I never have cared for the taste of Chick Fil A at all, but it is good to know about the kids grilled chicken nigget meal just in case! However, I usually cover myself if i am going to be out all day and take a small cooler lunch bag with some rolled up turkey and cheese sticks. Don't do fast food at all anymore and don't miss it! Love my sleeve!

Stay away from the fired stuff there and the soup, which is full of sodium!
-
I have never tried this, but alot of people on here swear by mashed steamed cauliflower with chicken broth and insist they taste just like mashed potatoes.
-
Stay away from the fried foods there. If you have trouble with a chicken breast (harder to chew and digest after VSG), then you may need to stick to dark meat and thighs. easier to chew and digest cuz they are not as dry. They have good chicken noodle soup, however, full of sodium which you don't need. Good luck!

Trouble With Eggs Post-Op?
SleeveDreamer replied to Bubbaloo10's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I deinfitely would stay away from salad. Although all doctors are different, I personally have never seen anyone on here advance to soft foods that quickly. I never had any complications and I was not allowed salad until 10 weeks. I found that with chicken, I much prefer dark meat after surgery, although never ate anything but white meat breasts before. The thighs are much easier to chew and digest and are more moist. They sell boneless, skinless thighs now too to make it easier. Do you like cottage cheese? That is a good thing to start eating regularly, as well as yogurt and cheese sticks. You ned to concentrate on Protein now.. Also, I buy the pouches of Starkist sandwich ready albacore tuna (3.5 oz.) each. Great source of protein and already blended with mayo and is very tasty. Your stomach staples need to heal before putting too much density and pressure into it. Try some blended shakes too maybe. Hope you feel better. Remember, your time will come when you can eat whatever you want again, but you need to realize what drastic changes you have made to your body and be patient! Good luck! -
You can have bread later on, however, the resaon is that it swells and expands in your small stomach and could be painful. Also you don't need to fill up on carbs, you need to concentrate on Protein. When you are allowed bread, it is best to stick to toasted, or Wasa crackers. I don't even want regular bread anymore, and I am 5 1/2 months out.

Trouble With Eggs Post-Op?
SleeveDreamer replied to Bubbaloo10's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
If you are only 2 weeks post op, I am wondering why you are eating those foods already? You should definitely not be eating salads or roughage right now. Basically, you should still be on full liquids and not even soft foods yet. Your new tummy needs time to heal beofre putting any food into it. Please be careful. you could cause a leakage if you push it. -
Wasa Lite rye Crispbread crackers will become your friends. Not that many calories or carbs. Use them just as you would saltines or bread. Also trader Joes has the small round rice crackers in a bag that are sooo good too.

Trouble With Eggs Post-Op?
SleeveDreamer replied to Bubbaloo10's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I guess I am lucky. I have been able to eat eggs, cooked any way since I was released for soft foods. Never bother me. I have one every morning for breakfast. try some liquid egg whites or Egg Beaters to see if they are tolerable. -
When you are released by your doctor to eat crackers, buy some Wasa Lite Rye crispbread. Put some tuna salad on two (I buy the Starkist sandwich ready albacore pouch 3.5 oz.) and a1/2 slice of cheese on each and put under the broiler and then....voila! A tuna melt. Also good with deli turkey meat and 1/2 slice cheese with a bread n butter stacker slice. They are also good with pizza sauce and some shredded mozarella and some turkey pepperoni and put under broiler. You will find you will like these better than bread. At first you will only be able to eat about 4 oz. even if that, so you need to concentrate on protein, protein, protein. I don't even eat bread anymore when we go out. Don't even want it!

Whats Your Diet 4 Months Out?
SleeveDreamer replied to ahaliace's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I usually have a Jimmy Dean turkey sausage link, an egg or cottage cheese, and some red grapefruit sections from the jar for breakfast. For lunch, rolled up turkey deli meat with muenster cheese and a bread and butter stacker pickle, or a pouch of Starkist Sandwich ready albacore turkey on a wasa cracker with muenster cheese on top under the broiler. For dinner 3 or 4 oz. of lean meat and green vegetable or salad. I am 5 1/2 months out. I snack on raw almonds or cheese sticks. No more junk food for me! -
You will probably go to regular foods, but there will be some restrictions, Bread, rice, and pasta will swell in your stomach so you won't be able to have those for awhile. You will probably not be able to have salad yet. Although I never had issues with it, alot of people do. Good luck!
-
You will be able to have bread, but not til later on. Bread will swell in your stomach as well as rice and pasta. I am almost 6 months out and I don't even want bread anymore. When i do have it I have the Oroweat sandwich thins for 100 calories. However, I find that I love my sandwichs on Wasa crispbread or just turkey and cheese rolled up with a pickle in the middle. You really need to watch the bad carbs and starch now. When you do start eating it you need to eat whole grain, no white enriched flour and toasting it is better for you for awhile. Not so chewy.

No More Gum Or Popcorn?
SleeveDreamer replied to NJsharon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes you can eat popcorn again, but not for awhile, because it may swell and you need to make sure you are healed first. They say no gum, and I don't even miss it. Popcorn was my downfall. I had to have it everyday before my surgery. I haven't had any since (I am 5 1/2 monhs out) and I have a huge box in my pantry. Don't even want any yet. You will find your taste buds will change and you may not even like something you loved before. I can eat anything I want now, but I make wise choices for once! -

I am almost 6 months out and I can eat anything I want. However, you will find that your cravings and taste buds change. Something you may have eaten all the time before, may not taste good to you now. Please hang in there. Think of the long term results. You will feel so much better and healthier and you will love your new lifestyle. Just follow your doctor's instructions and you should be fine. I have gone from a size 18 to a size 6 in less than 6 months. Is that enough insoiration for you to hang in there? you will feel so good about this in a couple months. Your time and regular food will come. Good luck.

Memorial Day Challenge!
SleeveDreamer replied to Forensikchic's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I also will not make My Memorial Day goal challenge. I am very close to my final goal and it has gone slower on the scale. I am only 8 lbs. away from my dr.'s goal for me and 16 lbs. away from my own goal. I am also exercising more and building more muscle, therefore doesn't show on the scale, but shows in my clothes, so remember that when you don't see the scale move if you are exercising, it's not a bad thing, especially if you can see it in your clothes. That may be a perfect time to measure to see that you are losing something! (Hopefully you measured before the surgery). The doctor always tells me how much body fat I have lost etc, and I have an appt. on Tuesday so that will definitely prove I am doing good. I am up to the July 4 challenge. I will definitely be at my own goal by then! -
Went For My 2 Month Postop Yesterday
SleeveDreamer replied to azquilter92's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I always weigh myself every day and always will. It keeps me in line. If you are in a stall, try eating nothing but protein and no carbs ( not even good ones ) for a couple of days, and make sure you drink atleast 80 oz. or more of water and you will see a weight loss. Don't compare your weight loss to others. Everyone is dfferent and your weight loss is great. Ask yourself when the last time was you have lost 22 lbs. on your own! -
45 lbs.

I am a little over 5 months out not far from my goal.. When I get in a stall I eat Protein only and no carbs (not even fruit) and I break my stall right away. I also drink tons of MIO flavored Water everyday.
