I heard. -
Two Nsv's In One Weekend....wow!

Awesome! It feels so good, doesn't it? -
I heard too many complications with the band and they may stop doing them. With the sleeve 85% of your stomach is ut off, so wouldn't you rather have that than a piece of plastic put inside of you? Any surgery has a risk involved.

Surgery? Overall Summary. Yes Or No?
SleeveDreamer replied to betterthanbefore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Would do it again in a minute! Never had any pain or nausea. Have lost 6 inches in my waist and 5 inches in my hips. Have gone from a size 18 pants to a 10. I am a little over 15 weeks out and have never felt better. I just said to my husband that this is the first time in my life I have probably chewed my food! I only had 55 lbs. to lose but it was all in my abdomen and had to go. Love my sleeve! -
I don't know about you all, but I love chili verde and used to get the burritos all the time when I went out. Now I just order them "en plate" (on a plate without a tortilla). so good, and of course have enough to bring home and have an over easy egg on top for breafast the next morning. I put some of the Rice Chips with it (they taste just like tortilla chips to me). LOVE MY SLEEVE!

I am 15 weeks out and had a follow-up today with my awesome doctor. I told him I thought i was losing too slowly. He said I wasn't. I told him i was doing my treadmill 30 min. a day and the days I didn't do that. I walked. He said to try this to get the body fat to melt off before I see him again: Get on the treadmill at 2 mph. for 1 minute. Then increase to 3 mph. for 5 min. Then increase to 4 mph. for 1 min. Then repeat 6 more times for a total of 35 min. He said this would work with no incline, but if you want to try an incline, it will work even better. He said when he sees me in a month, I should be down at least 10 or more lbs. if I do this at least 5 days a week! Maybe this will help break a stall for some of you! Can't hurt to try!

First Mushy Meal.. Hating Every Minute

You are not eating enough food right now to worry about gaining! I am 15 weeks out and still can't get 800 calories a day in, so I will continue to lose until I get to my goal. -
It's important to sip, sip liquids as much as you can so you don't get dehydrated. Don't worry about getting Protein in until full liquids and then start, but you will have trouble getting it all in. There are Premier Protein drinks at costco (chocolate and vanilla) that are 30 grams each but they are 11 oz. and you will not be able to drink it all at once, but you can sip as much as you can all day to get as much in as you can. But don't force it and just take in what you can. Everyone's sleeves have different restrictions. Some people can't get all protein in for awhile. Just stay hydrated. Don't forget that sf popsicles and sf Jello are considered Clear Liquids also. You may be on clear liquids for about a week. I am 15 weeks out and I never had any issues with pain or vomiting like some have had. I never had any pain. My sleeve can handle any food I try to eat. I am still on about 800 calories or less a day, simply because I can't get alot more in, but my doctor told me today to stay between 800-900 until I get to my goal. I went to the dr. today for a follow-up and I have lost 6 inches in my waist and 5 inches in my thighs and lost 38 lbs. I love my sleeve. I feel so much better. I only had 55 lbs. to lose but I had a high body fat % and all of my weight was in a dangerous place in my abdomen, Only 18 lbs. til my goal. You will do fine. Think positive. they will give you pain meds and nausea meds if you need it, so don't be afraid to ask for it. Good luck and keep us posted!

Starting Phase Iii Diet - First Real Food Tomorrow - Excited And Yet Nervous...
SleeveDreamer replied to want2bthin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you eat too fast, you get that stuck feeling and you're right has no place to go but come back out! You usually get the slimes too for a few minutes (runny saliva) and then the throw it up is easy out and then immediate relief! It's weird how it works. -

My surgery was 12/14 so you are close to me. I forgot how many grams of carbs my dietician told me to stay under if I am still trying to lose and she is on vacation. I am sticking to 800 a day until I reach my goal. Only 18 lbs. away! YAY! -
Can You Have Sodas?

Luckily I drank Caffeine-free Diet Pepsi. I have never been into caffeine. Otherwise I would have been flying high 24 hours a day! -

Substitute For Nachos Or Taco Shells

Also, try Lundberg Rice Chips. (In the natural chips aisle.) The sea salt flavor taste just like corn tortilla chips. The santa Fe BBQ ones are great too and they are my fave. We used to eat tons of chips, and now we only eat these. They are soo good. Much better than Beanitos in my opinion. -
I have never vomited and I am 15 weeks out. If you are in the hospital post-op they should automatically give you an anti-nausea med just as a precaution. And your dr. can give you one to take home. I was fortunate enough never to have to use it. Everyone is different. If you don't rush it, and stick to your doctor's eating plan, and slow down when you eat, then you should be fine.

Can You Have Sodas?
SleeveDreamer replied to krazigyrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stopped drinking Diet Pepsi about two months before I ever heard of this surgery. My primary doctor told me diet soda were so full of junk that they can really do harm. I used to get alot of headaches, and now don't have any. Carbonation is bad for your sleeve. It can cause stomach ulcers, severe gas pain, and also stretch out your sleeve, and you don't want to do that. I didn't think i could ever go without Diet pepsi, but don't even miss it. I drink flavored water all day long that I fllavor with MIO natural flavoring (or I get Great Value from WalMart cuz it is cheaper but the same thing). You can do without it. if I can, I know you can. -

I use MIO for flavoring for my water. The strawberry watermelon is so good. Natural and no artifical sweetners. However, WalMart has their own Great Value brand for 2.79. Cost at least 3.79 most other places, but it allows me to drink ALL day it tastes so good. Since my surgery i cannot stand the taste of plain bottled water so i have to flavor it. try that if you feel you can't get enough water in, since it adds a little variety! -

I am 15 weeks out and had my follow-up today. I asked him how many calories max. I should have if I not to my goal yet. He said if you want to keep losing, don't go over 1,000 calories per day, but try to stay bewtween 800-900. It is hard for me to get in 800, so i guess I am on the right track! -
I am 15 weeks out and I am still having a problem with waiting 1/2 hr. before I drink after eating. the doctor says I can change it to 15 miuntes but if I feel too full, wait the 1/2 hour!
